The Summer 2022 Rangers Transfer Window Rumours and Deals - Thread

Recommended Posts

4 million pounds, for Davies, does seem a bit much judging by his career.

I've never watched him play though so I suppose I'll just need to trust the club.

A left sided centre back is a great idea. Helander is always injured and famously slow.

All transfers have a risk attached, and like you I trust Gio and our recruitment team. Liverpool bought him and didn't play him and he was loaned to Sheffield United. He was a standout when he played for Preston and his career has not taken off (as yet).

I guess there are many things that go together to make a price and the news that Filip Helander is off to see a specialist meant that another CB simply had to be brought on before the remaining pre-season games. Leaving fees to one side I imagine Goldson-Davies is now the central pairing of choice.

Alfie and Roofe out until September. Hagi out until new year. Helander to see a specialist. Signings of Davies and Tillman make sense now.

Hopefully another two in and we can shift some of the dead wood.

As that is about what he is worth...~1.5M

That would be a fair market value.

No way, on any planet is that cat worth 4M.

His performance last season alone does not warrant a 120% jump in value.

No way no how.

We're gettin robbed.

obviously not as we've paid £3M for him. When Liverpool signed him he only had 6 months left on his contract.

We'll see in the fullness of time if we've been "robbed" or not. If he helps to get us to CL group stages, £3M well spent.

Or Gio is planning to play 3-5-2 in some games (as he did last season with Lundstram dropping into back line)?

Certainly gives us options and as you say, we're not spending money on Davies to be a squad-filler, it looks like he'll be a starter.

Goldson-Souttar-Davies presents another good combination in that line up. I think Souttar often played as part of a back three at Hearts.
