  1. When we were 3-0 up and cruising. Was never gonna be when we were drawing in the final minute of the game.

  4. It used to be the case that when VAR asked the referee to review an incident, everyone expected the referee to change their mind. No longer. After the Walsh decision against Diomande, this week we have Robertson, in the Aberdeen game, called to review his decision and deciding not to change his decision. I'm wondering if this is the Collum effect. Willie was known to be a tad techy when anyone questioned his decision and was one of the very few who, when called by VAR to review, stood by his original decision. Now that Willie is the main man, are Refs thinking that this is the way to impress or is it simply a coincidence? Watch this space.

  5. I was driving back from Belgium, so listening to the game on the radio. At half time we brought on Rice, but why not Nsio and Curtis and Fernandez, the game was won. All County wanted was a low score. We need to know if these boys are for keeping. Today was the day for a few experiments. What did we learn bringing on Lawrence and Bajrami? Maybe I missed something in not seeing it live.

  6. Good first half, but a massive drop in tempo when Dio was replaced. The big lad Nsiala strolled the game.

  7. Standard victory against a very poor Ross County team. Three points and a clean sheet but 2nd half was disappointing.

  8. I want to see more of Curtis and Rice. Give Fernandes a run-out, too.

  9. Please, please can we get some youngsters on now? If they can play v Manure surely good enough for Rossco?

  12. .... indeed. Remember the drop in performance in other games we lead comfortably at HT, this was sure an improvement. Looks like we got our first penalty of the season ... in February, while they managed their 41st game without conceding a red card.

  19. No it's just for next season. If we increase it this season it won't come into operation till the season after, giving us time to win the league.

  20. It is gutting to see them benefit from our wonderful work in Europe, but the consolation is that it at least gives us the chance of qualifying for the CL finishing second.

  21. I guess the hope is he can stay fit and impress enough that even if they don't get promotion another side will see him and take him on. He's one of those players that eventually he'll come good for someone. It's not going to be us though.

  22. Matondo's deal includes (according to Germany's equivalent of the Daily Mail) a option to buy for Euro 1.2m, which would still be too dear for them, unless they get promotion.

  23. Due to overall drop in the coefficient, if I remember correctly then they will now have to go through knock out rounds from now on!!

  24. He’ll know nothing about it. His butler and valet accompany him to matches with a hamper of the finest fare. I believe the sandwiches have the crusts cut off. The Earl Grey is brewed in situ and poured from a silver teapot. Wine, of course, for the late summer and early spring matches otherwise Courvoisier or the Linkwood for colder weather. Clos de Mesnil for cup finals naturally.

  25. If we throw that kind of money at 'successes' like Dessers then we'll be in admin 2.0 in a few years. (In fairness, it's not a criticism of Dessers per se.)

  26. I don't think we should be spending £5m on the 'finished article' if that article is Dessers - I said so at the time of signing him. Our money can be better spent on younger players like Igamane.

  27. It's not that we need a 20 goal a season striker to replace Dessers, it's we need someone who can stay fit and lead the line well. We did some basic analysis recently and Rangers score more goals when he's not leading the line than when he is. Whether that's a tactical tweak we make or simply because Igamane is better at holding the ball up and bringing others into the attack, I can't say. As you rightly point out Dessers is a 20 goal a seasons striker, but if he's not scoring Rangers struggle. Whereas when Igamane isn't scoring other players chip in more. Having Igamane and Dessers fit and firing is working quite well just now, Dessers as an impact sub or alongside Igamane is ideal with our current squad. I certainly wouldn't want him to leave without at least one other forward player joining in his place. Without wishing to jinx him Dessers fitness is one of his strengths and not something we should overlook to be fair to him.
