The Sun reports on Celtic Fans' Poppy Protest
Bluedell replied to Frankie's topic in General Football Chat
The 36th (Ulster) Division was a division of Lord Kitchener's New Army formed in September 1914. It was originally called the Ulster Division. The 36th were one of the few divisions to make significant gains on the first day on the Somme. During the Battle of the Somme the Ulster Division was the only division of X Corps to have achieved its objectives on the opening day of the battle. This came at a heavy price, with the division suffering in two days of fighting, 5,500 officers and men, killed, wounded or missing. War correspondent Philip Gibbs said of the Division, "Their attack was one of the finest displays of human courage in the world." In total nine members of the 36th Division were awarded the Victoria Cross. -

As I pointed out in another thread, the Green Brigade were able to bring a Michael Davitt banner into their ground and are still be allowed to operate as a supporters group by the club despite this and other offences. It shows the tacit approval that their club have for such acts.
-
Exactly. As I pointed out earlier, Boyd did that to the very end of the stand. Burley would have been sitting in the middle and would have been nowhere near the area that Boyd was looking.

And yet Ricky thinks that singing "Build my Gallows" is as bad as songs that contravene the Act in question. -
Townhead, that's stirring it. :admin:

Do they still own them? Don't see them in the accounts.

I like the 3D effect of no. 5 (the 7th one).

Don't recall ever seeing it, mate. Here are a couple of sites with tattoos in them. Don't think the one you are looking for is there but I may have missed it. Good luck! http://www.rangersloyal.co.uk/gallery/index.php?gallery=Tattoo's http://bochum-loyal-rsc.de/

A player has a personal go at a manager and the manager goes to him cap-in-hand and this won't be seen as weakness in the dressing room? Sorry, don't agree, guys.

Decisions going celtic's way at the celtic - Motherwell game - Motherwell clearly scored at 0-0 and the goal wasn't allowed as it was claimed that it didn't cross the line. Motherwell player is sent off when not deserved.

Butcher has been anti-Rangers for a while, as was shown by the comments in his latest autobiography.

Same people that decided a one or two minute silence were appropriate for the last 90 years. People throughout the country have been doing it at remembrance parades, churches etc ever since 1919. Applauding instead of having a minute's silence is disrespectful. -
I'm sure Burley would be happy for a meeting but it has to be Boyd who instigates it. Burley going to Boyd on bended knee isn't the sign of a first class manager. Name another first class manager who would do that. It would be the sign of a weak manager. What would Burley say anyway? Please come back and I'll guarantee to play you? What happens of Boyd has a loss of form? Does Burley have to then pick him? If he doesn't will Boyd go off in a huff again? Boyd's in the wrong here and he has to be the one to sort the problem.
-
I don't see any reason for Burley to beg him to come back. If Boyd makes the decision then he lives with it. Burley and the Scottish national team has to get on with it.
-
It was at the end of the stand he was looking. I would imagine Burley would be in the centre.

Not sure of the relevence to a British football club being anti-British. -

They get up to it at home games as well, and their behaviour is therefore officially sanctioned. They get away with their "some men fight for silver" banner or their Michael Davitt banner. Just why do Celtic allow the Green Brigade to continue to operate? I'm starting to see a pattern emerge....... -

No they weren't. Celtic as a club are damned for holding a minute's applause. They had the option of doing the right thing or the wrong thing and they did the wrong thing. They allowed themselves to be dictated to by the "lunatic fringe" (who seemed to be in the majority at Tynecastle). Let's be honest. They did what suited them as they didn't want to do it. Have they done it in the past? No. Have they worn poppies on their strips in the past? No. Why is that? Because of a lunatic fringe? No. Because your club is inherently anti-British? Yes. -
Rangers only made an operating profit of £641,000.

I'd agree with your comment in bold, and it could be the reason for the difference in our observations. Hopefully you're correct, as the questioning of the Chairman can only be a good thing.

They were all available in the summer and there were no takers. I don't expect to many to appear in the next window either. Gisabeer, Thomson?

Got to say that I haven't seen this. The people that always had issues still have them and people who only care about the result on a Saturday were concerned about the defeat by Kaunus, but are now back to where they were following a good league run. The biggest problem is that forums like this are read by such a small percentage of our support.

What Now for the Sectarian Songbook of Celtic Fans?
Bluedell replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Perhaps Ricky can correct me but from the brief highlights I saw, I'm sure I heard the Merry Ploughboy with their "And I'm off to join the I.R.A." line, "Go home, ya huns" (but no Rangers in sight), and the James McGrory song with add-ons (IRA, FTQ). Probably a lot more on top but I didn't see much of the game.- 37 replies

But that seemed to be more for off-field activities rather than form.
