There's no doubt this appointment is a risk.  But it's a bold one, it's imaginative and also has lots of positives.

Only time will tell how well it works but if anyone says they're not excited by it, then they're not being honest with you.

Sorry but plenty of bears feel nothing but dread about this.

I'd say it'll be more important how he spends it.

Wasting piles of cash in football is easy, spending it wisely brings relative success.

You can’t spend wisely what you don’t have either

The McInnes deal was on and then he woke up and changed his mind.

What's to say Gerrard won't do the same?

There are never any guarantees but I'd say it's because of what happened with McInnes, it won't happen with Gerrard.

No need to apologise.

I think most have their doubts (and that was reflected in our main site poll earlier in the week) but you'd have to be very, very negative not to see the positives.  Bill is correct to mention finance but I doubt Gerrard would have agreed to a three year contract without such assurances either.

Like I said in the first post, this is a risk but what appointment wouldn't be?  Let's get behind the new manager.

Can't really understand this and I'm a cautious Bear.

Time for reservation (or "dread" :eek2:) is past. There are positive angles to take from this and if you ignore those and keep concentrating on the negatives, then it's a strange mindset from a football supporter.

It's now about listening to what the man himself has to say.

I hope for cautious and measured ambition for a project that has to be built from near to scratch.

Next to no mention of the team from the other side of the city and no talk of 55 or promises that the media will note down.

What else can you do but get behind him?  I think the mood right now is just about right anyway, a lot of excitement but not exactly the Paul Le Guen wave of giddy optimism.  There’s a degree of caution as well which makes sense.

Anyway, im not sure there’s any satisfaction to be had by predicting disaster and being proved right.  So you might as well get caught up in the excitement.

Caution is completely understandable.

But as bears we've not had much to get excited about in recent years.  So, just like a brilliant volley by Tav into the top corner of the Petrofac Cup Final against Peterhead, isn't the same as a Colin Stein goal in a Nou Camp European final, it is possible to enjoy both.

Have helped the club run itself into the ground long enough.

Weve all been over it. The positives are mostly in the mind of the online support. Positive press hasnt happened and neither will the attraction of better calibre players. Only money will do that.

So far the big investment is just fans online again trying to justify decisions.

Will get excited at investment but not on a rookie who has never identified nor build a squad spending it.

Because Gerrard is not a bottler?
