Been hoping to see this formation if it's the diamond with herrera CF and Morelos free role. Only wish pena was in before kranjcar. Weirdly feeling more confident now. -

Can't believe that leaked line up at 11 am this morning was correct! That's a terrible leak and someone who doesn't have the club's best interest at heart -

starting 11 rumoured to be Foderingham, Tavernier, Wilson, Alves, John, McCrorie, Jack, Holt, Kranjcar, Herrera & Morelos. -
If the scout can't follow the analytics how can he compare the player against the wants? We have two totally contrasting styles in play. I do agree brown was decent at what he does, but we aren't using that style anymore or well we are saying we don't. You dont take an old school scout and then put in charge a guy whos previous job was to put numerical numbers against game play . He didn't do player analysis or has any education or experience in player analytics. So you think the man in charge of scouting should have zero experience in scouting? So the head of scouting department knows less about scouting and has less of a reputation than those below him and you think that's a good idea? Not sure how to reply to the fact you want a manager you don't rate, on the shortlist of potential targets. Not be better to have the shortlist full of managers who are actually of the desired calibre? Murty must have been on the list he got the job and Allan is quoted toy as saying they missed first choice but got the next in murty. Unless you think they completely ignored his list, but today it sounds like the opposite and Murty was on the shortlist put forward. Tbh I don't think you know anything about analytics or the complexity of the math behind it. It's not a case of putting a b and c together, the nuances are pivotal in correct determination and they come from the human part of identification process. It's extremely difficult and is an art. The man in charge has no history of doing it and he has scouts with zero history of working this way. Your using the term analysis very loosely, he has zero history of this type of analytics as he pretty much admits on RTV himself. His roles previously was determining how important crosses from deep for example had been. Far easier when the data is factual and given. When it's flipped and your trying to create the data set, its way more of an art which you need to have history or skill at picking players to do. It can't be taught in my opinion . Have you seen his interview or had the oppertunity to met him at any of the functions etc? When you do come back and tell me what level of math he attained and I will happily give twenty quid to a charity of your choice if it's above level 8. It's a complete sham, all the players will come the same way they always have, through contacts or Allans old clubs.
-
Sorry but John Brown can't use analytics or math based appraisals. Scolding has never scouted or shows any evidence of Scolding ability or mindset. The scouting department is a sham. It's just a shell so they can point to infrastructure and go "look what we made" If Derek Mccinnes and Murty were on the managers shortlist then that's all the evidence I need to say Allan needs to go along wih king and Stewart Robertson. Not fit for purpose.

Yeah that's it. Reality and criticism aren't matching The club has not done enough to lower fan expectations and demands. Obviously the fans groups must look inward also and talk to the support in realistic terms. More transparency and the use of clear precise goals and bench marks would make a huge difference and in my opinion drastically improve the players performances. Working as one we are unstoppable, infighting and pulling in opposite directions and we are cannon fodder. Honesty is really the best philosophy going forward. -

In a black and white world yeah. But you also have to recognise that the demands at our club from the fans mostly creates regression in ability. The top tier players thrive under that pressure, the tier we are buying at fold. -
they should be a thorn in the boards side that inflicts pain with every wrong turn.

the biggest reason is we now employ £200k a year players instead of the multi millionaires we used to employ, but are still expecting the same results and level of consistancy -
how about employing a guy to run the scouting team who isn't a scout nor ever scouted players? he now identifies players for our under 8's all the way to fist team! guy has for last five years done analysis on wanted attributes. Never picked a player in his life. the scouting network is a shame, i dont believe it actually exists and works as a real scouting department would. Its just a guy sitting with excel using analytics to identify potential wanted attributes who then passes that to brown who phones round and sees if any agents have players available who they reckon fit, brown then watches them once or twice . That's it. just the same players the agents would have put forward in the first place, and also the same agents we have always used.

8 loses in 27 and several of them were down to outside influences. murty 6 in 16. lets not kid on it was the performances that got him the sack, it was the players and our clubs/fans inability to modernise. Its not all the foreign managers who have failed, its us. We are the fault.
-
all the subs stood around doing hee haw we have nobody to train them at halftime thats another problem. Hardies walking around scratching his baws while the rest carry on or stand having a wee chat! it looks to me as if every foreign player is unhappy. Morelos though seems really unhappy through his body language, same with Candiese who hasn't kicked a ball really, since Pedro left. looks to me like they have all been marginalized and derided by the Scottish players and all want out of here as fast as possible.

Ongoing new manager discussion and speculation
trublusince1982 replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Gary Monk just been sacked. Just saying. -
If murty is the best manager we can attract then how are we attracting players better than Alves, cordoso, Pena and herrera? The only reason we got players of their level is the manager we just sacked. Please don't say the likes of moult etc would do better it's been a bad enough day??Weve spent the last 6/7 years proving these type of players are not. Obviously the calibre across the board has dropped from what we all expect but the foreign players are as good as we can hope for. A squad of other Scottish teams frees with a sprinkling of youth players to back then up with the old heads of miller etc will get us fourth. Time to wake up and change our ways. Pena gets a far harder judging than windass or john or even Dorans, partly because of the price we paid but also partly because he's different than what we usually see. Who's the top scoring midfielder and who has the most assists per game? Is it still pena or has someone over taken?
-
As said on other thread completely disagree and it's thinking like that that sees us getting beat by Kilmarnock easily. Could have been 3/4-1 if not for foderingham Bates is not better than cordoso. Pena should have played at point of diamond before John on left. And herrera should be through the middle with morelos playing off him and out to the right
-
Sorry should say cordoso Won't let me edit

So Alves isn't a leader then. -
Some would say he is purposefully putting out a weak team, he just doesn't realise it cause he agreed with the nonsense miller and wallace pushed alomg with king. Big bad foreigner tried to tell them all to change! How dare he! They will show him bates etc are better than cardoso! Now he's lost 6 in 16 but pedros 8 in 27 gets the sack! All this crap coming from the top about only ex players and Scottish people knowing what it takes. Embarrassing if not disgusting, xenophobic ramblings about only our own knowing the way. Pena should have played today so should cardoso and Alves. Herrera should start through middle with morelos given the free to play off him. 4-1-2-1-2 Instead we worry about Kilmarnock playing wingers and teaching foreigners what it takes to get embarrassed again ???
-
Yeah we can keep watching miller windass and John, maybe get lucky and we can watch hardie. As a wee bonus can keep watching bates instead of Alves. Wonder how these under u20s did so badly in the youth league when they can provide a backbone that will get second in premier no problem??
-
Nobody said it did. Comments were pre game and only saying it's surprising to see a new manager happy to play a reserve player at CB in his first game. They were right he should have worried about the game in front of him not ahead.
-
think Foderingham does deserve a mention today, he saved us from a heavy defeat. Two fantastic saves.
-
Its the only formation the team have looked comfortable in all year. should not be altered until it starts to fail
-
because king said it will happen is no indication it actually will. Next agm will no doubt say "due to unforeseen upturn in revenue the need for loans was diminished" He still says he has put in over £6m when thats not 100% true and includes his purchase price, he has put nearer £1.5m into the club. If a club is skint why would you sack the manager and start a dof and new scouting network plus try however unsuccessfully to sign a manager who has a fee attached?
-
no he didnt. He said yesterday he was only 90% fit, so agreed with murty to sit out or in other words as we said when pedro quit, Alves will miss the games until january then go, same as pena and herrera the comments were on the back of sutton saying should the best players not play when 90% fit when the game is this important, most agreed
