  1. Confirmed http://www.burnleyfootballclub.com/news/article/sporting-director-mcparland-leaves-burnley-2744604.aspx
  2. Personally, there's 3 or 4 I'd happily bring back. Naismith is a top player, I'd certainly not say no, but given his performances for Everton it's unlikely he'd head up north of the border any time soon, and by the time he thinks about it, we should say no. Aluko (and possibly Davis) were talented players that would fit into the current set up nicely I think, should the opportunity present I'd not be sad to see them back. McLeod. Yes! Weiss would also be a possibility but I suspect he was looked at by W+W and they decided against him so I'll defer to their better judgement!
  3. Zappa, I think (hope!) it's a tongue in cheek "Dave King promised this and hasn't delivered exactly what he said he would". If I'm wrong, I despair!
  4. Now there's an idea. How about a bidding style auction to raise club funds. Top bidder pays to represent Green?
  5. I seem to remember being critical of Klos' kicking a few years back. Heart was in my mouth every time he punted it upfield!
  6. Rousseau, comparing Barry to Pirlo? Not sure he was quite that good!
  7. What about the argument of rewarding Law for a good performance. Those on the periphery need to see that there's a way into the first team. It need not be a criticism of Zelalem to rest him for a game and give Law a run out. The onus is then on him to come off the bench when given the opportunity and win his place back. Rested because someone else is playing well rather than he's playing badly?
  8. Craig, I can see the argument there. However Law did have a better game (for me) than Zelalem on this instance. It's not a case of Zelalem performing poorly so deserving to be dropped, more of Law playing himself into contention. We've got a small squad, and many of us (myself included) agree with the reasonings behind this, but that doesn't mean we can't have an element of rotation, arguably it makes such rotation more important. All players will spend time on the bench at some point this season I'm sure, everyone needs to have chance to get some game time.
  9. Interesting point, Barry would have been very effective in such a role I think.
  10. Woah, strategy discussion? Not seen much of that in the past few years. Cracking read and very very interesting stuff!
  11. It's certainly one hell of debate. Best player in Scotland, so many to choose from. Gazza, de Boer, Larsson great shouts. Goram, Klos, (dare I say it...) Ally. Older fans would likely include Baxter and Greig etc. But whatever list you compile, Laudrup has to be up there, and close to the top. Even the most militant Celtic fan would have to include him (secretly at least!) in much the same way that any sane Bear would include Larsson. There are players who cross cross the divide and remind us what a great player looks like. Laudrup certainty was one of those!
  12. As much as I enjoy watching the current team, and they are playing some very nice football, what wouldn't I give to see a talent like this in the Blue shirt again? I remember going to Hampden to watch an Old Firm legends game several years ago now. Ended in a draw but the skill and talent Brian still had was unbelievable! Some fantastic memories!
  13. Not wanting to add fuel to the fire of the rights\wrongs of all this one, I think one of the saddest things to come out of all the problems of the last decade is that a figure such as Ally, who was revered above almost all others before the difficulties started, is now considered as person-non-grata by large elements of the support. I'm not talking about the rights and wrongs of the situation, many have very strong views that are unlikely to ever be swayed. For some, Ally could turn around tomorrow and buy the Easdale shares, buy out the Mike Ashley contracts and return them to the club, pass his shares to Rangers first and repay every penny he ever earned and still be demonised. Likewise there are others for whom he could walk into Ibrox tomorrow, take the keys, lock the door and hand the whole thing over to Mike Ashley, Craig White or Charles Green and they'd be sure he "had his reasons and did it for the good of the club". Those views will likely never change for many. It's just a sad state of affairs when someone of such a legendary status manages to fall so far and for me, this is the saddest thing about everything thats happened. All the other problems can be rectified with time and it becomes nothing more than a short blip in our great history. Ally's reputation (for many) can never be repaired. After all the great memories he's given us, I find that difficult to fully accept.
  14. Ironic that he signs a contract with BT sport just as Sky snap up a load of further rights to Scottish football?
  15. I think squadwise we're pretty good as things stand. Yes add a player or two if the right quality and attitude can be bought at the right price, but nothing silly needed. Things will change in a couple of years (hopefully next year - nothing wrong with a little optimism!) when extra games are brought into the mix with regards to European competition, but there's time yet to prepare for all that. End of season should see some changes as older faces (Miller, Law, etc) move on and new blood brought in to fill their spots, there's possibly an argument to bring them in in January if we can find them, once we've got the league wrapped up (hopefully nice and early the way things are going) we can start moving aside those not likely to be with us next season and almost treat the end of the season (except cup games!) as an extended pre-season?
  16. We do have youths as well, Gasparotto and Sinnamon in particularly. I know they're out on load currently, does anybody know if we have a recall option on them?
  17. Fair point, but that would presuppose that the board were aware of any plans he may have, there's no reason to imagine he's necessarily shared them if he has them
  18. I suspect the reason is to do with not wanting to see hero's fall. You like to think that some figures are above that and genuinely care about the club. Given his history and actions pre-crisis, Ally would have been towards the top of everyone's list in this regard, the fans always thought of him as one of their own and don't like to be disillusioned from that ideal.
  19. Obviously a lot of concern that Ally's still drawing a wage, and understandable. For me he'll always be a legend and should always be welcome back at Ibrox, just perhaps not in any sort of employed role... (Possibly some role as a club ambassador, but better if it's unpaid). Here's a thought though. How would people react if he were to use the money's earned on gardening leave to buy out the Easdale block and rid us of them, would that be enough to repair some of the damage? Not that I've heard anything (don't have the connections that some around here do!), just thought it might be an interesting turn of events were it to happen!
  20. That might be the answer. A co-ordinated action from Rangers fans, in the same way as is done against us. Anything to draw attention to the issues elsewhere. Yes we need to get our house in order and have made large strides towards doing so, but we can't allow the double standards to go unchallenged. Doesn't even need all of us to tune in, a summary of key issues from those who do will allow the complaints to be taken up by others!
