Before even considering signing any of these CB’s I’d hope our esteemed DoF would research their ‘attendance records’ as SAF would have said. Maybe there’s a reason or reasons why they don’t have clubs
-
I’m of the opposite opinion. I think Ross Wilson is simply not cutting it here. I’ve always been someone with a cynical view of a DoF. Do they have too much say when signing players? Do they sign players without the managers consent ? Do they research players backgrounds enough? Some of signings this year have been horrendous. With one injury prone CB (Helander) on our books we go and sign another-Souttar. Didn’t take long before the inevitable happened did it? Whose decision was it to sign Souttar ?? Not only did we sign Souttar but we let a perfectly good CB( Katic) leave for a modest fee to FC Zurich where I’m led to believe he’s doing well. Now Goldson’s out for months we’re really struggling at CB. (I won’t mention the Ramsey signing or diallo loan. Least said the better) Then there’s the Ridvan signing. He may well go on & become a great signing but for us to pay out the high transfer fee(by our standards) & have him benched makes no sense to me and is not good business. But for me there are two main issues regards our DoF:- 1) why do we continue to sign so many players with a bad injury history ? Helander,Roofe & now Souttar to name 3. 2) why have we got a situation where we have so many key players out of contract at the end of the season? To me that’s bad planning. Kent,Morelos, Jack, Arfield, Helander,McGregor all out of contract. Presumably they’ll all need replaced but will there be resources to do so? Not saying it’s all Wilson fault but questions now need asked about his role & its influence in my view

Did he actually achieve anything worthy of note during his time here ? another unnecessary salary saved maybe
-
Couldn’t agree more. since returning to the premiership in 2016 we’ve won one title & one SC. That’s simply not good enough. Domestic success is what we need now. If our domestic form starts to deteriorate then yes the manager’s future maybe called into question. But not at the moment

Perhaps King’s time has come. We are now thin on the ground for CB’s. Whose bright idea was it sign injury-prone Souttar?

What there is no guarantee our academy (or any club’s academy) will produce young players of the calibre we want -

Yes but don’t put Kent on the other side -

Nothing against young Leon King but he simply isn’t ready yet. He needs to go out on loan first -

If Goldson is going to be out for a few weeks maybe some of his critics in our support will realise how important he is to us. -

Yet there were those who criticised the manager for parking the bus last week at anfield. -

Very few. But those who wanted to ‘have a go’ tonight need to realise you can’t do that at this level. 15 years ago Walter Smith was accused of ‘anti-football’ against Barcelona, people need to realise he did that for a reason -

Those in our support who slaughter Goldson really need to question themselves. I’m now dreading going into games without him. Young King simply isn’t ready for what lies ahead -

He’s completely out of his depth at this level -
Very pleased today. It was an interesting starting XI with both Kent & Morelos on the bench. I thought Sakala took his chance but Matondo didn’t. Ryan Jack looking like his old self & Barasic very impressive again. Davies looks a good CB & well worth the money we paid. And whatever we paid for Colak is beginning to look like steal of the century. Onto Wednesday night now. I’d prefer a 4-4-2 with Colak & Sakala up front

Sorry to hear his reasons for resigning but he was too ‘low profile’ for me. We need someone who openly confronts the Rangers-hating pond life in the Scottish mhedia

Absolutely. It was horrendous to watch

Robby McCrorie signs new 3 year deal

Whatever route we go down we will need to sign at least one goalkeeper in January or next summer -
Looking back though, didn’t we have little choice ? I was dead against us going to the bottom league because I didn’t think it was affordable. I’m still of that opinion. It caused us a lot of financial damage & prevented us building a team to compete in the top division when we returned

Very surprised at this. He’s clearly third choice just now & and unlikely to be first choice any time soon. -
Always disappointed when Rangers get beaten but a reality check is needed for us in the CL compared to the EL. We’re now facing teams with squads costing hundreds of millions. Competing with these clubs whilst we’re in the impoverished SPFL is a tall order
-
I’d take Lundstrum off. He’s on a yellow and will get a red card second half. He’s chasing shadows at the moment
-
It’s vital Tillman and Kent get forward to support Morelos. Otherwise we’ll struggle to keep possession. Just wonder why we didn’t go with this formation with 3 CB’s against Ajax and Napoli.

Celtic Boys Club manager 'stuffed banknotes in boy's mouth'
RANGERRAB replied to ian1964's topic in General Football Chat
Liewell was CFO at Celtic for one year in early 90’s. He returned in 2003 as chief executive taking over from Ian MacLeod. So yes he was employed by Celtc during their BC years whilst it was all going on. -

I’m not sure you’re correct about Liewell. Did he not join them in around 1991 but left soon after then rejoined around 2003?
