When Warburton was appointed I genuinely thought we'd be top four first season then challenging Celtic properly the second season, before building on that to be realistic contenders this year. We're so far away from that its scary. We're 5 points behind Aberdeen & 8 behind Ceptic.....not insurmountable by any means. We should have finished above Aberdeen last season, but we collapsed, while they maintained. In the unlikely event it is him, be interesting to see how he tries to keep players who don't like him in line. Out of that lot, Alex Neil by a country mile. Knows the league, knows the conditions, can kick on if things go well. Reputation for developing talent. Can work with limited budget. De Boer might see it as a more appealing option now given how Crystal Palace turned out? Would Alex Neil fancy leaving the Championship for us? calscot 0 Posted October 26, 2017 Share Posted October 26, 2017 While I still reserve my judgement on Murty from the last time due to a couple of bad results (which are difficult to judge under the circumstances), it will be interesting to see if he can take, what seem to be a better bunch of players this time, and turn them around in a few games, to being a lot more solid, together and motivated. If he can get a draw with Celtic with lesser players, what can he do with these? The thing is do we are NOT better than Aberdeen for whatever reason, McInnes could well be the one to offer us improvement and I think he would, how much I don’t know but surely he has to take the plunge and take on a huge challenge, he may regret not taking it and he can’t go any further at the Sheep, surely a manager’s character is judged on being challenged and taking on a more demanding role to move him out of his comfort zone.
