Absolutely not. Better to take action now and show that unadvised tweets or coming out in support of corruption and blackmail have consequences.

Rangers Management, Players Agree 50% Wage Deferrals
Bluedell replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
MPs are getting an additional expense allowance and not a pay increase as you are incorrectly implying. MPs at £1,600/week are not comparable to EPL players getting £50K-£200/ week. If you do want to discuss the rights and wrongs of MPs salaries and expenses then take it to the Bluenose Lounge. -
It's a huge increase, but perhaps part of it is that it's been great value for money over the last couple of seasons due to the European runs. However that quickly disappears if we get papped out after our first game.

3 payment options - full amount, half up front then balance in October or 6 months direct debit. Suggests that they're moving away from the credit card option given the cashflow issues for the club involved with it.

SPFL Season declaration challenged legally (ongoing discussion)

Agreed. It's good to see proactive actions. -
SPFL Season declaration challenged legally (ongoing discussion)

Particularly as they've still to play each other. 13 team league. ? Do you see the 16 team league just playing each other home and away once? the issue with that is that it would result in a big drop in income for all of the clubs, either from gate money and a vastly reduced TV deal as there would only be 30 games rather than 38, and only 2 OF games a season. -
Rangers Management, Players Agree 50% Wage Deferrals
Bluedell replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
I haven't said that because they earn more they should be taking cuts and I don't believe I've criticised them. As rbr points out, we've (a generic 'we') all got contracts and have taken pay cuts and reduced hours, irrespective of salary. I'm not sure I see the relevance of them having a contract or the amount that they are paid as to why they can't do it when millions around the country are doing it. Yes, I wanted staff furloughed and the club have seen the economic sense behind that, agreed with my logic and taken action. Last week you didn't want staff furloughed but you still haven't explained why, as the staff are no worse off and the club are better off. If they are taking the attitude of owing us nothing then it's understandable, but it's certainly not commendable. As I've said, they have done a reasonably good thing, but their actions are underwhelming, unlike the many who are making real sacrifices to ensure that their employer has a future. -
Rangers Management, Players Agree 50% Wage Deferrals
Bluedell replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
A lot of people outside of the public sector are having to take pay reductions, but players in general seem to believe that they are above doing that. Why should they? To help fund the shortfall in income that the club are suffering. Some of that shortfall is money that it's extremely unlikely the club will ever see. What have bankers got to do with Rangers? There's at least one bank where the CEO is waiving his salary and senior managers are taking a 25% pay cut, but it's not relevant to us. The players are lucky that they are in the position that it's extremely unlikely that they will be made redundant as they are financial assets and can be sold by the club and therefore they are in a position of power, hence their refusal to take cuts. The wage deferral is certainly better than nothing but the club will be missing income when it comes to them being reimbursed in July, which will presumably be funded out of next year's season ticket cash rather than the cash being used for next season. It's good that the club are reducing costs by placing staff on furlough and it's reasonably good that the players are deferring part of their salaries, which does help the supporters if it does delay the renewals as you suggested. However, ultimately it's at no real cost to themselves so any praise due is limited. -

That could well be true, but in your example, they're just £1,000 out as they're getting £5K a week, so they could finance the £1,000 out of savings or take a short-term loan knowing that they are getting an additional £65,000 in July, which will top up their savings or pay off their loan. Many people I know are taking a permanent hit of between 20%-40% over the next 3 months (at least) and they'll never get it back. The players may be very proud of themselves, but I can't get too excited about it. -
Yeah, McGrain was 10 times the player that McKimmie was. I'd never heard of Martis, but with one cap, does he really deserve to be in front of, say, McLeish?

