  1. As much as I'm happier that we are hopefully getting a tie-in with a bigger brand brand like Adidas I genuinley like our current home strip. I'm not really a fan of Umbro TBH but our current strip is very nice. Hope we go for the simplier Adidas look like Chelsea, Bayern and Swansea
  2. Not me mate. Just cannot be arsed with any of this OO stuff bing attached to Rangers.
  3. Of course it is and it always will be but times are changing and I believe it would be very naive to disregard any potential new fans from other avenues.
  4. That photo proves absolutlely nothing. About half the crowd are wearing orange and I have no doubt a lot of them were genuinely making a tribute to our Dutch players at the time. So what? We don't have any Dutch connection at the mo so why an orange strip and to get back to the OP why were the lads in NI specifically asking for it?
  5. Not necassarily saying we are going to struggle but surely it would be naive for any club to ignore the possiblity of gaining new fans outwith the traditional avenues?
  6. The difference for me Pete is that red socks baloney was just another east end paranoid fairytale. Most Rangers fans know the story of our socks and no Rangers fan would be offended by them and in turn would laugh at the myths peddled by them. The orange strip is totally different. I reckon plenty of Rangers fans would pretty offended by this move .
  7. I'm not kicking it mate but any club needs new fans and we can't always rely on fans from a purely historical "pool". Do you not want to encourage new fans to want to come and see Rangers? I just feel that any association with Orangism is somewhat negative and will isolate many fans and discourage any new fans looking to get into Rangers. We have enough in our locker to promote and use as a positive foundation for our club going forward. I just wish we would use that instead of the possibility of making money on the back of this orange strip
  8. Where did I state a removal of everything non football? And I'm fully aware of Rangers working class demographic but I find any assocation with the OO just depressing. I'm sure I'm not the only one
  9. Fair doos but for me this is best place to chat about our club with balance and different POV. At least we can chat about it on here. Other sites are no no TBH I totally agree with you regarding an orange strip being a PR disaster
  10. Sorry but what have the East End lot got to do with this? This isn't about keeping them or anyone else happy. There are plenty of Rangers who wouldn't want an Orange stripe and I'm sure their reasoning is not based on being PC. Maybe they take offence at their club being associated with the OO just to flog strips? As no matter how many times people dress this up, that's why we are doing this? And for the record, I'm not a yahoo. I just want to our club to move on various fronts and IMO this is taking us back. Way back
  11. How is the context made up by the eternally offended? There will be plenty of Gers fans who will be dissapointed at the thought of orange strip. FFS if we bring out at orange strip to pander to a section of our fans and in turn isolate others maybe we deserve some mud slung at us. As far the second part... can you provide a link on how to be a suuporter of Rangers? I will always be a Rangers fan but I don't do that in a blind vacuum mate.
  12. Not the colour. The context of the colour. 2 completely different things
  13. I think it is a big deal Zappa. IMO we have a chance to move on from what I regard as unwanted baggage that has been attached to our club. Bringing out an orange strip is utterly depressing and is taking us back, not forward
  14. Profess? You are questioning other fans support for the team? Who are you to do that? Are you some sort of uber-fan? Of course not. All I was getting at is that if you are a Gers fan, surely the team, the players, our plans for the future etc. etc. are slightly more important than the need for an orange strip and the Welsh flag above Ibrox. I just don't get that So you can't support Rangers if you're from Northern Ierland? What relevance is where you were born as to whether you can support Rangers? Are you so arrogant that you feel you can dictate how people support our club? Where did I say that? What I did say is that if you want to use Rangers to advance your own political/religious ideals, please don't. As this was a Q and A based in NI, I used Linfield or any other NI club as an example if you want to do this So are Rangers your football team or not? It seems that it doesn't take much for you to throw your toys out of the pram if the colour of a strip is making you threaten to stop going (I assume that's what you mean). We have had a couple of orange strips before. Why didn't you stop then? Yes. To me Rangers are a football team not an extension of anything else. And for the record I was pretty peeved when we had that Orange strip under the guise of "Dutch" tribute. I still went to games but if we make the same mistake again for the sake of a quick buck, I won't be back
  15. Fair doos. I love the Holland strip and it looks great but that's their strip. Orange has nowt to do with Rangers and there is too much baggage attached to it for me.
