SPFL Season declaration challenged legally (ongoing discussion)
craig replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
too right they will.... You just need to read this to know... ""The resolution also gives authority to the board to make a decision on the remainder of the Ladbrokes Premiership season and the board is committed to consulting with Premiership clubs before any such decision is made." " Which of ANY of the clubs in the top flight will vote against it, us aside ? 1. They are all desperate for money so will take whatever they get in the position they are in 2. Any such vote, I think, requires an 11-1 affirmative vote 3. Two clubs would have voted against - us and Hearts 4. Reconstruction to not relegate Hearts has been "put on the table" 5. Ann Budge is to chair that committee (absolutely screaming of conflict of interest) 6. Reconstruction.... because Budge will ensure there IS reconstruction which ensures Hearts aren't relegated - and therefore the vote will be 11-1 All with little more desired than to hand Celtic a title. Scottish football, still hating itself to death - sickened to the point of "almost" wanting to turn my back on it all. Absolutely appalling, disgusting charade -

Also, had that vote not technically been received by the 5pm "deadline" (which conveniently became "28 days") then Dundee's vote should have been registered as an abstention.... and, funnily enough, an abstention would mean it still fails because they fail to get the 75% affirmative votes for a pass. Now, if the SPFL are saying that the 5pm deadline was only advisory then every other club should also now be allowed additional time - yes, 28 days, in which to re-cast their vote should they wish to do so because, to not allow that, allows ONE member club additional time that 41 other clubs are not being given. -

The very thought of maintaining this split is nauseating to me. It's a pile of garbage. And with 14 teams, in the split, you get a club every week with a bye week. No big deal I suppose but not for me. -

Whilst, if true (and I believe nothing coming out of that place), it’s a noble enough gesture.... there can be little doubt that it’s little more than oneupmanship against Rangers. They will forever be in our shadow morally -
Noooooo.... no way were you drinking last night Gribz

You can understand Hibs voting in favor of the resolution to stick it to Hearts.... however, they are then hurting themselves by losing two full houses at Easter Road (assuming both finish in same half post split) when they rarely get that against any other non-OF team. longer term it will hurt Hibs financially. Scottish football hating itself to death as per the norm ? -

Hearts and Thistle have already said they wont vote in favour of the proposal. Stranraer Chairman has also said it is unfair, so they will likely vote against it too. Hearts have already confirmed they will support Rangers Members Resolution to distribute prize winnings "as is" and to treat the league finish proposal separately. I agree though.... you have to think that any team sitting in 2nd, 3rd and 4th - and possibly even below if they are close to making play offs, will look to oppose it. However..... and I m going to highlight this for effect... in less than 10 years "sporting integrity" has been superseded by "financial expediency" - and it makes you sick to the stomach. I listened to a bit of SSB this evening and they flat out said "null and void" was never even considered. Now... as a Rangers fan null and void would be great however, as a realist, that would be unfair on Celtic given their lead. Null and void is unfair... but so too is simply handing a league over to ANYONE - I would like to think (though probably wouldn't) that I would say the same if we were leading the way. I am not sure what the answer is - contrarian as this view might actually be... I probably wouldn't be averse to Celtic being given some kind of leading handicap for next season - in other words they start ahead of us on some weighted ranking - but they don't get to claim this season's title - what they DO get is an advantage for next season which reflects their current advantage at the top of the table. And I am fully aware that there are a plethora of reasons that wouldn't happen either - but it would be fairer than either null and void or handing them a title when there are too many points still to play for. -

Absolutely ridiculous. They are attempting to blackmail clubs into agreeing with the proposal by withholding funds for clubs. The association has an obligation to HELP clubs... yet here they are instead of simply saying "to help you out we will distribute the prize winnings early, based on current standings". Not sure too many would complain about that because, as has been said, the prize winnings are so skewed to the top 3 or 4 clubs that beyond that it will make little difference. They should then have had this proposal to finish the season "as it stands" as a separate resolution, not have the financial distribution to be dependent upon approving this proposal. Scottish football is run by the Keystone Cops. Amateur hour which is only surprising in the fact it is unsurprising. -

Football now not going to start again until at least June 10th and that is just training. No way this season gets finished. -

it will hurt Celtic more than it will hurt us. -
If there is we may very well see the veracity of the so-called "15,000 ST waiting list" as many ST Holders will have to make difficult financial decision and their ST may be one of the things that have to be culled.

Sorry bud, I wasn’t getting at you, despite the quote. Was more the observation that people think it’s an altruistic gesture. I agree with you on that part, was just quoting you to get the point across that many will see “deferral” as “reduction”. -
Aside from Alex Rae and, possibly, Kevin Thomson.

