I'm intrigued by Dowell.

 

He was held in similar regard to Cantwell as a youngster. The difference being Cantwell has had more PL experience.

I was surprised as to what kind of player Cantwell was, he was completely different from what I imagined. 

 

Dowell was rated as highly as Cantwell for a time so hopefully he can have a similar impact as Cantwell.

A replacement for Tom Lawrence ?

hopefully not & Lawrence returns. He’d have been our best player last season had he not got injured in my opinion

Lawrence, IMHO, will if fit start the season as the left sided attacking mid that Kent presently holds.  That was where he kind of started this season, as we didnt really play with wingers.

 

Agreed on him being our best player too - he was a massive loss when he got injured

If MB continues with the 4-3-1-2, I don't see a place for Lawrence.

 

He won't play as the #10 over Cantwell or Dowell. 

 

Maybe if we play with two #10s, which MB has switched to in certain games (e.g. Hibs).
