This is the problem with hiring people emersed in the EPL world and English football in general. The likes or Therwell and Purdy will look down south as the be all and end all of football. No doubt the rumours about spending a fortune on wages for the likes of Vardy and other EPL has beans is a glimpse into our future. Talk about a false dawn. See you all for the new manager thread in October.

Pretty much what Cammy says, if he's the guy of the 3 that actually wants the feckin job, then so be it. I take heart from the Leeds poster on twatter who said all that stuff about the board not doing what the fans want, but go with it, as they know their stuff. If they went for what our fans want it would be a series of uninspiring 'Rangers men'.

Martin was the candidate who impressed the most during the initial interview process, and if rumours are true, the only one who accepted a 2nd interview. Gerrard pulled out the race after initial interview (TV role and pressure from family) and Ancalotti informed the club he is no longer interested yesterday. Not who I'd have liked, bit it shows the new board aren't afraid of making "unpopular" decisions if they believe they are correct (the complete opposite from previous boards). I'll awit officially confirmation, but it looks like Martin is our next manager. Good luck Russell, looks like you're gonna need it.

The Rangers Summer 2025 Transfer Rumours and Deals - Thread
der Berliner replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
Heavily linked with Rangers, former Real Madrid assistant Davide Ancelotti is a "hot contender" to take over at Swiss champions Basel. (Blick - in German) Rangers face a battle to land Brazilian midfielder Metinho as Basel say they want to keep the 22-year-old permanently after his loan from Troyes. (Scottish Sun) Troyes would want £5m to part with Rangers midfield target Metinho. (Daily Record) Everton are just one of six Premier League clubs keen on Rangers midfielder Mohamed Diomande, but the Ibrox club are in no rush to sell the 23-year-old and would demand a substantial fee. (TeamTalk) Jamie Vardy is weighing up a move to Rangers as the 38-year-old striker's contract runs out with relegated Leicester City. (Daily Mail, print edition) Former Rangers chairman Dave King has revealed the Ibrox club almost had Saudi owners before the US consortium's takeover. (Sky Sports) ... meanwhile, Mr. Shankland is now a freebie. 😎 -
One of the downsides is that Ancelotti may have given us access to a lot of players that other candidates wouldn't have. I have to wonder if the new owners delayed the decision too long allowing someone else (Basle?) to come in and entice him away.
-
Disappointing. It appears that Ancelotti turned us down so we've ended up going for Martin. I'm sure those who made the decision to go for him know a lot more about it than I do, and I hope that they've made the right decision. What I would say is that this is the most depressed I've felt about a Rangers manager appointment in the last 50 years.

Agree with the second part totally. But I thought he claimed RFC released him because he married a catholic? Was that a lie? I just recall him as an average cf.
-
Can we just bring Murty back instead pls.
-
Why not both?
-
@Rousseau will finally be able to take down the Josh Windass poster and replace it with one of Russell Martin holding a Rangers scarf
-
-
Fuuuuck sake.
-
Oh well, maybe next season.
-
The scumbag lied about why Rangers binned him and also pretends to be a socialist, down to Earth Govanite whilst charging extortionate, eye-watering amounts for appearances.
-
Stuffed.
-
Just out of interest (not making a point) why can't you stand SAF, widely acknowledged as one of the best managers ever?
-
What happened to the Italian bloke, Ravioli?
-
Bad appointment, if true. A huge disappointment.
-
Tavernier has been an excellent player until about two seasons ago his attacking flair compensating for defensive lapses but he is not captain material. You can see nervousness in his eyes as he stands in the tunnel to lead the team out. Richard Gough’s expression was one of utter steel. Shearer and Greig were grim determination personified.
-
If true, how utterly uninspiring. Hipster Pep-lite football without the players to execute it properly. Another wasted season. 'Closing in': how absurd, Martin would bite the yanks hands off for the gig.

The WhatsApp rumours are starting up again saying Russell Martin and that in tandem with rumours surfacing about Ancelotti to Basel.....
