  1. Hang in there, BH, and thanks for taking the time and effort to give us a report on the proceedings.
  2. Since the board never spoke seriously to any of the other fans' groups, and that is where our frustration came from, what's the problem with the suggestion at the meeting? Now that Wallace has gone and if the new guy buys into the RFB then wouldn't it be better that the board actually talks openly to one group at least? As has been mooted, any fan can email any member of the RFB and put a question to a rep. Where, then, is any fan not being represented? Is it not better to have one group getting answers than no group getting answers? If this, the RFB, works maybe it could be expanded.
  3. 4. Have you ever lost someone close to you, a child maybe? That is a hole in the heart that never leaves you. There are triggers every where that can evoke memories that can be very painful. For a person to deliberately induce that kind of trauma on a person is utterly indefensible. - MiriamWebster, Full Definition of INDEFENSIBLE a : incapable of being maintained as right or valid : untenable b : incapable of being justified or excused : inexcusable - If you were using the 'free speech' argument while discussing the 'GB' seven for singing their terrorist songs I could cede the point, football banter. If you were bemoaning the fact that the supporter called Limmey who called Angela Haggerty 'a ****** bitch' and was jailed for six months, I could see your point. I think I can safely say that everyone I have met in life is two-faced. The level of two-facedness is set by the person themself and how they view society's level of acceptance of that behaviour. Similarly, the level of unsavoury, inappropriate and downright sick speech that a person is prepared to air is set forth by that person and how he views society's acceptance of same. Perhaps this is one of these instances where society needs to make a statement. There can be no empathy for his youth, naivety or crassness. He was entirely wrong, and should be forced to accept responsibility for his post whether or not he realised his target audience was bigger than he thought. Life has consequences. Ask the relatives of the sixty-six.
  5. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/celtic-winger-aleksandar-tonev-given-4537436 Celtic winger Aleksandar Tonev given seven-game ban after SFA find him guilty of racially abusing opponent Oct 30, 2014 16:43 By --> THE Hoops star faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after the football association found him guilty of abusing Aberdeen defender Shay Logan. Logan and Tonev in action at Celtic Park CELTIC winger Aleksandar Tonev has been handed a seven-match ban after being found guilty of using racist insults, the Scottish Football Association has announced. The on-loan Aston Villa midfielder was charged following an incident involving Aberdeen defender Shay Logan during a Scottish Premiership match last month. The Bulgarian was ordered to appear before the SFA's judicial panel, which ruled he had committed "excessive misconduct by the use of offensive, insulting and abusive language of a racist nature". However, Celtic insist they are backing their player's claims of innocence and plan to appeal. A club spokesperson said: "Racism has no place in football and as a club for all people, Celtic absolutely abhors racism of any kind. "This was a very unfortunate case, but the club has accepted Aleksandar's explanation that he did not say the words that were alleged to have been said and that he is not a racist. "We are, therefore, very disappointed by the outcome today and can confirm that Aleksandar will be appealing this decision."
  6. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/crime/police-investigate-ibrox-disaster-twitter-4536050 Police investigate Ibrox disaster Twitter troll who allegedly posted a sick tweet mocking victims of accident which claimed 66 lives Oct 30, 2014 13:55 By James Moncur DUNDEE United fan Grant Bell said Ibrox was mostly empty during Tuesday’s League Cup match with St Johnstone because fans “had great difficulty using the stairs again.” POLICE are investigating claims a football fan allegedly posted a sick tweet mocking victims of the Ibrox disaster which claimed 66 lives. A message in the name of Dundee United fan Grant Bell said Ibrox was mostly empty during Tuesday’s League Cup match with St Johnstone because fans “had great difficulty using the stairs again.” Alongside it was a newspaper splash reporting the 1971 disaster in which 66 fans died and 200 were injured in a crush on a stairway as supporters tried to leave the stadium. Dozens of calls were made to the Michelin Tyre’s factory in Dundee where the alleged troll works as an apprentice, calling for him to be axed. Donald Mackenzie, personnel manager at Michelin, said the firm had launched an investigation into the staff member’s alleged conduct but declined to say whether the employee had been suspended. He said: “Michelin is aware of the posts that have allegedly been made on social media by an employee. We are still receiving calls, I’d estimate the number so far being 50-plus. “We are taking the matter very seriously and a management investigation has been launched.” Disgusted fans took to social media to vent their fury. John Beaton said on Facebook:”What a moron, I was on the stairs, I was only 17, I was so lucky to survive, I will never forget that day, it is not a subject to joke about EVER! NEVER FORGET THEM! While Gary Boag added: “Shocked at this guys comments !! Could not believe he posted that ! He deserves what he gets ! I would hard to lose anybody close to me , never mind any clown mocking it!! SAD!” The anger has spread to other parts of the UK, with groups in Liverpool reporting the tweet to the police. John McGivern, secretary of the Hillsborough Ibrox Memorial Group, said: “I am disgusted by the tweet mocking the 66 people who lost their lives at the Ibrox stadium disaster, including eight-year-old Nigel Pickup from Liverpool. I have contacted Merseyside Police over this and reported it as a hate crime.” A spokesman for Police Scotland said the issue was being investigated. The Twitter and Facebook accounts have since been deleted.
