At last, today we find out if our players have the bottle.
John Barr replied to John Barr's topic in Rangers Chat
Good point Gers4life. Watching yesterdays game i was taken by the spirit and the desire to win by a few players i hadn't really considered to be like that before. Neil Alexander showed he is a class, class goalie yesterday remaining calm and doing everything right. I was very impressed with his spurring on his team mates too. I now rate him above McGregor. Not just because of yesterday but because of the last few games and the latter part of last season where he impressed then also. I actually feel he hasn't had a bad game for us yet(touch wood) Christian Dailly Yesterday i think he had his best ever game for us. I think he may have been helped though by Strachans decision to play Maloney instead of McGeedy. He really had Maloney in his pocket. He gave the ball away a few times as usual but he got past the Celtic wing back and put in a few crosses and also defended fairly well. I think he has had a word with himself tbh Steven Whittaker You can see this boys confidence growing now he has a run in the team. I always thought he needed exactly that and hopefully he'll continue to play well. He is definetly a confidence player and needs to be winning to get the best out of him. Left back is actually better for him than right back the now. But i just hope he can play as well at RB when Papac comes back in at LB. Pedro Mendes He may have benefited from not having a hatchet man like Brown around as i really think he is a bit scared of Brown. In the last Old firm game Brown chopped him a few times and you could see he was put off from that and he didnt play well. Pedro needs to be given freedom away from players like that to flourish and thats maybe why he did because Hartley got an early yellow and Crosas is a timid fairy. But also for the first time i saw Mendes putting his foot into tackles and tracking back much better than ever before with a Gers jersey on. Steven Smith Another confidence player, i think Walter and Ally had a word with him and maybe asked him to toughen up his game a wee bit. He isnt known as a hard tackler but the tackle he got booked for was a bit of a shocker and i was suprised it came from Smith. What i like about Smith yesterday was he kept his head down and got on with the job. He helped stifle Nakamura too and has done him self a big favour and could get the next 3 games infront of Fleck, Lafferty etc if he continues to graft the way he did yesterday and in previous gamers. Kris Boyd Obviously he let us all down by having a replay of the miss against Borac in the December game against Celtic at Ibrox. But he has definetly pushed himself to improve his overall game. The amount of high balls punted forward he got his head or chest too yesterday, and at least tried to get his team mates into the game with was a Massive change for him. He is trying so so hard to impress Smith and the Gers fans that i am willing to forgive him for that terrible miss against Borac. Obviosly the other players like Davis, Weir, Bougherra and Edu don't need to step up there game as they really are on top of it at the mo. I just hope these players don't rest on their laurels now, as they must be made awre now that we cannot affoard to go into the next 3 games defensively, or too cocky. But, lets rap this title up by starting with another win against Hibs on Wednesday.:rfc: -

John Barr replied to John Barr's topic in Rangers Chat
No, i disagree. My question was can you show us enough bottle that will show we can go on and win the league and they sure did that. Moreso infact i'd say, which is more than what i wanted, but by god do we have some fighters in that side when they really put there minds to it! -
Some Rangers fan came on the Real Radio fitba phone in after the game an d let rip about the guy being sly, sleaket, evil and nasty. Must say i thought it was revolting and he could have ruined Edus career for apparantly no reason atall. Dirty big arsehole, get back to the lower leagues of England. The day you never joined us was the day we won the league.:fish::flipa:

John Barr replied to John Barr's topic in Rangers Chat
You answered my question lads, you really DO have the bottle to win this league. Now go on and get 9 more points and lift the trophy!:rfc: -
This game versus Celtic is one game that we have to win, we all know that. But, all season questions have been asked if our players have what it takes. In my mind tomorrows winner will take the league. So, if our players fail miserably tomorrow, we may aswell get rid of them and start afresh because we will know they aren't up to the job, as that is why they were brought in. But, if we win tomorrow and go 2 clear, i firmly believe it will give them the confidence booster they need to give themselves to show that they CAN win big games and also show them Celtic are beatable and this bunch of players can do it. I can't wait till the final whistle now, because after this game a lot of questions will have been answered about our players. So, Rangers, do you have the bottle to win?:rfc:

