While being delighted that as transfer deadline looms, Morelos and Kamara are still here, I must admit to being a tad perturbed that the Keltic have added a couple of big signings while we haven't. While confident that our first team is better than their first choice, I fear that their squad is deeper and stronger. That could yet be telling. Hope I'm wrong.

My Australian cousin - and Rangers fan - has adopted Arsenal as his English team purely on the basis that in the sixties, and for some time afterwards, we would play each other every season - so had a kind of bond. I also remember Arsenal lending us Highbury to play Red Star when we needed a neutral venue. (Think we lost, though - not sure.)

Harvey Elliott - with whom we have been linked - is only 16 but I agree with your other points.

Absolutely I get the point about how critical this season is, but my point was inspired by L'pool and their equally critical season. Why are THEIR youngsters seemingly far more ready and developed than ours right now?

This is a kid who should be getting some game time, if only from the bench.

Exactly! Why don't we see the likes of King, Young-Coombes, Kelly, Mayo, Kennedy, Mepude et al at least on the bench? Liverpool put 5 youngsters with limited experience on the field v Everton in the cup and emerged triumphant. if we are modelling our style of play on them why not their strategy too?

Thought Liverpool were brilliant. One of their youngsters , HARVEY ELLIOTT has been linked with us. A left-sided player who seems to play mostly on the right. Would offer more than Ojo IMO. A more general point: how come L'pool can afford to play 5-6 teenagers in an FA Cup (not Carabao Cup) against a full-strength experienced Everton? Could we do that v Stranraer? If we don't have 4 or 5 youth to come in and do that then you have to question our youth policy. Why have a development squad if they are not being developed?

We seem to be being linked with an England under-20 striker from Stoke City. Fine if signed as Morelos cover but for me it begs the question: what has happened to our striking options viz Mebude, and Zak Rudden though I know the latter is out on loan.
