  1. Me too, I put a single on Poland after Germany bust mine. Cant complain though after Turkey gave me a winning coupon last night with a last minute goal
  2. Gribz, maybe it is me but how would you make out Poland would be favourites to go through with Croatia if they had won ? Them and Germany would both have had 3 points but Germany would have had the easier game against Austria, plus they already beat Poland. Am I missing something ? I had Czech Republic, Croatia, Holland to qualify and Spain to win their group - so obviously I am hoping Czech Republic can get a result against Turkey and that Holland win against Romania. Spain must be looking good in their group as I think Russia were their biggest opponents.
  3. 1st coupon of the tourney down. Not too big a loss though.
  4. Had another coupon up today - Portugal and Turkey, and also had more money on Turkey in a single. Lucky coupon but that is 5 I have had up so far. Stayed away from the Group of Death so cant say if I would have picked any of the results, although I did have a sneaky suspicion Holland would come out of that group. I have 40 quid on the Germans at 4/1 but am waiting for them to reach the quarters, hopefully see their odds fall and then will lay them back to get a risk-free bet.
  5. Anyone else having a great Euro 2008 for betting ? I havent had a coupon DOWN yet. 1) I had Czech Republic, Portugal and Germany 2) I had Croatia and Germany 3) I had Spain and Sweden I think that the games have went much according to plan (except the group of death) - it has been a coupon dream !
  6. I actually would have liked to have Seen Brown and Thomson playing together for us in the engine room. For me, BF is turning into an enigma - you know what you COULD get out of him and it is brilliance, but you often DON'T get it. Thomson was far more consistent than BF last season - so IMO I think it is BF you almost can't afford in a 4 man midfield. I do agree though that Brown would have been a better player for us.
  7. I may be shot down for this opinion..... but I believe that Barry Ferguson is the player holding us back. On his day he is the best midfielder in the country, but we havent been getting him "on his day" very often recently. The signing of Kevin Thomson was a good one (now proving to be a very good one IMO) but he seems to me to be the natural successor to Ferguson. That being the case and given KT has performed so well - and BF being an automatic starter, means we have 2 similar players in the middle of the park. KT and BF should be COMPETING for a position, not starting together - with one of them not playing it opens up a position for a creative midfielder. I would start KT beside a creative/flair player - KT could be our modern day Stuart McCall whilst we get someone else in to be our modern day Gazza to complement him. The problem with this is obvious - WS will not drop BF, so until BF hangs up his boots we will be playing with KT and BF side-by-side - which means a lack of creativity.
  8. Don't forget that some of the suggested itesm are being suggested by the RST MEMBERS, not the RST itself. The media will spin any type of comment from the RST, in part due to the very professional manner in which the RST has handled itself recently. I agree with you Frankie in that much of the good work can be undone by a statement which has unintended consequences. For the moment though, I will disagree with you about the 10 quid not being value for money - I still believe that it is value for money - the RST has not officially stated what it wants the club to do so I will reserve judgement - and would be very surprised if they suggest the withdrawal of players for internationals (not least because it also leads to club bans if the players are not injured...)
  9. IF this statement fromt he RST is accurate then it is easily the worst statement I have seen them make. I have lauded the RST on many, many occasions but this one would be, quite simply, a HUGE mistake. However it shouldnt be forgotten, more often than not, the RST has been the BEST "club representative" do make any media statements for the last couple of years. They may have undone some of their fantastic work with this statement IF it is accurate - but lets not forget the many good things they have done on behalf of the fans.
  10. Would be nice to have proper links to a flair/creative player.....
  11. You and stewarty had a lovers tiff ? :fish:
  12. What you talking about ? Bardsley was here on loan, believed he was the mutts nuts and went OTT in a tackle in training. Further, do you think 1) He would still be here had he stayed ? 2) He would have kept Hutton out of the team ? 3) Hutton would have been punted in favour of Bardsley ? Bardsley looked no better than Hutton at any point while he was at Ibrox- started reasonably well but flattered to deceive most of the time. Not half the player Hutton turned out to be. You only needed to watch him on the field of play to see that he had an arrogance about him - and his sending off at Easter Road was another show of petulance that we didnt need to see either. We certainly got the better end of the deal in giving Hutton another chance. Also, I am reasonably confident that Whittaker will turn out to be a better RB than Bardsley too, if given the chance to play RB consistently.
