Would you rather we paid £4m for another unknown, untested, player like Lafferty? I've seen enough of Dorman over two seasons to believe he can do a job for us.
-
Well done Ewan Cameron for telling THE TRUTH and for sticking to what you feel was an injustice. Credit to you mate for saying it as it happened and not the way it was clouded over by all the Celtic fans intent on attempting to discredit Rangers after the way we were treated. I tell you this though, football fans NEVER forget.

Yeah amzing really. Just thinking that Ajax managers for the boot now.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/match_of_the_day/8008145.stm Gazza on M.o.t.D 2 last night talking about the dearth of talent today:(

Oh please, don't mention Sol Bamba and Rangers in the same breathe again. He is an accident waiting to happen and we already have enough players like that. But, Andy Dorman is a player i have tried to bring up on this forum before. Mostly i was mocked, but that may have been more because of the list of small team players i listed with his name. I must say i have been impressed with Dorman since last season and have continued to enjoy his play this season too. However, i do tend to agree slightly with Gav on this that it could be a waste of talent and he may end up on the road out with Alan Gow. In saying that though i still would like him at the club as he is one player that could do a job for us at a cost we are now more suited to. Go get him Walter!

Ha Ha. Indeed. Well, just to finish and be incredibly pedantic then. I see what your getting at with Beckham, and when i envisage his runs in my minds eye i can see him doing as you say. But, his run isn't as arched as Smiths was today, and it was the acuteness of his angle to run and strike it that struck me. Therefore, i had it in my mind to bring it up on this forum later to see if anyone had seen such a peculiar shape to set yourself at. Now you have brought my attention to Beckhams run, i can also remember Johnny Wilkinson doing it for England in the Rugby Union too and more recently, like Beckhams run, Ronaldo has been going more and more acute before he strikes it. I would like to think it was to get an incredible bend on the ball with them all, but with Smith i wonder if its not just that he is Left footed on the Right side taking it. But, i agree wholeheartedly about your Beckham point Craig.

Anyone know what happened at the Valencia game tonight against Seville? Take a look at the result via the BBC Europe results. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/spain_results/default.stm You can see there was an amazing 15 booking between both teams and 1 red card and 2 penalties. I don't think i've ever seen anything quite as bad disciplined as that, and i would love to find out why the ref booked so many players in tonights La Liga game. Anyone know?
-
You misunderstand me. Its not the way he stands or strikes i'm getting at, just the weirdness of standing virtually BEHIND the ball and running nearly UP the way to strike it forward. It's only because he is Left footed and taking them from the right. You get the same effect from a left footer taking a corner on the right. It is just quite unusual to see that happen. i'm not criticising it in anyway, just feel it looks peculiar and awkward.
-
Don't fancy that much. Last game is Utd away. We always trip up there, they are our bogey side the now.
-
He played well today as i had hoped and i continue to hope he pushes on. Did anyone see him taking the free kicks from the right side too? How odd was his run up? He took it almost running back up to the ball to kick it forward from the right side. Very peculiar. But, he is deadly at set pieces and thats why he has been given the role of set piece taker for now.

No, it's not Walter i want to discuss. It's the other Smith that has gone unnoticed at Ibrox for nearly 3 1/2 years. Stevie Smith managed at long, long last to get a game last week and showed just why he has been kept around for so long. He gets the chance after so long and despite being VERY rusty of first team experience, he played as though he'd never been out the first team. I feel if he manages to keep fit for the remaining games, he could be one of the deciding factors that could help us win the league. Tonight on M.o.t.D we saw Glen Johnston of Portsmouth being played as a right midfielder to great effect. Which proves it can work to play a full back in a wide midfield role. We have had a left wing problem for years now. So, it just seems right to slot Smith, who is a left back, into this Left Midfield position at this time. We need someone who isnt going to get caught upfield and will track back when we lose possesion of the ball. Smith can do that as it is in his make up to do this without thinking about it. But, aswell as this he is a speed freak and has scary pace if he chooses to use it. Also, he is solid when he wants to be and positionally sound. What he needs to be a competent Left sided Midfielder is first team experience and an injury-free run. Stevie Smith was brought through the youth team with Alan Hutton. The two of them were very highly thought of. But it was Hutton who for the most part stayed injury free and pushed for the first team slot. Despite having some cracking games in europe and against Celtic in particular, and then being sold to Tottenham for £8M, it was actually Stevie Smith who was thought to be much better rated as a youth than Hutton. Infact, many people still say Smith is technically better than Hutton. So, Smith needs to play Left Midfield for the remainder of this campaign. If he does so without being injured, i feel he will finally mature into the player we all hoped he once was going to be. Playing him at Left back will work just as good, but i feel he has more to show us of his offensive abilities than his defensive capabilities and with this in mind, it could be the ace up the sleeve we need to take to Parkhead on 9th May. An unexpected Left Midfield flying machine would rip to pieces Andreas Hinkel and anything Celtic have on that Right midfield of theirs. So, i will be watching with particular interest Smiths performance on Sunday, hoping he can do us the turn we desperatly need to push on for this league championship.

Pity. No, but what i mean is that the two cup finals north and south of the border are normally played in tandem.(with the exception of a few the past few years)

I'm not up on the politics of Holland Pete. Scheringa must be the Alkmaar chairman i take it? What i like about this Alkmaar side is the fact they hardly have any names that anyone outside the Netharlands would know. They have the mix of Dutch and South American players that works for a change and the spine of Dutch players being capped for their country is great to watch. I agree though, i think they just bottled it tonight, i don't think that'll happen again. They will all go home and reflect on what they did and come back and thrash someone for the 2 points they really need.
-
I've taken quite an interest in A.Z Alkmaars amazing Dutch league exploits this season as they have romped to victory. However, after an amazing unbeaten run stretching around 25 matches, they crashed to defeat at HOME to Vitesse Arnhem 2-1. They only needed really a draw since their goal difference is quite favourable. However, after going ahead in the first half, they let it slip later on in the smae half, only to lose another in the second in front of a stunned home crowd. Aparty atmosphere turned into disbelief as they now have to play Ajax in Amsterdam next week, followed by Twente Enschede away and Herenveen at home. The lead could go down to 8 points on Sunday now meaning that Steve McLarens Twente could clinch it on the last day if results go for him. Alkmaar have three tough fixtures to three teams who have all played well this season in the Eredivisie, and the dream of Louis Van Gaal could crumble in 3 weeks time.

Well said mate. lol

That's just confused me now. So, which one is it? The F.A cup final at Wembley is on the 30th May.

yeah i saw it, i thought he was a bit like his old self. He picked up the phone on the Soccer a.m Table and said "mam, did ye hear that", after Helen Chamberlane came out with a complement, i think anyway! He was gutted he missed the shot at the end, he even stopped the Thank yous at the end to apologise to his boy Cameron for missing it. It was just so evident throughout the whole show that everyone has so much respect for the guy. They even showed his goal for England v Scotland where he chipped the ba' over Colin Hendry's head and volloeyed it past 'the Goalie' on "Showboat". Looking god Gazza. Keep it up son.

No, thats ok mate, i'll just search it the way you suggest. Give me something to do anyway as i while the hours away tonight. Cheers.

That was brill to watch mate. Thanx. Seems like quite a close connection between players and fans. Wish some of our players were as connected as that. That vid should be shown to a certain Ferguson, McGregor, and a few others.
