  1. Lahm was playingh left back though.
  2. Good man..... I meant to finish my post signed by "The Anorak Man"
  3. You telling me he is only getting paid 385 quid a week at Rangers ??? (20k a year....... I presume you meant 20k a week). The way he has been playing he is worth at least 20k a week IMO.
  4. That is hardly anything outrageous - surely just another Friday night for you ?
  5. I would think so. Certainly not a bad idea. Only problem is getting tenants if you are letting it out. I might look myself.....
  6. What Barry said. Scotzine, you are trying to make Phil O Donnell's sudden and tragic death more of en event than the average person who walks out into the street and gets mowed down by a boy racer. A young boy in my village walked out onto the street and was mowed down - 10 years old, dead. Now, his death was no less tragic OR sudden than Phil O Donnell's was. Media coverage ? ZERO. I have a good friend who was catapulted from his motorcycle over a speeding driver who ended up paralysed from the waist down. Any less tragic than Phil O Donnell ? No. Media coverage ? ZERO. I had a lot of respect for Phil O Donnell and was as dumbfounded at it happening as anyone else - but how or why should his death be any more of a tragedy than any of those above ? It isn't. If Phil O Donnell was playing for an amateur or junior team and this happened then he would have had about 2 paragraphs of media coverage.
  7. I wouldnt be surprised if we got 12 mill for him to be honest but only if there is a bidding war. Reason I think the SPL won't detract too much from his price is that he has also been a star in internationals against two of the best teams around in Italy & France. If we were offered 12 mill I would have to say we should take it - but I still would hate for us to lose him !
  8. What concerns me is that now that the 8 million figure is out there and commonly known that Rangers were prepared to accept it... is that every club now knows how much we would accept, so we are unlikely to get a whole lot more than that unless it comes down to a bidding war. Even a bidding war looks unlikely as Hutton seems to be waiting for a specific club !
  9. I agree with you about everything Gribz.... except the financial side but only in a small way. You obviously are right about him not being sking as a Rangers player but if he is being given a wage increase of 30k a week (not unreasonable given the wages of some EPL players) then that would be hard for ANYONE to turn down. Football is a short career and they all know that - so you need to maximise your bank account as much as possible - many players have nothing else to fall back on so need to maximise their short career. I don't think I am disagreeing with you on anything there except I wouldn't begrudge him making the move for the cash. I am surprised he didnt but better teams than Spurs will come sniffing around him. If he turned Spurs down you can guarantee that it is because he is waiting and hoping for a bigger and better club to come in for him (which I am quite sure WILL happen).
  10. My personal feeling is that it should be a minute's silence but you can bet that the applause came about (not for Phil O Donnell but in general) because of a minority of morons (not just Gers but all teams) who refused to stand in silence for a minute. So the easiest thing to do was to have a minute's applause whereby any dissenters would be drowned out. I think the minute's silence is more appropriate as a minute's applause can often be believed to just be the normal crowd noise willing their team on. But I would rather have a well respected minute's applause with dissenters lost int he noise than a minutes silence with the dissenters easily heard. Onto the team..... I like your team Gribz and normally would be happy to go with that (anyone else impressed by the guile, invention, speed etc of Burke and Naismith against Hibs ?). Naismith and Burke made us look far more creative than we have been all season long and I would like to see both of them retain their places for a run of games to see how they do. However, I was very impressed with the football we played at Hibs so would expect us to play the 4-5-1 with Fergie pushing slightly more forward in midfield (Buffel should have been in the squad to come on and replace him later on if game is won....). Fergie seemed to not dictate everything as much against Hibs - not everything had to go through him and he also let the other players do their jobs which is good. So I would stick with the same team as against Hibs and see how it goes - we obviously can go to 4-4-2 later on but I think with Burke and Naismith we are effectively playing a 4-3-3 anyway. Bring it on !!!
  11. Gersnet rules !! Can someone Pm me the link to gersforums please ? I refuse to use FF - far too busy over there for my liking.
  12. I have a Jambo friend who is MAD about the Jambos. I have been telling him all week that he should be thankful that Gretna are in the league.
  13. If anyone feels so inclined to leave a condolence message here is the link to a website collecting messages http://www.respectance.com/Philodonnell/memories

    Gattuso

He won't be training with us anymore I dont think as Milan just headed off to sunnier climes for their winter training camp.
  15. I disagree with the analogy of him having only shown that form over half a season. He was probably our best performer in the 2nd half of last season and is undoubtedly our best performer in the first half of this campaign. That makes it at least a season by my count..... and I think he was showing signs of very decent potential prior to his leg break as well. Wait and see how much some players sign for EPL clubs for and that would be an indication as to whether 8 mill is fair or not. I would prefer we kept him and 8 mill, to me, is borderline worth taking the money.
  16. I am not convinced that Cousin has hit form in the last few weeks Pete - he has scored a couple of goals admittedly but, to me at least, he still looks disinterested.

    Gattuso

Good man L_A_T. Was also on SSN last week.
  18. So I just read. Thoughts ? I guess from their perspective at least Chesney has finally seen his defence is mince. Will he be better than they already have ? Can't be any worse I suppose !
  19. Indeed - RIP Phil. Shocking to hear it, I was dumbfounded. Puts everything into perspective. Condolences and thoughts most definitely with his family. As said above, never liked seeing him play against us as he had great potential and was a very good box to box midfielder who was cultured. RIP
  20. Barry's a dick. Just kidding, fantastic work Barry and I am sure much of what you do goes unnoticed - but know that we all are glad of all that you do (goes for yout oo Frankie). Although...... I had to actually spend time talking to the wife over Xmas and New Year - shame on you for letting this happen :fish: First thing I told her this morning when I found out Gersnet was back up was "you won't be seeing much of me from now on unless over the top of a laptop screen". Good to have the Gersnet back !
  21. You should post the responses on here from the Tims Frankie - just to give us a New Year laugh !
  22. I think he could be away too - Porto have said Bosingwa isnt for sale so I suspect that Man U will be sniffing around - and the way Hutton has been playing he should be able to get a better team than Spurs.

    Gers Exodus

For someone that has played for us for about 3 months it is incredible to see just how disinterested he is in such a short space of time. I agree, if we get our money back then take it - we could be doing with players who WANT to play for us. He hasn't done it since September/October.
  24. Probably the biggest movement is that two weeks ago we felt we had to go to the mechanodome and avoid defeat (which adds more pressure). Now it would appear that THEY have to avoid defeat, which should add more pressure to them - which is the first time in about 3 years they will have had to haver faced true pressure - will be interesting to see how they handle it
  25. Nice wee 7/1 double up - only a tenner on it though.