I think the deferral is being read by many as being a wage "reduction". The more savvy of us, i.e. Gersnetters realise that isn't the case - they will still get full wages. However, before we give the players a hard time about it, because we ALL can be prone to jumping to conclusions.... we simply don't know whether they were even asked to take wage cuts or whether they were asked by the club to take deferrals. Until and unless we have that information we don't know what they were asked to do. Could they have offered a wage reduction voluntarily ? Sure they could. How many of us would do that, particularly voluntarily and without being asked, ourselves ? It doesn't really matter the wealth they have (or not in some cases) but if they aren't asked they aren't at liberty to offer it up. And, if they haven't been asked to take a wage reduction we have no idea if they would have accepted or not. -

Not necessarily - I have seen it in a number of places that we don't actually make much, if any, profit from matchdays. That being the case then we aren't adding to the debt - unless commercial partners also want their sponsorships to be pro-rated, which we just don't know about right now. -
It is a personal preference to not have to rely on others. It is unpalatable to me personally. At the end of the day, government have provided the bailout and companies, including Rangers, are certainly entitled to make use of it. Being a loss making company I imagine times are going to be very tough for you guys BD and even moreso with travel completely locked down. Hope youre well my friend.

In principle I agree that furloughing staff would be a little unpalatable. If that could be achieved by the higher earners taking pay cuts then I am all for it. However, if our rivals, Celtic in particular, are furloughing staff and, effectively, saving themselves money then we are pushing then, unwittingly, further ahead of us financially. Obviously this depends on whether their players are taking paycuts as well or if they continue to pa them full salary. Ironic that they hate all things British, and Tories particularly, but more than happy to accept handouts from that same Tory government....

Getting slightly ahead of yourself there TB, are you not ? You are talking as if the title has already been handed to Celtic. And, even if it was, Rangers can't do a whole lot until such time as that is official - all they can really do is contend it in the background - and one has to think that is happening, given McAllister stating publicly we wouldn't concede the title to them. Making it a legal matter can't happen until it has been confirmed. I may be in the minority with regards to ST money and I fully appreciate that I am far more fortunate than many given I can work from home and our company s largely "business as usual" - but I personally would be fine with paying for my son and my ex's ST's in advance if it helps the club out. One would like to think that when ST renewal notices come out that the club will also provide narrative (public statement or included within ST letters) about the situation, what it means to the club, how they propose handling it, what consideration they have given to fans suffering financially etc. These are troubled times, with great uncertainty and things can change very quickly. The only certainty right now is that I will be having a glass of wine this evening

I am at a loss between the 91-93 team - that 92/93 season and the run in the inaugural Champions League will forever live with me - having the privilege of being at Ibrox for the Leeds 2-1 game , the main stand bouncing pre-game, listening to a pin drop when McAllister stuck that thing in the top corner in the first minute, no away fans (the few that made it in made themselves known quickly and got fists in faces ), the comeback.... and then the group stages and being one goal away from the final.... But it is hard to overlook a team that has both Gascoigne & Laudrup, along with McCoist and Gough, is tough to look past. It is definitely a generational vote because without having witnessed the earlier teams in the flesh, we can only go on those teams we have witnessed

See looking at that 07/08 team - it amazes me that they made it to the Europa final, and I am sure it amazes almost all of us. It is testament to their professionalism but, moreso, the guile of Walter Smith that this team made the final of a European competition. A team that included a 38 yr old Davie Weir and "limited ability" Kirk Broadfoot in the back 4 is head-shaking stuff. Looking through that whole team none of those players would stick out the way a Gascoigne or Laudrup would. Cuellar was our best player that season, IMO, yet only ended up at Aston Villa. We were solid in midfield with Ferguson, Davis, Thomson and the under-rated Hemdani (better suited to European football than domestic) and even Darcheville up top wasn't a fantastic player. Just look at that team in comparison to the 91-97 team.... How many of the 07/08 team would make that 91-97 team ? Cuellar in place of McLaren maybe (and I liked McLaren too) ? Papac instead of Brown maybe ? Not one of the midfield 4 would get in the team (aside from Ferguson being in both...) and Darcheville wouldn't get in front of McCoist. And yet that 07/08 team made the Europa final - amazes me.

KT was a far better player than Brown. Unlucky with injuries and unlucky with our financial situation at the time.

Semantics loyal. LIverpool owners own the Boston Red Sox. Moneyball was based on the Oakland A’s. Red Sox implemented some, but not all, of the Moneyball techniques.

Wonder if Coronavirus will be built into it and when a season can't be completed if it just gives the team at the top the title or if it is declared null and void -
