Firstly, I don't see how it can be a scheme to boost season tickets, given that no plans have been announced and, if anything, it has created more uncertainty in the support. As for the land, it has not been sold to the club as far as I am aware. I'm not sure that it was ever the plan that Rangers themselves were to buy it. I've heard people say that PPG own it, but I don't think that a transfer of ownership ever went through before the funding for the project disappeared. There certainly could be opportunity to resurrect the project for anyone who does buy us, but that wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing for the club, even if it were not directly invovled in the project initially.

Welcome to the site, mate. I don't think there is generally a bad feeling towards FF on here. Both Gersnet and FF have their strengths and weaknesses and both are good sites.

So should we praise him for stuff that we disagree with?

Apparently he said that he didn't know why anyone would invest in Scottish football, then announced that Rangers were a snip at £30m.

Has we not won the league last year things may have been different, but we were never in any danger of administration after that.

He was wittering on for months about the "fact" that the club would definitely be sold by the end of last year, and then it was the end of the transfer window and then....... I recently heard him perpetuating the lie that Celtic were hard done by with the Fortune decision against us at Parkhead. His problem is that he is not that intelligent and he ends up believing the propoganda that comes naturally to most at RC, and starts repeating it himself.

Nothing seems to have happened following the Assembly fans forum, which is disappointing given Andy Kerr's assurances of follow-up. I'm sure the current situation of the club would be used as an excuse, but that shouldn't prevent action being taken to restructure it to cover more sections of the support than it currently does, and to make it more accessible, independent and accountable.

Rangers as it stands minus CL involvement
Bluedell replied to OnlyOneAmoruso's topic in Rangers Chat
If I knew the answer, i'd be leading the consortium and not Ellis. Co-incidentally I have spoken someone with Guernsey-based money about the the possibility of buying the club, but it never got past basic discussions as I can't come up with a sustainable model of how the club could be self-financing without a level of risk that would be unacceptable to them....which will be the same as many others and why nobody has been rushing to buy the club over the past few years. We are probably not a million miles away from breaking even before paying interest and before the buying (and selling) of players. IF we can get the debt cleared, and finance the purchase of players through European football and the sale of other players then we could break-even. It would likely see a lot less being spent on players over the medium term than we are used to if this approach was taken, unless it could be supplemented with external one-off funding, that Murray was fairly good at generating (Enic, King, NTL, JJB), but again there are no guarantees that these deals can be done in the future. In the last few years, we have done well with Boumsong, Hutton and Cuellar, but there are no guarantees of doing similar in the future, and our ability for spending may be limited, particuarly with CL football being more unlikely with the lower co-efficient. -
Rangers as it stands minus CL involvement
Bluedell replied to OnlyOneAmoruso's topic in Rangers Chat
If we look at last year's accounts as our base (as they had no European football) we made a loss of £19.7m before exceptional items (mainly the gain on sale of players). If we went into next season with exactly the same players, wages and other costs are down around £8m and amortisation could be down around £3m. We could be looking at a loss of around £8.5m. However if we had the Europa league then it would bring in some income as could the sale of players, but we are a bit away from breaking even without any European football. -
My secretary is primed to say I'm in a meeting if Frankie calls me.

Some of us know N_L and have no reason to doubt what he says, and the fact that he has got the information first hand makes it different from normal rumours.

It's for sale and a hell of a lot cheaper than an EPL club?

Discussions formally opened with 'certain interested parties'
Bluedell replied to OnlyOneAmoruso's topic in Rangers Chat
Yes. The accountants that perform it do it soley for their clients and any liability arising from it would be limited to their clients. They would not be happy for anyone else to have access to it. Likewise the clients would not want anyone else to get the benefit of their report if they are still wanting to buy it themselves. If someone else wants due diligence carried out, it's doubtful that they could use the first set of accountants as well due to conflicts of interest so they would need to get another company to carry it out.- 129 replies

Yeah, I remembered that they had done it on a few ridiculous cases in the past. I just couldn't remember the precise examples.

It may be less on Rangers, as it should be fairly straightforward, although it's been many years since I've been involved in such a process so I may have lost touch. The fees for due diligence would go to the accountants who perform it.- 129 replies

Bluedell replied to OnlyOneAmoruso's topic in Rangers Chat
I doubt that they would make it exclusive at this stage, but presumably a price in the ball park of being acceptable would need to be proposed first, together with proof that the finance was available before the club would open up their books to an interested party.- 129 replies

I guess it's not beyond the realms of possibility that he's involved in a minor role in the Ellis proposal or perhaps some other consortium.- 129 replies

Yeah, Paddy Power do this a lot. Good publicity, as Frankie says.

I doubt that the books are that difficult to understand. Likewise, there will currently be minimal transfer feews outstanding, either in or out.- 129 replies

The only thing that was sung last night that could be remotely described as "sectarian" was "We are Rangers, super Rangers", and even then most people didn't sing the F word. However I tend to think that the texters were getting upset by the Edu song.

A Tale of Integrity, Fair-mindednesss and Hypocrisy
Bluedell replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
That incident is one of the most disgusting acts by a football club I have ever come across and anyone who tries to defend it deserves no respect.