These are my feelings as well. It's great if the club are able to defer season ticket renewals (shows that they read Gersnet ) and that they're using the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme. However I'm underwhelmed at the wage deferral. As TB says, it's hardly a sacrifice and they're not really worse off. If I was asked to take a 50% wage deferral for 3 months or a 10% wage cut for 3 months, I'd jump at the deferral. -
The OP was on the basis of the rumour that season ticket renewals were going to be issued his week. Part of the issue is that you are correct and we are unsure how it's going to pan out, which in itself begs the question of selling tickets for games when we don't know when they will be occurring and what level of enforced social distancing will be in place at that point. It's a Rangers forum so it would seem a bit odd to criticise anyone else. I'm being critical of the club in that they haven't taken action to reduce costs when that avenue is available to them. It's not a difficult decision to take.
-
Pretty sure I was referring to the OP. As helpful a post as the gloating tone about your financial position in your previous post was. My emotional connection to the purchase of my season ticket does make it a unique transaction. It's a shame you don't feel the same.
-
Lucky you. It's great if you can do that without a second thought but what about those who are in financial difficulty at the moment?
-
We would surely have heard if they had put staff onto furlough. There must be some staff sitting at home not working. Action should have been taken as soon as the lockdown was announced.
-
Some employers, like mine, are paying the minimum because the other alternative is redundancies, which we'd prefer not to do. It doesn't make them a bad employer per se, but the circumstances obviously differ from company to company.
-
Very difficult at the moment, Craig. No cash coming in for the next few months and trying not to make anyone redundant. We're a profitable group but this is proving to be a very trying time. Far worse than anything we've had in the past. However we're all well, which is the main thing at the present time.
-
I don't see why furloughing staff is unpalatable. Most companies, even profitable ones (which we are not) will be doing it. We are a loss making company that has financial restraints and why shouldn't we use the funding that's available? Is it through some loyalty towards HMRC, given the favourable way they've treated us in the past? ?
-
Why is furloughing our staff not looking after them? If necessary, the club can make up the other 20% of their pay and they are no worse off but we have saved 80% of their salary while they are not working. Why would you rather the club incurred the cost if they are not working rather than having it financed by the government? Surely those at the club realise that? I've already highlighted why this isn't like any other season and the financial issues that the support have. The club can't even tell us if or when the season will start and they're wanting our cash, without apparently taking any steps to mitigate the situation. The club appear to be treating it as a normal season and don't appear to be taking account of the fans, which was the whole point of the OP. Perhaps you're lucky enough not to be financially impacted by the current crisis but there will be many who are but you and the club don't seem to be in the slightest concerned about them.
-
Why are they waiting? Get costs under control now. TUI have made 11,000 staff furloughed. Why haven't Rangers done the same with their "relatively small" number of staff who are currently doing nothing? It all helps at this time. There is nothing to have prevented the club putting people on furlough a week ago. The furlough letters that came out yesterday only referred to the EPL, and these are no excuse as to why the club are not doing something. There's cash available from the Government. Why aren't we taking advantage of it? Why are we being asked for season ticket cash at this point if all the funding is in place and if there's no concerns? Are they considering the financial turmoil that their fans are going through. I received a call from a mate yesterday who is concerned about it as he has no cash coming in at the moment. The club's statement on one hand may be reassuring but there's now no incentive for players to look at their wages and take pay cuts, which other clubs throughout Europe have been able to achieve, and yet the fans are still being asked to cough up.
-
"Please renew your season tickets while we continue to fully pay our highly paid players and make no efforts to reduce costs." I've not been following social media much recently but there's a rumour that the club are issuing the season ticket renewals next week, and if so then the above seems to be what they are saying. The fans are losing their jobs or their livelihoods, being put on reduced hours, taking pay cuts, being put on furlough, the companies that employ them are at risk, they're worried about the health and financial future of their families and the club don't seem to be acknowledging any of that. Other clubs are taking steps to reduce costs, to put staff on furlough, to let the fans know the financial situation. What's happening at our club? King has stepped down as Chairman, the forthcoming investment seems to have gone away, there's no news about the suggested share issue, I understand that the club need our cash but there should be some communication, some efforts to show that those at the club are sharing the pain that a large section of the country are going through. They can't even tell us when games will be played and what season they will relate to. We must have cashflow problems. The accounts stated that season ticket money paid by credit card is "released to the Club over the course of the season." By my calculation there may be around £2.6 million still to be received due to the games that haven't been played. When is the Europa league cash coming from UEFA? Presumably the TV companies aren't paying anything over at the moment. It's such a crazy situation that Steven Naismith is the moral shining light in Scottish football at the moment. When are our players stepping up? We need the club to tell us what's happening and to take action to show us that they are doing everything they can to manage the situation.

SPFL Season declaration challenged legally (ongoing discussion)
Bluedell replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
The season can't go on past the end of May, at which point we lose a player, and presumably other clubs will as well, not forgetting that the rules don't allow it. -
I'm not sure that the 88-90 team deserves mention in this, but you could include 91-93. (93-94 was a horrible season and doesn't serve mention either). As I've said the 92-93 team would be up there as one of the greatest (a goal away from reaching the CL final) and the team with Gazza and Laudrup also deserves inclusion in my opinion, so yes, they probably are worthy of inclusion, even though the teams share a number of players.
