  1. In the words of former trainer, Jimmy Smith, “look at him, staunin’’, just staunin’”. These words were applied to a defender whose performance levels neither of the two current culprits are likely to attain.
  2. Wolves up to fifth in the table, Sheffield Utd and Burnley in sixth and seventh places. Arsenal, United and ‘Spurs are eighth , ninth and tenth. Have we warped back in time?
  3. I count seven results for you , compo and the Villa game still to come. I must study your methods.
  4. I missed the first thirty minutes. Fourteen of the remaining fifteen up to Kent’s goal were great then a gap in the centre of the defence gave Accies a chance which they managed to miss. They had at least two similar in the second half while Rangers got gradually worse. You could argue that Hamilton deserved at least a draw. You know things have gone wrong when the opposition’keeper stops playing for time.
  5. My already poor form is dipping. Much like Silva and Pellegrini. They can’t be long for the world of the EPL.
  6. No. If they can’t afford real pitches, they’re not top flight clubs.
  7. Pete’s useful list #9 omits Don Kitchenbrand (SA) a cult figure before cult figures were invented. He can’t get into the team ahead of Hubbard, though. In fact no outside left/wide left heretofore mentioned should get in ahead of Hubbard.
  8. McCoist would score a million off rebounds, palm-outs and blocks from Alfie’s shots. Alfie would score a good few of his own making and umpteen from Hubbard’s crosses. But I think I’d bench super, move Laudrup up just behind Morelos and bring in Baxter.
  9. With Gribz off looking over the edge of the flat world, it’s just us auld yins, compo. Hammers 2-2 Hotspurs Gunners 3-1 So’ton Bournemouth 2-2 Wolves Brighton 1-3 Leicester Palace 0-3 Liverpool Everton 2-1 Norwich Watford 1-1 Burnley City 3-1 Chelsea (MOTD) Blades 1-2 United (Match of the Weekend) Villa 3-1 Mags (MOTD seventy years ago)
  10. Drop Kanchelskis and pick Johnny Hubbard, SA.
  11. Life isn’t sine die though. There is a definite termination albeit the exact date of the termination is unknown.
  12. ICT are nor great but the last time I saw them on the telly they had a lot of big thugs. And the dominant component of the bizarre amalgamation was the jammiest team of all time. So this could be the gallant end for the lads.
  13. Bearger was right. (Did I really say that?) BBC confirms that ‘Spurs have settled for second best with Mourinho. lennon obviously waiting for United to tempt him to Manchester.
  14. Four English giants in chase to lure lenny from paradise.
  15. I’ve got a streak of that in me myself, tbh.
  16. One from Dundee is quite enough. Best Scottish team apart from Rangers I ever saw came from Dundee and they didn’t play at Tannadice.
  17. I quite liked the Hibs when they had Smith, Johnstone, Reilly, Turnbull and auld widden legs Ormond.
  18. The impartiality is shocking by its absence. Partiality on the other hand is rife.
  19. What if he wanted a move to celtic?
  20. Couple of matches to get the dross out of the way for a Colts v City final.
  21. Gordon flaming Bennett.
  22. Murray’s tax advisers must have been concentrating on liability rather than the amount of the tax bill. Unusual. Accountants usually concentrate on getting an assessment reduced to nil and then claim rebates on previous. I wonder how this came to light. Somebody, staunch, at HMRC poring over old files? BDO perhaps?y
  23. Not many pacy centre halves, though, are there? Speed of tackle and good radar will compensate for no sprint capability. A swift full back to cover is always useful.
  24. Why does anyone want to waste time at a football match yapping about politics? As far as I know only one club in the UK does it .
