Summer Signings

Recommended Posts

I'd say a striker and a goalkeeper are the two we really need but the midfield, wide forwards and defence need reinforcements/replacements too.

To start with, the main focus should be offloading deadwood.

If what the January transfer window is anything to go by I was expecting 3 or 4 signings to come in with what the manager was saying and we got 2.

So I'd probably say 5 or 6, just hoping we don't retain players we don't need to e.g Morelos, McGregor, Arfield.

Positions I'd say GK, ST, CM/DM, RW. Maybe a couple in those positions as well like ST or GK. If it's only 5 signings but they're quality then I'll be happy with that tbh, the squad needs trimming.

Agree with Gonzo concerning a goalkeeper and a striker being priority, and offloading deadwood. The defence are conceeding to many silly goals, so that does need sorting, be it by better coaching or replacing. It would be quicker for me to list who I'd keep than who I'd ship out, so as many as possible.

A ‘keeper, at least one, preferably two, tradesmen defenders with a bit of size to them, a craftsman attacking midfielder and a couple of scoring forwards. Not much to ask, is it? Oh and a winger.

Realistically how many summer signings are you expecting and in what positions?

Not enough is the honest answer. Currently, our best first team line up requires no fewer than 7 new faces who are all a considerable improvement on those they replace. Achieving that seems fanciful at best, given there is very little income to be had from selling any of the current squad. I feel the upshot is almost certainly another season when we won't win the title.

I think the very best we can hope for are 2 good signings, plus 2 or 3 other who are a bit of a Tamundo type gamble.