  16. Is it that important in that grand scheme of things? Yes... we've been demoted to Division 3 but let's start a campaign to have to Welsh flag flying over Ibrox.... On the colour front...I'm not offended by A colour. I'm offended by the context in which this particular colour would be chosen. 2 different things mate
  17. Just saw the details from Charles Green's trip to NI and there are a few questions that I find slightly concerning. For example... Q3: Would Rangers consider bringing out an Orange Top ? C.G: "Yes, they have a number of designs and are coming near agreement with Adidas" As much as I understand Rangers derive many fans from NI and most of them are from a Protestant persuasion, I feel that an orange strip would be a direct reference to the Orange Order. I also feel it panders to a certain section of our fans and in turn alienates others and I would find that very dissapointing. What has orange got to do with Rangers FOOTBALL club? Why not stick to our footballing roots and have a white strip with blue star or a black and red strip? I know Charles Green is here to make cash from Rangers but I for one would be very dissapointed if he went down this road Q5: Would Rangers Consider flying the 4 Home Nations Flags alongside the Flags already above Ibrox ? C.G "I dont see why Not as the contribution and dedication of Rangers Fans throughout the U.K and the world is second to none and should be recognised" Once again, as much as I realise that we draw fans from all over the UK and indeed the world, we are ultimately a Scottish club. We have won Scottish titles and cups. We have respresented Scotland in European competitions. We have always been based in Glasgow, Scotlands biggest city. WTF does the flags of NI, England and Wales have to do with Rangers? Maybe what I'm getting at is that these guys who profess to love Rangers had a chance to ask CG questions and they choose to ask stuff about Orange strips and getting the flags of the Union flying over Glasgow. FFS is that really important? Ok tin hat time...I am sorry but Rangers are MY FOOTBALL team. I was brought up in Govan and they will always be my team forever but I genuinely wish these guys would stick to supporting Linfield or a team in NI if they want to use their football as a vehicle for their religious/political beliefs. Or if you want to support Rangers, please just do that. I have to say that I will seriosuly consider going back to Ibrox if they bring out another orange strip.
  18. I genuinely do not understand why Rangers don't just ban the BBC and any of it's employees from Ibrox. They need us more than we need them... ....correction... .....we don't need them at all. What benefit do we get from the amatuerish, cliched and biased opinions of guys like Rob McLean, Richard Gordon, Jim Spence, Liam McLeod and co.? Just feekin ban them and use other media outlets as after all there is zero coverage about Rangers on the BBC website these days anyway. Just starve them of what they need to get listeners/viewers to their shows (Rangers) and let them fight over the scraps of what is left of Scottish Football. They won't last long IMO
  19. Why don't we just ban BBC Scotland and all it's employees from Ibrox? Do we actually need them?
  20. Total rip off of the Mad Men titles. BBC Scotland as original as ever I see.....
  21. BTW Cheers for the heads up on the no commnetary tip mate. Appreciate it
  22. Let's dispell the Murray Park myth. Over the last few decades Murray park has been the springboard for many players that have gone on to have decent careers in England as well as turning out for their country. Alan Macgregor, Alan Hutton, Ross McCormack, Charlie Adam, Danny Wilson, Kyle Hutton, Jamie Ness, Rhys McCabe to name but a few
  23. That's what I took from it. The wee non entity should be made to apologise IMO. Disgraceful comment
  24. I actually thought wee Nevin was quite complimentary about the team and the fans etc. Maybe I heard wrongly?? Anyway McLeod was a disgrace. He should be made to explain his "rightly or wrongly" comment IMO. WTF was he implying by this?
  25. I couldn’t make the game last night (Daddy duties...) so I had to watch the game on BBC Scotland. I’ve never really been the uber paranoid type but IMO last night’s commentary by Liam McLeod was quite bias. I have to be honest I am not that aware of Mr McLeod or his commentating talents (apart from the odd highlight snippet on the BBC website) but some of his comments last night were odd. Throughout the game there seemed to be an overriding sense of him almost willing Motherwell to score in his tone and his delivery. His obvious lack of neutrality must have got him slightly confused as one minute he was reminding us that we were a 3rd division team and then after we scored he couldn’t help remind everyone that we pay more wages than Motherwell. Make up your mind Liam... He also added the curious line into “rightly or wrongly Rangers pay more wages” into that particular passage. Rightly or wrongly? I’m confused? What is wrong with paying players decent wages that have been generated by 35,000 season ticket sales? Just because Motherwell have poor ticket sales means we have to pay similiar wages? Would he use the same phrasing when Celtic play as their wage bill is astronomical? Doubt it I also had to laugh when he mentioned the attendance. Instead of highlighting the size of the crowd (for a 3rd tier midweek televised cup game with an early kick-off ) and praising the Gers fans he falls over himself to mention the 900 Motherwell fan that turned up as if it was some amazing show of loyalty!? That really made me mad for 2 reasons. The first being that the Motherwell fans only turned up to see their side maybe beat Rangers at Ibrox for the first time in donks. Secondly, Rangers crowd was more than all the previous nights games combined but hey that was overlooked. I know there are Gers fans out there that are queuing up just to be “offended” by anything but I’m not one of them. I think of myself as a level headed, open minded and objective kind of guy but McLeod’s commentary was an eye opener to say the least.
