New manager rumours

Willie Waddell managed Kilmarnock.

Did he not win the League when managing Kilmarnock (and have a few 2nd places)?

Of course, when he left Rugby Park, he became a football writer for the now defunct Daily Express, from where he took up the Manager's post at Rangers.

So,.......if Steve Clarke wins the SPL, and spends 2 or 3 years on the football desk at the Daily Rhabble, he would be qualified, incontrovertibly for the job at Ibrox......

Which of the 4 came closest to winning the league?

Did Rodgers win the league ?  How close did Rodgers come to winning the CL ??

Rodgers doesn't do European football very well.

If you look at his results with Liverpool, it's not dissimilar in pattern to his current club.

ie. He's not really 'the messiah' as the media up here seem to believe.

I would break the bank to get Sean Dyche in, a tough no nonsense type of manager who makes his teams hard to beat. He's done well for his budget in the EPL.

Lol..meanwhile back on planet earth: https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/5408368/sean-dyche-new-contract-burnley/

He won the League Championship in '63/64 season, pipping Hearts at Tynecastle(0-2) on goal average on the last day of the season. Interestingly, Killie would have lost out on today's preference for goal difference. Reference his time at the Scottish Daily Express, it was a broadsheet in those days and many men bought the blatt particularly because of it's football coverage. My old man bought the Glasgow Herald for news/current affairs, but detested their main football writer, Cyril Horne. The Express accompanied the Herald and was read from the back page first, namely John Fairgrieve's contribution.

Waddell mined the seam of the Rangers manager's job, his constant criticism of then boss, Davie Whyte bordered on unseemly. Apparently, Wullie felt overlooked when Scot Symon was dismissed. I think it was after defeat in the Fairs Cup semi-final to Newcastle, Waddell christened Whyte, 'the Boy David'. He did not recover.

Too much snobbery from Rangers fans I’m afraid. Like the board, a lot seem to be waiting for Mourinho or Guardiola to send in his CV. The reality is we were knocked back by Derek McInnes, though I wouldn’t be shocked if we went back in for him.

The board have had 9 months to replace Caixinha and haven’t delivered. We now have 8 weeks before the 2018/19 season starts. Time to get real. Alex Neil, Robbie Nielson & Steve Clark are all a big step up from Murty & Caixinha. Only one of them is a Rangers man, but I’d be happy with any of them. All are proven in Scotland & England. If they can sort our home form, then we will be challenging for the league next season.

"A Rangers Man" this is such a stumbling block to many on here, and the wider support.

If we go for a decent replacement it matters not what team his leanings were/are toward he will be here to do a responsible job.

Are we to say that those in top jobs don't have a team they followed in the past but our obsession is this "he is a Cespit fan" is becoming boring.

Let's go for the best we can get and move on.

Still don't want the two English halfwits being mentioned though.