  13. Boyd is pish :fish: :moon:
  14. You hypocrite :fish: - you have been slagging Ljungberg all season and now you pick him in your Euro team ! Yer team is pish - to look for the winning team just take a look at my team above :fish:
  15. Just make sure and stick around till next May ricky when we do the Quad
  16. I agree, I prefer a little bit of banter. We get that here within our group anyway as it seems to be a reasonable balanced group of individuals (Jonc aside, he will never be balanced..... not with his gammy leg !) and it adds to the flavour of the forum. I personally dont frequent FF as I have no time for pissing in the wind against some people who are so closed-minded. At least on Gersnet we are, in the main, reasoned and sensible and debate is undertaken with respect.
  17. Are you therefore trying to tell me that you think that it is justifiable for you to come onto a forum of your arch rivals and tell their members to "grow up" whilst there are certainly instances where the feeling of conspiracy could be justified (I am NOT a proponent of conspiracy theories, as I said I prefer to leave that for the Celtic fans) without backing up your "grow up" statement ? My Torbett Towers remark was not aimed at you but rather your compadres who, when faced with losing a game, reverted to childish behaviour - therefore my remark was both warranted as a retort and also justified as it was fact.
  18. Holland and Italy
  19. Are these the "quality" signings that Bain has promised us ???
  20. If this is the case (I am not arguing with or against it) then surely it is a GOOD piece of business if we get shot of Cousin for 3 mill ? Cousin is older than KM, KM would cost 2 mill and we get 3 mill for Cousin - NET we get a younger player who gives ius more and with a net INCOME of 1 mill from the deal. That is IF we think that KM would do a better job than Cousin.
  21. Cuellar and Thomson are, for me, our stand out players and at 26 and 23 respectively have their best years ahead of them and quite anumber of years. Smith is another with a very bright future in front of him. I havent seen Fleck so cant comment but he is spoken very highly of by so many top coaches that he has to be a keeper. But will he get his chance under WS ??? EDIT : Agreed Re McGregor. For his relative tender GK age I think he could actually become a great IF he gets to grips with his off-field life.
  22. I dont see why the pounding of the badge should be making such an impact. Big deal, he played for Celtic and scoring for them against their biggest rivals should be cause for celebration, even if it was against us. To be honest I would be disappointed had he not celebrated that way as it would show a lack of desire to always produce your best. Much more worrying, for me at least, is the lack of ability I think he has - he is not the player to raise our standards in my opinion. Another bigger worry is spending 2 million on him - I think there are better buys out there than him for 2 million. Look at Cousin, we got him for 1 million last year and he is a much better player than Miller, just a shame that he doesn't have the desire or heart to be here.
  23. Lehmann Van Bronckhorst Mertesacker Carvalho Materazzi Deco Sionko Malouda Ronaldo Torres Arshavin Come on !!!!!!!!!!
  24. Barry, if he is being bought to play the lone striker role in Europe then 1) he isnt the right person as, although he will put forth the effort, the end product isn't good enough. 2) 2 mill is a LOT of money for a guy who will be playing a somewhat minor role. 3) we have better players right now who could play the lone striker role. I actually think that he will be bought in order to form a partnership with Boyd for the SPL - that partnership doesn't excite me one bit (not getting at Boyd as I think with the proper partner that he will score for fun, as he has done - but Miller isn't the proper partner in my opinion). The other thing is that, regarding WS going against the Rangers support, he hasn't been afraid of doing so in this tenure and on a few occasions he got it right - actually, during the first half of the season he was proven right almost with EVERY signing he made - sadly the wheels fell off for some in the 2nd half of the season. I don't want Kenny Miller at Ibrox on the grounds I don't think he is good enough - if he signs then he will still get the benefit of the doubt from me until proven otherwise. I still think there are better players out there for 2 million than Miller.
