[FT] Rangers 2 (Sima 45; Matondo 76) - 2 PSV Eindhoven

Recommended Posts

It's  playoff game where success will bring us all the financial benefits of the CL and the heartache of playing teams vastly superior to ourselves. As fans we'll berate the team if we fail to get there, or berate the team for the performances / results in the group stages if we qualify.

Either way, we'll get the opportunity to slate the players and coaching staff, so it's a win win really........

League Cups are fine if you are winning leagues. If all we are winning is League Cups, we are no better than St. Johnstone.

When I started following Rangers we were way behind Aberdeen, Dundee UTD and Celtic and finished 4th of 5th in the league. So you are correct, we were no better than St Johnstone.

Thankfully no Internet then, you had to go and suffer weekly and take your medicine.

Every season (and Cup Semi / Final) would start with the chant "Don't Let Us Down Again", which was always a forlorn hope.

I think we should face facts the manager is out of his depth and the board have committed a failure of duty by letting him but these players, it won't end well.

Normally, at this stage of the season, I'd say you're being a bit over-dramatic but I think you might be right, unfortunately.

Reading between the lines, I think the board have allowed Beale to refresh the squad on the basis it’s break even financially - both fees and wages. If Kamara is sold for 5m (we’d be so lucky) then that will have been achieved. If we only get 3m for Kamara we’ll have spent net spend of 2m. Beale has not been given 15m to go buy a new team, he’s been given the sale proceeds from Sakala, Colak, Kamara and Tillman compensation and freed up wages from all outgoings. Make of that what you will.

So we just write of another manager and 9 players and go through the same process again (sack manager and change the entire squad).

We all wanted SG/Gio's squad ripped apart. We all wanted the "serial lossers" chased.

We got what we wanted and after 5 competitive games (1 loss) we want it all changed again.

We're a patient bunch if nothing else.

The bottom line is the vast majority of Rangers fans wanted the squad ripped apart and players chased.

This is what we've done over the summer and to think that there would somehow be a magical and instant turning into prime Barca was fanciful at best, madness even.

Instant gratification is a must these days.