Yes, i saw this earlier. Watch the pussy hole that "attacks" Riordan. He gets to within a few inches of Riorden, swings a right hook(which a 5 year old girl would be proud of), and FALLS OVER clutching his right eye. Riorden just looks at him with contempt and probably pisses himself later that night watching it again. Then, the fan is ushered off the pitch holding his right cheek and COMPLAINING to the Hearts fans as if Riorden hit him (which he didn't). What an absolute pussy! It's just farcical. It must have been the wimpiest Hearts fan in the ground that went for him last night.

Perhaps i should have put it the other way. That Liverpool fans, in particular, hate the media. This can be tracked back to the Hillsborough disaster and the headline 'THE TRUTH' about Liverpool fans. As a result of this there has been a reluctance to praise anything to do with the media, but more especially the sun newspaper group. Additionally, the Sun bosses have really hated Liverpool. But, i kind of retract that statement about Liverpool being hated by the media as it is definetly the other way around. Your right though, Giggs was awarded the POTY through sentimentality alone, which again, makes a mockery of these awards.
-
And slightly off topic, but still maybe relevant. Down south the media bias continues which undoubtadly assisted Ryan Giggs getting the POTY when he has started only 11 games. As much as i like Giggs, no way on earth should that title have gone to him. Gerrard should have won it, but Liverpool are a club hated by the media and Man Utd a club adored by the media aswell as s. A. Ferguson. So, overall it tells us that these awards basically are deceitful and biased and therefore meaningless and pointless. What is the point in having the awards before the season ends anyway? Up north if Rangers win the double now and in 10 years time some wee 18 year old guy looks back in the history books, what will he find?... ...In season 2008/09 Rangers won the SPL title and the Scottish Homecoming cup and Celtic won the less desirable League cup. Despite this Celtics manager Gordon Strachan won the Manger of the year for winning trophy that is rated 3rd in line in most peoples minds. This is despite managing 'the richest club in Scotland', with the 'best finances', and supposedly having the 'best squad'. The manager of Scotlands '2nd richest club' manages to upset the favourites for the league title by beating them to a Scottish double. But, in so doing, Walter Smith is not recognised as the best manager that season. Ok, try explaining that someone if that happens! Which just goes to show that it is a baffling decision anyway, but will be completely mind boggling if Rangers do manage to win the double.
-
They really have to change the time the players vote for this because for the past few years it has made the decision look incredibly rediculous. As the man says, what happens now if Smith goes on and wins the double?(which is not beyond the realms of reason at all). Now, if we protest too much we'll be hit with 'strachan deserved it' and 'we are just being biased' etc. Last season i didnt utter a word of complaint to anyone that McGreedy won the POTY award, but now i feel it is a preposterous decision to give Strachan that award. All you get coming from Parkhead is Celtic fans complaining about anything he does, yet they still find it acceptable to give the guy this award. Ludicrous and embaressing for Scottish football. I bet Strachan really thinks he is billy big bollocks now cause he got that. I can jsut imagine the wee termite picking up the award and droning on about pish. He should NEVER have been awarded it. If anything, Laslo deserved it more than him right now. But, they really have to change the timi ng so it coincides with the end of the league which would give everyone a clearer picture of where it should go. Strachan for manger of the year? Next it'll be Aiden McGereedy for World Player of the Year!!!

