  1. On paper. In reality we have been atrocious.
  2. Your formation is completely absurd!
  3. You honestly think we have that sort of long term planning? I don't see it myself...
  4. I'm presuming you mean which Scot is doing the best atm? I'd be inclined to say Ross McCormack, 23 goals in the championship with not much more than half the season gone. The guy we made no profit on. McCarthy is a regular for Everton as well. I've not watched much of them this season so can't really comment but he I don't think he has had any assists or goals.
  5. McGeady as doing well and got linked with Seria A clubs but things fell apart and he got benched. He moved to Everton and doesn't get a game. Gets less game time than Naismith.
  6. Was watching something on sky plus and had the misfortune of stumbling upon Sportscene just now. Pat Nevin, who is a decent pundit but a rabid tim made a comment about the old firm. He then qualified it saying 'although some people wouldn't call it the old firm any more'. Very, very similar to what Jim Spence said recently, again on a BBC medium. Just completely unnecessary and a sly dig that they seem to intent to make. You wouldn't see Davie Provan making such a dig, though maybe that's why Davie Provan is now the main co-commentator on SKY games and Nevin is on Sportscene. To be honest, I think the club should take a stance here with this petty, insolent behaviour. We are recognised both legally and sportingly by all bodies as the same club, there is no room for discussion here. It's tragic that this is still being brought up. For a professional pundit to make a jibe on a supposedly objective government corporation is just pathetic. Can you imagine if a bear made such a comment were the boot on the other foot? There would be all sorts of sectarian accusations. Then again, apart from irrelevant loon balls like Leggat, nobody in the media admits they support us. Possibly out of fear for their careers. The only folk in the media who nail their colours to the mast are non Scottish based figures like Jeff Randall and Andy Gray.
  7. How many quality players have Scotland produced in the last 20 years? Not only is the general standard terrible, but we never seem to ever produce elite level players. Wales have produced the likes of Giggs and Bale, why don't we? Well the answer isn't that difficult. Even tiny wee countries like Montenegro come out with players like Vucinic and Jovetic. Even if the standard here is poor you would think by the law of averages a top player would come along. When is the last time a Scottish player really stood out in one of the top leagues?
  8. Aye! That was the one I was trying to remember! He'd just struggled with Demichelis and then started stuttering before saying Jovetic. He actually looked embarrassed before saying it because everyone had been ripping it out of him. Someone patted him on the back when he was trying to say Jovetic. He's basically just a complete joke!
  9. I know it's funny when he gets names wrong and Jeff and the guys take the absolute pish out of him but what does he actually contribute? There was a point today in his analysis that I started to think that he is probably verging on full mental retardation. I mean ffs Demichelis is an Argentine internationalist that has played for Bayern and is now a regular for Man City, surely any football pundit should be capable of pronouncing his name? If I am doing a job I put a bit of planning into it and make sure I know what I am doing. He is going live on TV not knowing anything about what he is being paid to do. They may as well get Gazza's pal Jimmy Five Bellies on after 15 pints of stella to see what he has to say. I think the joke has gone on a bit far now. He has nothing insightful to say and they need rid of him. His analysis is terrible and he struggles to pronounce any player's name that has more than one syllable. Sky is a weird mix for me. You get the superb analysis from Carragher and Neville in games then Super Saturday is largely a joke really. Maybe that's the point? I just think Merson is completely unfit for the job.
  10. The complete lack of cohesive passing, no build up play, terrible football generally is more of a worry than the defence to me. The defence is always something that can be improved. If the team cannot pass the ball and work creatively as a unit then you are never really going to get far. Walter achieved success domestically but often had huge resources that relied on individual player quality to see us through games. Some managers that play dire football like Allardyce and Pulis might do enough with their direct football to escape relegation most seasons but a team which cannot pass the ball is never going to amount to much unless they have significant individual brilliance that they can rely on. There is a reason that the sides that all the top sides play possession based football. I can't recall a side that plays direct football ever winning the champions league. In the 90's if we had a manager that had a better philosophy, we might not have got hammered in Europe season after season. Mourinho gets a lot of criticism for his style of play but his sides generally keep the ball on the deck, they rarely lose possession and they are lethal on the counter.
  11. It's admirable that you stick to your guns but I think it is about time to admit you are wrong. You are just being pig headed on the issue because it is proved beyond all doubt that man is a swindling cunt.
  12. Apparently that doesn't matter Would have thought our wages are a lot greater than that...Aberdeen players are on peanuts. I remember when they signed Craig Hignett on something like £15k wages, that was seen as a blue chip signing for them. Would their players be on much more than a couple of grand a week?
  13. Our chances are a lot stronger now but I have a hunch we would have a big struggle v Aberdeen both home and away just now.
  14. Looks like it could be a good day to have SAS in my fantasy team. And a bad day to have Mertesacker .
  15. some shot.......
  16. Chelsea might go top today
  17. Woah there nelly! I think that should be qualified with a 'in Scotland' .
  18. I don't think that is an excuse because in Ally's tenure we have generally been woeful in all cup games.
  19. I don't think anyone is shitting their pants. People are just looking at a team of players and manager who regularly don't perform and surmising.
  20. Aye I must have missed the great stuff played in pre-season too. Was it the loss v Sheffield Wednesday or the draw v Dundee that did it for you
  21. Davie Provan. Tarrier who always provides an objective analysis and now basically the main co-commentator for Sky after Gary Neville.
  22. I'm not talking about goal tallys against vastly inferior opposition. I'm talking about playing football the way it should be played. We did it tonight. We rarely have this season. Long may it continue.
  23. Featuring class acts such as Reyna, Mols, Van Bronkhorst, Albertz...and Jonatan Johansson:seal: PS - Something I will forever hold on to is we had a Champions league elite level side in my life time. Something the tims can only dream of. If Mols didn't get injured etc. Ironic that our worst manager and one of our worst squads in SPL history reached the last 16 and almost the quarters yet we ultimately failed under Dick.
  24. Is this a serious post? I don't recall us performing like we did tonight when the league was not already won.
  25. Owen Coyle would probably do a decent job with them.
