16.5 Million Reasons why Alan Hutton will Leave Rangers
craig replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Come May they could be looking at a 3rd consecutive title for Celtic. And if that happens one has to hope that the "Moonbeam" statements will be seen for what they are..... LIES. -
Hopefully the punters will see through this Barry. I got an email from the official site stating exactly what you mentioned above and you know what ? It made me SICK. The whole "largest fee for Scottish player, wonderful move etc etc" is yet another Murray "moonbeams" type rhetoric. It just repulses me that the powers that be think the regular punter is so blind and/or stupid to not see through it. The player wanted to stay and the club push him out the door - that is the most worrying statistic to me !

16.5 Million Reasons why Alan Hutton will Leave Rangers

Scotzine, He came back to take control of the club because the debt was rising..... SDM was the one that ALLOWED that debt to happen. No taking away the feat of NIAR - but Celtic were at death's door and no-one else could cope with us financially - so not as difficult as it should otherwise have been. Don't blame the debt specifically on Advocaat - without SDM APPROVING those player purchases there would have not have been as much debt. Some people prefer to see SDM as some sort of messiah.... I choose to think with an open mind. -
I still cant believe the club have pimped him out. That is basically what they have done here. In the future when a player signs an extended contract and then a year later decides he wants out I just hope the powers that be let him as it would be so very hypocritical to push one player out the door (ignorign his contract) and then try to hold another player to the contract they signed. Gutted - but probably mostly due to the way that the club have handled it and the way that they have treated a player who WANTED TO STAY. We all cry out for players who are committed, and here we are, with a guy who is arguably our best player and who wants to stay being shown the door. What a sorry state our club has become.

16.5 Million Reasons why Alan Hutton will Leave Rangers

Good read Frankie. Not sure I agree entirely that it does make good business sense - on the face of it then yes..... but automatic CL qualification goes tot he SPL winners and we have a better chance of winning the league with Hutton in our team (at least until the summer) and the CL riches that are then to be gained. To me it would be a win-win for club and player if we waited till the summer to sell Hutton. We get a guy on top form till the end of the season, Hutton gets to stay as he would like, the club potentially get to win the league and then auto CL qualification. We then sell Hutton (won't be for any less than currently touted), the club get CL riches, the club potentially win the league. That makes far more sense to me - but then no doubt SDM will be trying to reduce the debt in the current accounting year and selling in the summer would go into next years accounts. -
Just read on skysports that Hutton has been offered 33k per week to sign for Spurs...... but Woodgate is apparently getting 60k per week. Maybe it is just me, but there is no way Woodgate is worth double the wages of Hutton.
-
See what you made me do..... I went and calculated a treble - a 100 quid treble would have paid out 1,875 quid. Shouldn't be greedy though.
-
Dancer..... Up 1,050 quid today on the GG's. 3 winners, one at 7/4, one at 11/10 (also had a 100 quid double on them) and one at 9/4 (wish I had trebled them !)

Look at every quote you have heard on this from WS and McCoist.... Every single comment says "from a footballing perspective we are delighted that he wants to stay". That to me suggests what they really mean is "he is a very good footballer who adds to our team, however with an 8 mill offer we cant turn it down so would be delighted to accept the cash". I am reading between the lines but looks to me like they want the cash without coming out and saying it.
-
Did Liverpool not apparently refuse to give Luton all the gate receipts from the last round ? If so, why would they refuse Luton cash that would help them stave off administration then splash out 100k on another team ? I think the Daily Star are talking shite.
-
Was going to post the same thing. You often see players (ala BF) who leave the Gers, regret it and want to come back.... how much would Hutton want to come back after being ushered out the door ? A young guy with a young family plying his trade very well, doesn't want to leave (in January) and we kick him in the arse on his way out. I think it is appalling treatment by the club on the player.
-
Cos they are nice ?
-
They might be if they dont have to stump up the cash immediately and if Chimbonda is forced to stay till season's end - both scenarios unlikely though. Would prefer Hutton to stay. The EPL is stifling so many big clubs outside ot itself that it is worrying. There is a chasm between the big 3 countries (EPL, La Liga and Serie A) and the rest and you can only see it widening.

Man City burst my coupon yesterday - shuold have listened to Gribz.... but then, it looks like Gribz didn't even listen to Gribz....
-
I think that we would at least be showing some level of ambition (in the short-term.... no surprises there huh SDM ?) if we negotiated a deal which meant that he went south for next season but remained with us till the end of this season - at least we would be recognising how important Hutton is to us in a season in which we are chasing the league title hard. It is disappointing that we have to sell him as he could be part of a good young team for a number of years but 10 mill is a good price for him (annoying though that we have to sell him when that lot apparently had a bid of 9 mill for Brown pre-season and refused it - I wish we were keeping our bright players too).
-
Dammit.... I DID put them on my coupon. At least they wont be the team to burst it this week.

The problem (wrong choice of word) with Buffel is that he plays in the hole behind the striker. We are all screaming out for the team to play a 4-4-2 - so in a 4-4-2 he would either have to be in the centre of midfield (where he isnt strong enough and would offer little support to the other CM) or he has to play as one of the strikers, which means we play with a 4-4-1-1 (that could work but you then more than likely get very little support from the other midfielders as they would be playing narrower). The formation which suits Buffel best is the 4-5-1 (or is it 4-3-3........) which funnily enough is the formation we have at present. But even within that formation the problem is that the formation at present is being used such that we have 3 central midfielders who are not forward thinking (aside from BF at times) and the flair is coming from the wide players. Buffel's role as a creative player would either have to be as a wide player (which we all agree is not his preferred position) or one of the central 3 would have to be dropped - and the problem is that it seems WS likes a strong central 3 in midfield with the flair out wide. So even in the 4-5-1 it seems that right now there is no place for Buffel. I would like to see him get a chance though (in the past I would have got rid of him but I think we have such a solid midfield we could accomodate him in certain games - games where it will be tight and a spark of genius will win a game) - the thing is, we all know we need a creative midfielder, Buffel is exactly that - the other option is to sell him and bring in someone new - but 1) you would likely have to spend a few million on a replacement and 2) he may be no better than Buffel. I know most of us think he has had his fair share of chances - but if he is on the wage bill, if he is fit, if he is playing well in the reserves, if he wants to be here (and he made the right noises earlier in the season, he is only now saying he wants to leave due to not getting a chance) and if he is the type of player we need (creative, flair, quality passing) then surely we should be utilising him. I think that today's game against St Mirren would be the IDEAL game for him as they will sit in and play tight, and someone with his creativity is exactly what we could need. With the flexibility we have in the squad with BF, Hemdani, Adam, McCulloch - all of whom can play CM - surely having a flair player like Buffel at least on the bench won't damage the team's chances.

Nah, they just lost the letter in the post. I reckon they might ask the post office to replay the letter though....

Am pretty sure Craig Burley was a Gers supporter as a kid, he grew up not far from me - actually played in the Killie Boys Club team the year ahead of me.

If it is true then there is something seriously wrong at our club. Spurs are offering him at least a 100% pay raise (more if reports are to be believed) yet we are also willing to stump up 12% of the transfer fee to give to Hutton just to ensure we get our hands on additional cash.... I know we don't look like being in the market for top class players anytime soon - but to be selling the crown jewels.... but PAYING for them to be sold - is incredulous !