I just remember feeling like i was going to have a heart attack and my heart rate must have been around 130. Seriously!!! Looking at that now, it brings me so much joy. But i had forgotten about Montolivo's arrogantness and the infamous 'brushing the dirt off the shoulder' act he mimiced after his penalty take. I was raging at him after he done that and when we wone i think the whole of Britain done it back to the telly at him. He desrved to get beaten for that alone, and what is even more funny is that after he done that, the penalties swung back our way. I just wonder if Neil Alexander saw that incident and said to himself "right you bassa, i'm gonna make you suffer for that".
-
What an anti- climax.
-
Evra should never have got in that team. I dont rate him and watch him most weeks.
-
You might remember i wrote a post last week showing the amount of bookings in the Valencia game in La Liga. Well, that was TAME compared to this weeks showing. Not quite sure what is going on in Spanish League football lateley, but i had to double check the stat count for bookings and red cards here. Have a look at the Atletico Bilbao and Racing Santader game......Got to be a record!!!----- http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/spain_results/default.stm

Thats very gracious of you then mate to be honest. You didn't have to come out and say well done. So goodluck to you mate. I 100% agree with you BB about Corluka. I watched him single handedly hand that game to us today. He is so annoying to watch too(well, except that he is so bad he was good for my team BB), he dribbles up the park and trys the killer ball everytime except all he actually succeeds in doing is give it away. What a joke. How Harry persists with him i'll never know. He helped us with a win last night. no doubt about it. The ref was appauling too last night. I could not believe he gave us that pen. As soon as the goalie got a touch i told my mate sitting next to us that it was a good save. Then the whistle goes and the ref is pointing to the spot. I thought he was a pure homer of a ref. He should get the bump no doubt about it. It was a disgusting decision and i felt the ref tried to help us. We don't normally need a twelth man in any other game, so i would never want another decision like that again.

Did you stop counting after our third? Glory Glory Man Utd:) League won now after that result i think. Get in!
-
Anyone have any further info on Mendes' injury? They said during the game it was a swollen knee. But the expression of Mendes holding his head it looked worse. I'm hoping it was just a precaution that they subbed him. Anyone shed any light?

Frank Lampard goes ballistic with call to D.J on radio show
John Barr replied to John Barr's topic in General Football Chat
So, if i call him a fat pleb do you think he'll phone me up? Worth a try anyway. Frank Lampard, your a fat useless pleb and marriage wrecker lol:flipa::flipa: -
i don't

It's an extremely good point SA. But, Walter doesn't seem too keen on playing the youths he brings through, which inturn, would equally be a waste of cash!
-
My thoughts too mate. Getting the Eredivise games on Setyants gives me a better picture of what the standard is like in the Netherlands and i have to say the teams like F.C.Twente, A.Z.Alkmaar and Heerenveen have caught up enormously on the big three there. It makes for a very exciting league with no simple predicted games. But the fall that P.S.V and Ajax in particular have taken is almighty. Feyenoord have had the arse fall out there world for about 5 years now, and have now shown small signs of improving. The signing of that new manager from Utrecht? is a good one for tham, but they have such a long way to go. It's unbeleivable to think they beat uis on the way to a Uefa cup success only 8 years ago!!!
-
It's obviously virtually impossible to tell how any player will perform for a new side. I think therefore, we have to less stuck up thinking that a player of Dormans 'standard' won't be able to do anything for us. (Talking generally there) There have been plenty of players signed for Rangers that we have looked at and could't believe we signed, yet funnily enough almost always it's these players who over perform and win over the fans. I'll always remember Stuart Munro bought from Alloa when all the Terry Butchers and Chris Woods were being brought in. At that point hardly anyone even noticed him, but even now he is a cult hero and gave so many fine performances at left back. More than that, it tends usually to be the big signings like Kyle Lafferty who disapoint or take an age to do something constructive. So, in my mind, i'm willing to give the guy a go. As i have said, my attention has been drawn towards him in games i've watched of him and i have definetly been impressed. But, the proof of Dormans ability will only come out if we do sign him and he is given a fair chance in Midfield. What i don't want to see is us signing him and him rotting away in the reserves. If that were to happen i'd rather he stayed with St.Mirren and continued to impress for tham.
