  1. I don't know how but more will emerge from this. It really does stink.
  2. Moonbeams for God's sake. Does this guy think we are complete suckers?
  3. Good piece again, D'Art. Mather said at the NARSA convention in San Francisco, words to the effect - " we have not forgotten those who have attempted to harm us, but we must choose our time to strike back." Does this present board stand by that statement? Are they biding their time until conditions are more favourable? Maybe these questions should be posed to them. I am sure the support would be more patient if they knew the committment was there.
  4. I presume your questions are directed at our support in general? As a comparison of the two supports ... We demanded that Rangers started in the 3rd division rather than accept the corrupt plan from Regan and Liewell to drop only to the 1st division. We wanted to support a team we could be proud of, not one in which we would be embarrased.
  5. I wonder if the only good thing to come out of this will be that any team who might meet C1888c in any competition at any level will make sure that before a ball is kicked, that their paperwork is in order. Oh, and make sure that they double check the scum's paperwork for any possible mistake on any player, coach, water boy etc. How must the rest of Europe be looking at C1888c now?
  6. This thing just doesn't stack up. Even if the player who required to be substituted was on his knees with exhaustion would the team with a 6-1 lead not substitute a player, even with a goalkeeper, who was free from controversy rather than anyone who had a whiff of anything that would contravene the rules. It just feels like this is too convenient, for the scum, to be true. How dumb do UEFA think the fans of Europe are?
  7. There is something very wrong with Euro football if this aberration stands. What is another name for corruption - C ****c?
  8. Nope. It just stinks. The Poles surely wouldn't be that stupid with a 6-1 lead. Would they?
  9. They will probably appeal the Judge's decision on the few cases involving MIH personnel which he ruled on. You would have to think that by now all 'points of law' arguments have been exhausted.
  10. The points you make in your post are valid. However, had C*ltic won the game last night very little in your post would have changed. For the moment we are just enjoying the discomfort of our friends in the east, especially TGFITW. If I may be permitted, I have a greeting for them ... GIRFUY !!
  11. Why don't you all just wait and see what V.B. are going to do?
  12. He was substituted after 70 mins. tonight and he has been substituted a few times in pre-season as well. He had his career season last year, he won't reach those heights again. At least, not with this supporting cast.
  13. Shows what happens when Scotland depends on the Irish to do anything for them !! One thing at at a time. Let us enjoy the moment.
  14. Nah, you're okay there. Commons and Stokes have both been replaced already.
  15. You got it Blueflag ... Celtic 0 2 Leg Warsaw M Zyro 36 M Kucharczyk 61 (ht:0-1) Aggregate Score: 1-6
  16. If you'll notice a few posts above yours we had already agreed to voluntarily suspend our discussion due to other posters' advice. No need to go overboard.
  17. Two points and then I'm done. A) The OO has not asked the NO campaign to highlight the OO or its parade in any official capacity. So, you can hold your indignation on that point. b) There has been more than one poster start to complain about politics and sport getting mixed up. In lieu of recent events, I think we should heed the advice and end this discussion.
  18. I repeat, I do get it. You will notice that I refused to allow your first post to pass without comment. Why would that be? Well you state here - "Scotland has changed, and not in a way that I would have chosen, but it would be a lot more useful if people could dismiss romantic notions of how it was and deal with things as they now are. What the Orange movement once was, it no longer is." Let's look at that. First you berate me for looking at the situation for the way it was and then exhort me to deal with things the way they are. Fifty plus years ago as a young man I could feel that something was not right but I couldn't put my finger on it. As time passed I began to realise that the mhedia in Scotland were presenting things to me in a context that was not as it should be. I slowly became to realise that they were attempting to have me accept that it was wrong of me to be a proud Protestant and that I should champion the Catholic cause. You have to understand that this was an insidious campaign that was hard to comprehend. They did not come right out and say that as a Protestant I was being sectarian, that realization came later. In those days there were haves and have-nots. Mostly the Protestants had the better jobs. The catholics wanted them, they took them and the Protestants let them. As they moved from the lower to middle to top managerial jobs ( including the better paper pusher jobs ), institutions were changed and a culture was eroded. Throughout that period institutions were portrayed as being wrong, the Loyalist institutions in especial. The populace bought into this propaganda, apathy set in, ergo institutions like the Orange Order were portrayed as yesterday's child. It is a fact, is it not, that to destroy a culture you first destroy its institutions? It became fashionable not to offend anyone for fear of being labelled as sectarian or a bigot. I don't have the power to buy middle-page ads in the newspapers so I do what I can by writing to editors, government departments, etc. and state my resistance whenever I see this campaign being perpetrated. Just as I refuted your first post, I continue to resist whenever I can and wherever I see an opportunity. I refuse to accept that my culture is wrong. I refuse to accept that although the young people of Scotland have been raised with an increased exposure to this insidious campaign that the battle is over. The P/U/L community can redress the balance, but leaders have to emerge to encourage this resurrection. Each individual has to accept that they need to withstand the guff they are being fed if they wish to, as you put it, deal with things as they are. I refuse to be fatalistic. If you feel that you want to be a Protestant, then protest don't accept. Look what happened when Calvin and Knox protested. The power lies with your generation. All my generation can do is encourage you and support where we can. Being positive rather than negative may help. Maybe your generation could start by reclaiming GCC. Why not, eh? Maybe the shitstorm that is supposedly heading in the direction of the east end will assist you. Ah, but first the NO vote has to be won.
  19. Yes, Hildy I get it. The difference between your first post and this one is night and day. Whereas you were dismissive and disrespectful of the Orange Order in your first post now you are being constructive. I shall not allow that kind of criticism of the P/U/L culture to pass without comment. I do not believe "that the Orange movement is an anachronism that serves no useful purpose in modern-day Scotland.", but I am willing to accept that this is a perception that is real. I also agree with you that the leadership of the Orange Order face a huge challenge to their abilities of overturning this perception. Thanks for the discussion, and may the NO campaign fulfill its aspirations.
  20. No one questioned your experience, however, everything is relative. Now, a question for you - do you think that the P/U/L community should pack up and just disappear? Do you think they should just ... SURRENDER , in the face of your fervent argument?
  21. a) You will admit that you have a finite acquaintance with the Scottish population? b) What is the %age of Catholic councillors on the Glasgow council?
  22. Your first four lines are covered by your own original statement - "As someone who is fully behind the NO campaign, I hope both Rangers and the Orange movement keep a safe distance from it." You are the one who is attempting to combine two separate entities - Rangers and the Orange Order - as one entity. Please stop doing that. Have you been to an Orange Order, an Apprentice Boy, or an RBP parade recently? Can you tell me that the popularity of these parades is decreasing? By whom would you say that these organizations are being "reviled rather than respected"? On these organizations' side of the mountain they appear to be revered, but on your side of the mountain they appear to be reviled. Have you ever investigated the rules and charters of these organizations or are you basing your revulsion of them on the little drunken neds who attach themselves to them at parades? I have never attempted to persuade people and sell them an idea or concept, placed an advert, nor advocated that any leader should promote the Orange Order in any campaign concerning the NO campaign. I don't know of anyone from these organizations that have requested that such actions should be done. That is all in your own imagination. The Orange Order has stated that they will be holding a march in support of the NO campaign. That is all. They wish to show their support of the Union. They have not asked anyone else to join them. They have not asked for anyone to be recruited to their order. They have not asked the NO campaign to afford them any special treatment or advance them any favourable status. They know, unlike yourself it would seem, that they are responsible for every member of their Order. That is all they are responsible for. I assume that the NO campaign is in favour of every citizen having the right to express their respective points of view in a legal manner. As far as Rangers go, what exactly do you mean by - " I am a Rangers fan who understands that Rangers is becoming toxic."? Are you implying that the P/U/L community are somehow poisoning the Rangers? What exactly is sad and regrettable, apart from the fact we are poor and play lousy football?
