I will keep the phone on the hook just in case my man. I will suffer through the injury for a game.....
-
Tell her yes, take a camcorder to film it then put him on TV.
-
I would prefer to see him stay. I can see an awful lot of talent in him as a DM and, being only 22, we could definitely see the best of him in the next couple of years. He just needs a bit more consistency.
-
Just make sure you get that time off Jon - you will be the proudest man in the stadium ! Good for you inviting the ex and her man - hopefully she will do the right thing.
-
Congratulations to you and your son Jon - great news, who is your local team ? Congratulate him from me. Reminds me of when the wife's sister (wife was only girlfriend at the time) was mascot for a pre-season game for Hibs (played Middlesborough at Easter Road), Nick Barmby had just signed for Middlesborough. She got to meet her favourite player who, at the time was Michael O' Neill - I asked him who would win the league and he said........ "Rangers", cue big smile from me accompanied with a "good lad Michael" - he responded with a "I'm a Gers fan too". Great night, crap game and the hospitality was very good for what, at that time, was quite a poor club.

I wish it was Chris !! The tackle put me back a couple of weeks and at just the wrong time of year ! Was a cracking tackle though !
-
Nothing to do with him but if it is true about players turning up to training half-jaked then that is a lack of professionalism (we turned a blind eye to it in the 9IAR days because we were far superior to the other teams - but when we are badly lagging Celtic as we are, when performances and results are as poor as they are, then that just isn't on (especially when they get paid as much as they do to do a job). Don't know about you guys but if I consistently turned up at my job in no fit state to carry out that job then I wouldn't last long. Maybe, JUST maybe, PLG was trying to make the club and its players a bit more professional and forward-thinking. Again though, we will just never know how good, or bad, he could have been for us.

I strained my medial ligaments about 6 weeks ago and the physio (one of, if not the, best on the island) says that it is a MINIMUM of 4 weeks to get back playing and even now after 6 weeks I still feel it (though the rugby tackle I took at a New year's party didnt help). Obviously Webster will be getting much more intensive treatment than I am but still I would be surprised if he is back before mid Feb

Gribz, You used Gravesen as your example and he did nothing in Europe when he went to Madrid, he also struggled to hold down a first team place - not the best example for you to use I would suggest. I know what you are saying though and agree we could be doing with some experience in there - I always liked the way Souness built his first Gers team - he built a spine of the team which was experienced and tough (physically AND mentally) and it reaped great rewards for us.
-
True Jim, but then he also hasn't really shown enough to DESERVE the opportunity.
-
Exactly Jim. Why some fans get hung up on having to sign players who have "made it" is beyond me. There are plenty of players who came through the ranks of smaller teams that went on to be outstanding players yet some of our fans would rather we went for the established players with established teams - doesn't mean anything unless they can adapt to our game in Scotland. The main thing for us is to get players who can improve the team and the squad and, for the rest of this season, ensure 2nd place but with an eye on next season and challenging Celtic for the title - because lets be honest (my opinion only) they are not that good of a team and are definitely there for the taking and that is WITH those players who came from established clubs. Their big-name, big-money signings in Graveson, JVoH and KM have hardly set the heather alight thus far for them - I thought Graveson would be a great signing for them but have to agree with Jim.... he looks mince !

Gersnet Analysis: Sir Davie McFly and Short-termism
craig replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Another thing, from Walter's perspective..... IF Scotland qualify for the Euro's would he really want to GET them there and then NOT manage them in the finals ? I think if that statement has come from the SFA then it is a poor-show - they are either saying that they have no trust that Walter will get us to the finals or they are saying "thanks for getting us to the dance Walter, now you can go home". -
Then the chairman has the power - but it should never be the players making that decision for him (I am not saying this is what happened though)

Did PLG know he was getting the bullet and dropping BF was his swansong
craig replied to a topic in Rangers Chat
I am more and more coming round to this as the reasoning for the recent chain of events. If it is, then BF has been made to be a scapegoat by PLG and PLG in that event diminishes what credibility I had for him - and it is also a very unprofessional, not to mention unethical, way of attempting damage limitation. My caveat is, as it always was, that we still do not know the truth and rumour abounds - we likely will never know the full truth of what happened, sadly. -
Sorry bud, couldn't help it....
-
Neither have I to be fair - I have, however, heard of Andy Webster
-
I believe they need to clear it with UEFA or FIFA.
-
Most would disagree with you Pete
-
True..... but then there is also not necessarily any correlation between the results and BF's involvement. All the stats say is that when BF has played our results haven't been as good as when he hasn't - STILL no correlation on whether BF is a major component of the faltering results.
-
Was going to say the same thing. Also you can't say that BF was to blame entirely for the results whilst he was playing but there could be an argument that him doing "too much" for the team actually hinders rather than helps the team (from a tactical perspective). Me, being an accountant, stats only mean what you wan't them to.
-
I am not annoyed that we cherry-pick the other Scottish clubs - what does annoy me is that our scouting, talent-enhancing department should be far stronger than Hibs, Killie and all the other teams that bring youngsters through - yet it doesn't seem to be. This is costing us millions of pounds by not unearthing these guys - and yes I know we have a few in our team at present who came through the ranks but if we are looking at buying these players then someone feels they improve the squad/team.
-
Such harsh words when the most relevant of them is your first word.... IF It hasn't been proven yet that he DID want away in September. Given that rumour there is also the rumour that if Murray backed him then he would still be there so, much like for the proverb "for every action there is a reaction" for every rumour there is a re-rumour (bad analogy I know) - but there are rumours abound and we STILL are not much closer to the truth.
-
Already a thread on this mate
-
No different to the PLG haters had it in for him - neither is particularly fair. Time to move on me thinks
-
Would we have to pay them off though ? Many of the players we had to pay off it was because they had over-inflated wages that no other club would pay so we had no option but to pay them off. With our increased financial prudence I can't imagine these guys were getting stupid amounts of money, certainly I would think their wages would be on a par with what other clubs would offer - if that is the case then no need for a pay-off. Speculation again though !