  7. http://www.telegraph...St-Andrews.html Birmingham City 0 Bolton Wanderers 1, match report: Neil Lennon sent off in winning start at St Andrew's Birmingham City vs Bolton Wanderers, Championship – Victory for former Celtic manager in his first game in charge of struggling Bolton Wanderers is marred after he is sent to the stands Posted Image Sidelined: Neil Lennon was sent to the stands for repeatedly leaving his technical area Photo: ACTION IMAGES By Jon Culley, St Andrew's 8:06PM BST 18 Oct 2014 Posted ImageComment Neil Lennon accused the match officials of being “pedantic” after victory in his first game in charge of struggling Bolton Wanderers was marred by the former Celtic manager being sent to the stands after repeatedly being warned about straying from his technical area by fourth official Amy Fearn. The Northern Irishman was dismissed after Wanderers, leading through a first-half Matt Mills header, were awarded a penalty eight minutes from time, which resulted in Birmingham goalkeeper Darren Randolph being sent off. “I had been warned by the fourth official about encroaching but it is my first game in charge and perhaps I was a bit over- exuberant,” Lennon said. “But it was all a bit unnecessary and a little bit pedantic. “It wasn’t as if I was arguing with every decision, swearing at the opposition manager or being aggressive in any way. The fourth official called the referee over after the penalty was awarded, when I had stepped on the pitch to give instructions to my players while Birmingham were sorting out who would go in goal. “ I will appeal against it. I had been warned and I did run down the touchline to celebrate our goal, but I tried to deal with it with good humour and felt they should have cut me some slack. You see a lot worse in Scotland, so maybe I’ll just have to get used to the way things are down here.”
  8. I think that's out of order. Do you pay this man to do your bidding? I think as a volunteer he is perfectly entitled to give a report of the proceedings when and how he sees fit.
  9. He's absolutely right in that the goal is to get into the top flight by any legal means. However, to intimate in October that you will not win the league is extremely poor. How do you motivate your locker room when they read that as being acceptable? You can't defend that kind of an attitude.
  10. Yeah, but Jig had to turn first to get back into position. You know how long it takes him to make a turn. Right, Hutton, new CH.
  11. There's something bothering me about this whole thread. It's about perceived fairness. Especially in the application of forum rules. Here is a post from Frankie from a thread called 'A polite reminder' ... "A polite reminder With a vital period in the club's ongoing challenges coming up I'd like to make a few points of order. 1. Abuse and insults While I don't expect everyone to get on like a house on fire and I'm more than aware a few people like to be loose in their interpretation of debate, please keep it civil and avoid insulting anyone. 2. Discussing other fan groups/forums Once again, while I don't expect everyone to be a fan of other websites or all fan groups, I think it's important to note we are all Rangers fans and I don't want people on here to add to the division we see elsewhere. 3. Trolling Yes, it's easy to circle round to underlying issues from time to time. However, parroting the same stuff can quickly become tedious - as can refusing to answer points in relation to this. Either take an constructive part in discussion here or do your baiting elsewhere. A few people have already been warned in relation to the above. I don't care if you have 1 post or 10,000; you're not immune from censure, temporary and permanent bans if you consistently refuse to adhere to the above simple requests. No excuses folks." What is bothering me I think is that some posters have been allowed to make false statements and they remain as unrevoked posts. So too, are some posts that abuse members of other forums left to remain as unrevoked. All this after corroboration from such a well-respected and esteemed poster and blogger - D'Art. - that the statements made are wrong. I am not a member of VB nor do I know this poster 3909 04. He may have history I don't know. I can't say I seen any abuse or false statements in his posts, but it does seem a bit incongruous with the objectives of this forum that he should feel the need to close his account.
  12. Hold it. Doesn't the Objectional Behaviour Act also apply to internet postings? If someone objects to being called an arsehole, maybe he could set a precedent. Maybe instead of protecting FS you could tell him, as has been done on many occasions to others, not to abuse fellow bears. Or is that too selective?
  13. You know, we've seen other threads where people have said that we need to spend £30M+ to compete with the scum, but when you look at this list we may be all right. All of these guys have been included in the first team squad and/or seen action on the field. This kind of game time can only be good for them. Even if we only get a couple of them breaking into the first team we may only need to buy one or two players to win the big league. If you have time, Zappa, why don't you make these reports a weekly feature? Be good to keep them in mind.
  14. It's funny how a leopard never changes his spots, eh?
  15. Never had a problem worrying about whether a guy is a catholic or not, a guy's religion is his own business. Now with republicans and Irish nationalists that's a different story. Will not concede one inch of the Union to these people.
  16. From Toronto to the Quebec border it's about 3 hours. From the border to Montreal it's about another hour. Both Toronto and Montreal are swinging cities. Anyway, they are probably transplanted Quebecers. A lot of them come to Ontario or Alberta looking for work. Should say that when you hit the border " just doon the road" changes to "juste en bas de la rue" - damn 'yessers', hard enough to speak colonial english without this other guff.
  17. Bet you they were from Quebec !!
  18. Take it as you find it. Don't you see the irony in your statement considering the discussion?
  19. Yeah, that's funny, but I'm not throwing implications around that are not being substantiated.
  20. 1. Then unless you have spoken to the other candidates you should not be commenting or implying any untoward intentions by any of the candidates. 2. It's funny how other people see things different from ourselves when our juices are flowing !!!
  21. I'll look forward to that because I am not aware of why BH is taking all of this flak. Also, I am not aware of why FS is accused of being a grass.
  22. By making that statement - " ... in case it could be perceived as potentially gaining an advantage by other prospective candidates." - you are implying that BH could conceivably gain some kind of advantage over the other prospective candidates by speaking to the Rev. McQuarrie. For that to happen, you are implicating the Rev McQuarrie in granting any kind of conceivable advantage. We know this because you tell us that the Rev. McQuarrie will chair the meeting.
