If we sell Bougherra and Weir steps down then we would need another centre half, and he may be the most cost effective answer. However I don't think that Walter fancies him, and it could depend on new ownership/management.

A Tale of Integrity, Fair-mindednesss and Hypocrisy
Bluedell replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
I don't recall Rangers ever doing what Celtic have done in the past 2 weeks. Have we disclosed the fact that we were complaining about the refereeing situation prior to an OF game? Have we implied that a ref was not fair-minded? Have we had an ex-manager come out and say that our club has been receiving biased decisions for 50 years? Have we had a player come out and question a ref's impartiality? All in under a 2 week period? Perhaps teams do complain more when they are in second place, but they certainly don't behave like Celtic have done. I'm not sure of the relevence of the Gazza example. I'm sure every team could look at most incidents and highlight similar decisions that have been given for/against them in the past. It doesn't change the fact that Brown was correctly sent off. -
I'm sure Bougherra is off in the summer. The future is more likely to be Webster and Wilson, although Wilson seems uninterested in signing a new contract and therefore may also have to be sold in the summer.

We are commited to working to the well-documented business plan at the moment. You say "Get the management team signed up on new contracts, get Boyd & a few others signed on new contracts". The big problem is how much the business plan allows us to do. It seems that any contracts that are offered have to be able to be financed in every year of the contract, and there will be the assumption that we have no CL football in every season except the next one. While this may be sound business sense, it appears to allow NO room for speculation in respect of the playing squad and could perhaps mean that the impact of CL football for next season will be spread over 3 or 4 seasons. Over a 3 or 4 year period we may be seen just to break-even and continue to prevent new signings into the club. This may also limit the level of expenditure on the management team's contracts and this could all mean that the likes of Boyd mmay not sign because they can see the club is going to continue to be down-sized due to the current restrictions in place. We have to hope that any new owner of the club will ensure the restrictions of the business plan are lifted and while hopefully running the club in a prudent manner, can provide funding and have some level of speculative spending that's not based on a worse-case scenario.- 129 replies

Given the illiquidity of the market, the reasons for buying and selling in individual transactions can influence the price of relatively small transactions, and don't, in their own, mean much. I'm fairly sure the RST would not involved in the purchase of shares of any amounts larger than a few hundred.- 129 replies

Beasley hides too much for me, and is inconsistent. There's better out there.

The share price only went up 1p around the time when we won the league last season. The share price will not relevant to the amount that the club will be sold for anyway, given the illiquidity of the market.- 129 replies

How independent are Bain and McIntyre, given that they have share options, exercisable at 62.5p and it is therefore in their best interests to get the value of the shares up, even if this is detrimental to the club going forward?- 129 replies

The chart made it appear that the deal on Friday was at 40.5p. However the fact remains that the market mid price closed at 40.5p on Friday and the midprice is now 44.5p, so it has only increased 10%. http://www.plusmarketsgroup.com/chart.shtml?ISIN=GB0007237380/GBX/PLUS-exn- 129 replies

No it hasn't. Current mid price is 44.5p. Most of the deals since mid Feb have been at 42.5p, although there was one done on Friday at 40.5p, but the reason for the lower price could possibly be that is was bigger volume (8,000 shares), which drove the price temporarily down.- 129 replies

I think that the decision was made a Holyrood level. yes, I think Purcell supported it. My take was that the SNP didn't want to waste money on an area that is solid-Labour, and prefer to have their resources spent elsewhere, as well as them not having any personal interest in using Glasgow Airport. That's why we have seen the growth of EDI over the past few years. It would have been different if the Scottish parliament was based in Glasgow.- 129 replies

At the moment. Is there not some sort of time restriction on that though and it could change in the future? The direct GARL has been cancelled. There is, however, the chance of the resurrection of the project that SDM was discussing pre-recession.- 129 replies

John Greig? FFS. Perhaps the club aren't taking this too seriously after all.- 129 replies

Excellent. Gets annoyed when he trys to buy his own seat and can't as he already has it in his season ticket, and thinks the club have sold it to someone else.

If the press were doing their jobs correctly it'd already be there, instead of allowing themselves to be manipulated into focussing on referees, rather than the shortcomings of that east end midden of a club.

THE nominees for Rangers Player of the Year 2010 have just been announced click here to have your say in who wins this prestigious award and others such as Young Player of the Year. The nominees are: - Madjid Bougherra - Kris Boyd - Steven Davis - Lee McCulloch - Kenny Miller - Sasa Papac
-
Davis has not been consistent throughout the whole season. He under-performed during August to November, but has been outstanding since the start of December. McCulloch has been our most consistent midfielder by a long way, but Davis's performances for the past 3 months have out-shone everyone else in the team.

I bet they don't use anything from the 2007/8 season.

Also, your team doesn't have enough youths in it. :box:
