I thought Wilson had said he was a Gio target, but it could be that both wanted him (or I've got it wrong).

You mean a Gio target?

I guess I'd argue that we do have a manager, rather than a first team coach, irrespective of titles. I get what you're saying to an extent, but it gets thrown out the window when you bring in a new manager who uses different tactics, or different tactics are adopted with the same manager (see Tierney and Walker suffering from tactical changes at Arsenal and City). Obviously there are times when it's irrelevant what a manager says (we aren't turning down Bassey or Patterson transfers or bidding for Bellingham) but we seem to still be largely following what the manager wants, rather than him having no say and the DoF making the transfer decisions. -

Agree with your example, but nothing like that was done. Looking at Alfie and kent for example, people are getting their knickers in a twist for them leaving for free. While it's not ideal, Gerrard didn't want to sell them 2 summers ago, and it's doubtful they would have agreed to leave last summer anyway...and presumably Gio wanted them to stay. I'm not sure when people think Wilson should have put his foot down and tried to sell them. Nothing that was done was totally outrageous without the benefit of hindsight. -

So you want the board to make footballing decisions and overrule the manager? -

Agreed. Gerrard apparently insisted that the 55 squad was left intact but yet Wilson is receiving the criticism for the fallout from that. Presumably Gio had a similar say last summer on the likes of Kent and Morelos. Do many of our fans really want our manager being overruled by a DoF? It seems so. -
Another great point that Davie Edgar made is that Celtic's market capitalisation is £108m and ours is £111m at 25p, which further pours ridicule in King's argument that our shares are worth 40p.

Although it wasn't publicised as far as I know, Park also made a bid for the club around that time, but I don't think that's what Murray was referring to. I'm led to understand that Park's bid was effectively zero but taking on responsibility for the debt, and there was no chance of Murray agreeing to that at that point.

Also the medical side seems a lot weaker than it was when Gerrard was around. We appears to have gone backwards in that area. -

Most of Brighton's great recruitment was done under Dan Ashworth, I believe, but Weir seems to also be doing a great job. I can't imagine Weir leaving a team that's 7th in the EPL, with a fantastic recruitment record, to come here. -

Brighton say "David will oversee all football operations; including recruitment, analysis, medical and player welfare, across both the men's and women's set-up." -

Wilson publicly said it was Gio's calls, while Gio still was with us. I doubt he'd lie about that. If that is the case then it seems strange to criticise Wilson for bringing in players that the manager wants, as many are doing. -
So King was happy to sell his shares to C1872 a few months ago at 25p but turned down 40p? This party has £25m to buy shares from King for 14.2% of the club. The board are willing to issue shares at 25p, so if they had got new shares from the club they could have owned 18.5% of the club, which would be £25m better off, but this party would prefer to buy shares from King? 40p a share values the club at £177m. It's inherently loss making and has net assets of £41m so is the valuation of 40p realistic? King, of course, wishes to make this story public after an OF defeat.

Although this will go down well with a section of the support, I'm concerned about the impact it may have on the negotiations that may be going on in regards to the players that Beale has identified for next season. -
It's because modern managers want their full backs to add a lot to the team by attacking. Tactically they don't want someone who can mainly defend and isn't prone to attacking.

Morelos. Scored, should have been played in by Kent for another, linked play up well and generally played well.

There have been some loans from the directors that had interest. If the directors/investors have maxed out the investments that they're willing to make (and it's that which Buster was referring to with his "throwing it into a fire" comment) and the club need short term finance then they can either go to a bank or see if any of the directors are willing to lend the cash with interest attached. -

Yeah, I wonder if that's partly why Park stepped away now, as well as not wanting the bother of hearing the complaints after Saturday's game, and also not wanting to have to rub shoulders with them this weekend? -

The dream was to be owned by Rangers fans who only wanted what's best for the club and who were willing to stick millions in. We've got that and many are still not happy. If there were other bears willing to invest, do people not think they'd have come forward during the last 15 years? Park has been referred to as a clown and a tyrant 🤦♂️ I despair. If many fans carry on as they are they will get the chance that they're calling for and they won't like it! -

They've continued to support us financially throughout the 8 years. It's not as if they just stopped 8 years ago. The £38m is the first team playing squad, so the balance covers the manager and his team, the reserves/youths, the women and all non-footballing staff, including the 487 part-timers that assist on matchdays. Many of the support at the moment seem to be suggesting that we should be spending more, and not less. Presumably it was the best deal on offer at that time. We have been hampered by the ongoing SD legal case at the time of negotiation. A lot of people are saying that change is needed but I'm not sure that they know what they want (I'm not including you in that). Self-sustainability was always going to be very difficult, unless we look at downsizing the quality/quantity of the playing squad. Other than finding a Patterson or Bassey every couple of years, we will struggle in the short-term. -
Tillman as he was the only one who looked like scoring.

I went to the Saint Phnx gig at NEH on Friday. It was my first time in it and I was quite impressed. Got the search going in but it was quick and in the hall in no time. Getting beers was also quick if you go to the wee bar outside the hall. The hall itself was much bigger than I thought it would be and a great size and shape for gigs. It's smaller than O2 Academy and Barrowlands and probably would go up against the likes of SW3G, although NEH is a better shape in my opinion so could become a possibility for other gigs. The major downside to attracting acts is being able to supply available dates as presumably they would want to stay away from match days and we won't know the fixtures until much nearer the time, which isn't ideal for those planning tours. I'm not an expert on sound but it seemed to me to be average. It wasn't great during the support group Noise (Glasgow's loudest new indie band) who were a bog standard indie band but were OK. It did improve unsurprisingly during Saint Phnx. Saint Phnx themselves were excellent. It was more of a Rangers crowd than a Saint Phnx crowd so were a bit muted during the opener Glorious. Stevie realised that and jumped into the crowd during the second song to get them going, then promptly fell on his arse when returning to the stage. Stevie and Al did really well to keep the crowd entertained when many weren't fans. Biggest cheer of the night was for Make Us Dream, which Stevie said may be the only time they play it live. They also did their best known hit Happy Place, which is their only song I'm not a fan of. My only complaint was that the gig lasted around 60 minutes rather than the 75 they had said earlier in the day so not sure if they cut it short, but everyone who went seemed to have a great time and my wee cousin, who I went with, wants to see them again. It's great to see a band who aren't scared to show that they are big Rangers fans. All in all, a successful evening for both Saint Phnx and NEH. My only question is whether I risk venturing to see them again on Saturday at the Barrowland after an OF game at Parkhead!

I walked straight in to the Govan Rear. No problems. There were surprisingly large queues for the Front though, as you say. I didn't have any issues with the sound quality, but I guess it can vary depending on where you sit. Although I mentioned Albertz, there were others who were advertised and never appeared like Vignal, McManaman, Fowler etc. A bit of mis-selling.

An enjoyable enough game. The non-appearance by Albertz was a huge disappointment though.
