  1. Agreed. If people are chosing their political views/party based on their football team, then they should have the vote taken off them IMO. All I hear is SNP this, Labour that... Out of interest, I would like to ask these guys who are keen to promote ONE political view...who the feek am I meant to vote for? If it's SNP I'm a republican scumbag....if it's Labour I'm catholic cabal member. Am I then left with the choice of the Tories or the BNP?
  2. Wait a minute. Do we now seperate the national team from the SFA?
  3. You are joking with regards the "tight" pitch theory? Stirling Albions pitch is a yard shorter in width than Ibrox. This is up there with the "huge" pitch at the Camp Nou myth, which is basically the same size as most top flight pitches
  4. As much as football is a results driven game (we cant even do that...) the biggest worry for me is our general performance and distinct lack of vision. At least if we were failing but we could see progress and a distinct blueprint of what we are trying to do, I think fans would give Ally more time. IMO we just seem to play until "something happens" instead of being pro-active. Jesus...even our recent win V Well was born from Ally being forced to change our failing formation due to an injury
  5. As much as I don't mind Liverpools Warrior home strip, their away strips are honking as is the extended training and leisure range (check it out online). The stink of a company dipping their toe in the football market and they even have that tool Vinnie Jones as the face of some of their ad campaigns I would prefer someone else to make our kits but money talks I suppose
  6. I don't agree sorry. If football is part of everyday life, I for one can seperate politics from my team. And of course Ulster bears will always be welcome but please leave the politics on the ferry please
  7. Sorry but we're going round the houses here. I've no great problem with the OO (apart from the occasional bit of traffic disruprtion) but this thread is here becuase some fans are uneasy about the our club being connected with such an organisation with the possiblitity of an orange strip (that's what it would be). For the record I don't care what other fans think. That's not what this is about.
  8. Great draw. Missed the Motherwell game but will definately be going to this
  9. Sorry GA, I dont get this. Surely what calscot was saying is that he is not against the OO et all but he is a against our club directly being associated with it (or any other religious/political group for that matter) To me that's two totally different things
  10. Would love to see the return of the old enclosures
  11. What. So I'm not allowed to offer an opinion on it? And for the record, I can't recall wishing they would stay across the water? I think it was more to do with being dissapointed with any fans using Rangers to promote their political/religious beliefs. That's how I see this
  12. I know dude. I was just pulling your leg
  13. I didn't just pluck it out of thin air mate. It was mentioned in relation to our clubs wider reputation and the context of the orange strip etc.
  14. Mischief making? Well tbh there's been plenty who have agreed with me on this thread
  15. I don't get what you mean? Oh because I'm honest enough to say how I feel? I thought this was Gers Net not Rangers (State) Media
  16. Why bring the wars into it? Many people made sacrifices in these wars from all faiths and denominations so I won't blindly agree with something based on that emotive point. Where it comes from genuinely means nowt to me TBH. I spend little time thinking about NI, Ireland and religion at all.
  17. I'm not asking YOU to forget that but do the club have to endorse it? Historically, Spurs derive many of their fans from the Jewish communities in North London but do they openly endorse this by bring out strips in the star of david colours? Do they have a photo or their local rabbi in the changing room? Doubt it. With regards to Manchester, it was more than 10 guys mate. Anyway whether it was 1, 100, 1000 it did major damage to our clubs reputation
  18. Where you're from is not really point? The poster asked why I associate an orange strip with a religious organisation? I merely asked why certain fans (using the NI fans as an example) are asking for an orange strip and not a yellow, pink or aubergine strip..oh wait, we've had that. I'll ask you the same question. Why would you want a orange strip above our traditional colours?
  19. Ok then why did the fans in NI asked specifically for an orange strip? Why not pink? Why not yellow? Why not green? The colour of their countries strip?
  20. First of all, all the things you have mnentioned in your first paragraph are non football related. The Queen? Quintisentially British club? Protestantism? They are external elements that I and many others don't really care for. You ask what we stand for? We are a football team after all. Not a politcal party. Why do we have to stand for anything beyond fairness, dedication, skill, hard work, humility and the quest for footballing greatness? Can we not promote Rangers the football club? The team that was born from 4 young men that had a dream. Can we not promote our acheivements? Our triumphs? Our great players and managers? Our position as Scotland's most successful club? With regards to Manchester, I think it would be naive to play down the effect that night had on our club. Granted the majority of the people had a great time but like or lump it, the actions of that small group of low-lifes was shown around the world under the banner of Rangers. As for Celtic, I could not care less what they did in Seville or anywhere else. I don't care if 80,000 of their fans committed mass genocide, it doesn't change what happened in Manchester The OO are easily ignored? They would be if they didn't feel the need to march through feekin town and the like and cause great disruption. By all means have your knees up in your designated halls etc. I couldn't care less but don't ask the city (and us basically) to pay for policing it. And that goes for any of these "marches"
  21. A bit extreme Govan. It's not a case of "please love us" (as you say the Mhanks do) but more a case of spreading a positive image of our club. IMO we could isolate ourselves by reinforcing connections with the OO with an orange strip. I'm sure we could debate until the cows come home about the OO but I feel a lot of people see it as a strange and outdated organisation (including me tbh) I'm not saying we should bend over to be everybodies best friend but what harm would it do to simply promote the best things about our club instead of hitching our wagon to a rather outdated star ? Let's be honest here, after the horrors of Manchester IMO we have pretty tarnished repuation to rebuild.
  22. I think that statement sums up my thoughts on the whole subject TBH
