  1. That would have been the sensible thing to do. They could have given the staff a function suite with some entertainment and put on a really nice free buffet + a couple of free drinks, then had a pay bar for the rest of the evening to cover the entertainment and staff costs.
  2. Thursday, 11 December 2014 10:10 Macleod Out For Two Weeks Written by Alice Hedworth LEWIS Macleod is set to miss a “couple of weeks” according to his manager Ally McCoist. Macleod had a scan yesterday and it revealed his hamstring problem to be less serious than first feared. He has suffered a grade one tear to the leg muscle, which is the lowest severity tear he could have had. The 20-year old midfielder picked up the injury against Alloa in the Petrofac Training Cup. He was stretched off and spent the next day on crutches but now with the swelling down doctors have been able to assess him properly. Away from Macleod Lee Wallace will return to the team for the trip to Palmerston Park. Wallace was due to start against Cowdenbeath at the weekend but had to pull out a hour before kick-off due to a private issue. McCoist said: “We’re looking alright for tomorrow, Lee Wallace will come back in to play. “Lewis however is struggling, he has a grade one hamstring tear and he’ll certainly be out for a couple of weeks. “He got a scan yesterday, it’s a first degree tear which is relatively good but it is not without its complications. “It is not a serious one but it will certainly keep him out for a couple of weeks. “Apart from Lewis the boys are in good fettle and looking forward to a really good, tough game at Queen of the South. “We have a few injuries here and there but apart from those we just about have a full squad to pick from. “Marius Zaliukas has been in training after his knee injury and he will come back in soon - I will get him a game as soon as I can but he won’t be ready for tomorrow” http://www.rangers.co.uk/news/headlines/item/8237-macleod-missing-for-two
  3. Blueflag is a real deal technical wiz mate (which I'm not), so he's a very valuable addition to the team! Good to have you on board blueflag.
  4. I doubt if Ashley and his men care too much about Laxey's interests when they clearly only care about Ashley's interests. Until the news of the cancelled staff Xmas party broke we probably wouldn't have imagined their cost-cutting would go that far either.
  5. Something like that, but some key full-time staff who've been with the Club for years have been made redundant, so a non-exec who gets paid circa £40k pa + expenses for a attending a couple of board meetings and match days a month could easily be deemed an unnecessary expense if Ashley's men are taking a machete to the Club's staffing costs.
  6. An interesting development. It might be as simple as his removal being part of the ongoing cost-cutting. Hopefully Somers is next.
  7. After a brief look (<1hr) through some of his work over the past month, he seems to absolutely hate frauds, fraudsters and the shady NOMADS who help them, so he's got my attention already.
  8. The guy rambles on a bit and repeats himself, but does sound like he knows exactly what he's talking about.
  9. Your guess is as good as anyone's mate. It's virtually impossible to tell the constant stream of lies and spin from the truth anymore.
  10. I saw it coming, but I don't think many of us actually envisaged or ever even imagined that it was going to get to the stage where so many of our regular starters were in the 28 - 36 years of age bracket. Maybe our management team don't know or keep track of what age their players are? Not a joke!
  11. Club statements coming from a dog & pony show in a stable in Normandy?
  12. If it wasn't so sad because our Club is struggling to get anything at all right these days I'd probably laugh about it along with you because it's just so ridiculous. As it is though, today's positive tribunal outcome for us has somehow been turned into the Club looking like an incompetent, shambolic laughing stock again.
  13. What a shambles. How on earth could we get this wrong and have to retract such a simple statement? Was there no proof and it was just a case of the Scottish media printing stuff from 'sources' at Dundee Utd?
  14. It's so difficult to say, but I'd certainly have approached our rise up from the old 3rd division (and before then too!) completely differently to the way Ally has. We should have been giving our best youngsters more opportunities because if we had, then I think we could have built a very good young team that regularly included and featured Macleod plus guys who left for various reasons like Fleck, McCabe, Bendiksen and Telfer. We should have been building a more exciting and more youthful squad and supplementing it with a handful of experienced players to pass on their experience to the younger lads, not building a whole squad of 28 - 36 year old pros and veterans and supplementing it with 2 or 3 younger lads.
  15. Is he really a 'billionaire' or is he a multi-millionaire himself with an even more minted wife due to her inheriting the Shaw family business and fortune?
  16. They're probably only coming out with that patter because they think it's another way of having a pop at Rangers, as in "pfff, you're player isn't even worth that". I doubt it's what they're really thinking though, as I'm sure they value him much higher than £200k and see potential to make some serious cash from him if they give him games.
  17. Don't forget to post your predictions for the Queen of the South game at Palmerston any time between now and the 19:45 kick-off on Friday night. Do it here - Predictions for QotS v Rangers - SPFL Championship match 16 (GPL game 26)
  18. It's not very fair to make judgments on the lad when he's being asked to play wide in order to accommodate others in central midfield. At the same time though, it says a lot about how highly regarded he is that he can get a game in a wider position before certain natural wide players and as a few folk have mentioned previously on the forum, it's actually good experience for him too.
  19. If Telfer's as good as they've been making out, then £170k is a bargain and one which they can easily afford due to their bumper, 'booming' crowds over the past two and a half years.

    Who then?

That's one of the main problems. We need the Club sorted out at ownership and boardroom level as well as back in the top flight and on a semi even keel financially before any of these grand ideas are likely to even be possible.
  21. I've spoken to him a few times in my local just 200 yards from where I stay (the last time being just back in May when I was last in there) and he's an absolutely brilliant guy. I think he tried to pick me up off the ground at closing time.
  22. Yes, Wylde and Celik were the first to leave. They both left approx' 3 weeks after we went into administration.

    Who then?

Regarding scouting, Micheal Mols said the following back in March: http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/ibrox-great-michael-mols-blasts-3303771 Those type of comments do make me wonder if combining a new management team with a good scouting network is really as far fetched as some of us seem to think? What about an all dutch management team like Ronald de Boer, Arthur Numan & Micheal Mols? Could Ronald de Boer be separated from his brother at Ajax?
