No, they are not acting as a bank in the way I'd expect banks to act. They should be trying to improve the well-being of the club to allow us to get in a position to repay the debt, and not stifle us, setting it up so that key management can leave tomorrow and key assets of the club can leave for nothing at the end of the season. You have very strange expectations of the way a bank should operate.

Would you Take Part in a Protest Against Lloyds Bank?
Bluedell replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
It's for us to operate withoin the confines of what has been agreed by the bank. We seem to be doing that but what they are doing is threatening our ability to win the league, and therefore threatening our abilty to repay the debt. You are saying that the bank can now do anything they want to us? Well as a businessman, I'd say that's unacceptable. They should not be allowed to lend a company money and then turn round and threaten the ongoing stability of the company because they wish to change the terms of the lending facility. We can afford Walter, we can afford to bring an extra player in. So can the bank now do anything they want to us, and you find it totally acceptable? Is there a line that they can cross that you would think was not within their rights?- 20 replies

Makes fans more aware of the reality of Rangers' situation. Why would that be a bad thing?

Will leave work to make sure I listen. ...although I'm an active member of the trust and he hasn't asked my opinion....
-
I believe so.

Thanks for that, Z. That proves that Muir has a longer reach than we first thought. :fish:

Rangers 2 - 0 St Johnstone: Player Ratings and MoM Poll

Was Lafferty really that bad? I didn't see all the game as I was working but he looked OK in the bits that I saw. -
Muir has allegedly complained to Herald/ET management about Darryl King. 26th says that DK has not been seen for a few weeks. You would think that Muir would have no influence over the newspapers unless Newsquest has Lloyds as bankers, hence my question. Moving into the realms of fantasy, but why not?
-
MIH have been unable to meet their loan repayments, so I am speculating that any additional cash raised by the sale of Rangers would go towards MIH's debt. Remember that it's principally a subsidiary of MIH that's the shareholder and not SDM himself.
-
It'd be interesting to know who Newsquest's bankers were...

What you say is possible, but goes against points 4, 9 and 14 (at least) if he is taking that attitude. I thought that the reported McGregor deal had quotes from Redknapp.
-
Playing devil's advocate for a minute, why did Muir not force the club to accept the bid for McGregor?
-
Yes, they were bailed out by the Government and as such have a duty to the taxpayers not to give away cash that they don't need to. They may have accepted cut price deals on debt where companies do not have the assets to meet their obligations, but we are not in that category. I don't see it as being uneven.
-
Dave King has an investment in the club. Paul Murray would be the obvious candidate.
-
There seems to be 2 issues: 1. The way that they are allegedly running the club under Muir. 2. the price that they appear to be wanting for a debt free Rangers. I think that they can be criticised for point 1 a lot more than point 2. I still don't see any reason why the bank should have to accept anything less than £1 for £1 for the debt, although I get the feeling that they are looking for more than that, which still may not be unreasonable.
-
If what you say is true then why are the rest of the directors of the club allowing it to happen? Rhetorical question, I guess, but there's at least one of them who could resign and make a statement to confirm what you have said, which would really put pressure on the bank and perhaps significantly help save our club.
-
Can't criticise him for point 1, mate.

Allegedly under instructions from the bank.

Would you Take Part in a Protest Against Lloyds Bank?

Here is a post by sccgers on FF. "Walter Smith sanctioned the sale of Pedro Mendes to allow him funds to strengthen other parts of the first team. One main target was Obertan on loan which had Sir Alex's blessing and the young Swedish boy Kujovic who we were linked with last week These attempts were blocked by Muir who insisted no money will be made available, the bank were taking that, but half of the Mendes basic wage - £7-9k per week could be used on a loan signing However, when Walter went with Bain to Muir on the last day of the window he stalled so much that no deal was ever possible This has been the end for Smith who as you seen last night is on the brink As I also said last week, the contract offers for the first team players including Kris Boyd have been blocked by Muir and further to that his plan is to let these players leave this summer and further to that, also raise cash from the sale of other top team players. Further to his other actions were he has tried to sack the management, sell players behind the managements back and even sack the head groundsman. My source comes from within the high corridors of Ibrox and has been right with many things before - including the sale of Mendes, 1st bid by the consortium amongst other stuff. " People have the right to believe whether what he says is accurate or not, but his source is known, and there is no apparent reason not to believe this.- 20 replies

Brilliant idea, Andy. Way, way beyond anything I could do though.
-
Why do you think that?
-
Administration is not the answer. We do not want that. Once the club was under the administrators' powers then anything could happen. I see that the consortium seem to be claiming that they have signed a confidentiality agreement and that's why they can't come out and say anything. It certainly causes them some issues, but they seem to be able to get across what Muir is up to. I wonder why that's the only message that they feel they can get across? They need to get a bit more creative and realise that they need to get larger sections of the support on their side.

Bluedell replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Spot on. He has upped his game during the last couple of months, which is a major reason as to why we are where we are. -
One would think that walter would have a far better idea of what was going on than you do.
