  1. Any ban would be domestic. Would be ok to play in Europe. A couple of league games off may actually do us a favour #sportsscience
  2. I'd imagine that the players will be looking forward to the Europa League. We should give decent game time to several of the younger players in the league. Rest regulars that have the most risky knocks or niggles.... But I doubt it will happen.
  3. They were good friends as well. As with most successful English teams in those days, there were several prominent Scots at the club.
  4. From what my uncle told me, Mudie was an excellent player.
  5. Name dropping and bragging He was sacked as Nottingham Forest manager mid season and the guy to takeover from him was called Brian Clough. Clough couldn't initially get a tune out of the squad and took the team further down the league table, only just avoiding relegation to the third tier. Four years later they would be European Cup winners. Why the turnaround? Peter Taylor, his assistant (at Derby where they won the league) rejoined Clough in '76. Sometimes the real difference isn't always in the headlines. Who is the main tactical brain at Ibrox today?
  6. Vettriano was born in Methil. The year before, my late uncle earned East Fife the biggest transfer fee received by a Scottish club up until that date, 26,000 sterling, in 1950. He went South to play in the same forward line as Stanley Mathews and Stan Mortensen. Bringing it back to Rangers. That same year, my uncle played for East Fife (manager: Scot Symon) in the Scottish Cup Final and as a forward, came up against the Iron Curtain. The likes of George Young, Tiger Shaw and Willie Woodburn. Predictably, Rangers (manager: Bill Struth), kept a clean sheet and won the Cup.
  7. Not for me. You either have him as manager or no where near the football department, nevermind first team. So for me that means, thanks and goodbye. He might end up being the next Graeme Murty at the rate we go through managers. It would be interesting to know who is actually coming up with the tactics. Whoever that is, may be worth considering.
  8. Yesterday was the eighth consecutive fixture we have played that has resulted in an away win (both victories and defeats). We must currently be the bookies best friends.
  9. Raskin has become much more active and productive around the opposition penalty box.
  10. There is no patience out there, to allow a manager to develop talent in the first team. They don't develop sat on the bench.
  11. Have to admit to underestimating BF. I said we'd scud Motherwell then suffer against Fenerbache and Celtic. Couldn't have got it more wrong. Credit to him for putting together a coaching team that have got results in big games. That said, I wouldn't want him as 'permanent' manager. Although with everything up in air at the moment, its difficult to know in what direction the club will go.
  12. They are without McGregor and are playing a centre half (Nawgood or something) that I can't remember hearing about. Odds on a win have shortened
  13. I think the 4-1 win was the first leg. I think the first time we overcame a 2-0 first leg defeat was more recently, against USG.
  14. We go from one extreme to another very quickly, in so many areas to do with the football. Igamane went from dud to generational talent in the blink of an eye. The reactions to Dessers are more like a 'whores knickers'. Get behind him, he is doing his best. We don't have the money to get a ready made closer to top of the range forward.
  15. Playing against Kuhn and Maeda should be used to practice for the Williams brothers
  16. Can't get to worked up about this game. Already got the Bilbao quarter final at the front of my thoughts. Obviously, the players and management don't have that option. Here is hoping we keep to the game plan, don't get spooked and can perform well. We need a positive start and mentally stay with it. The tiredness will kick in, if we let it. @alexscottislegend @Uilleam Briefly touching on protests against the slaughtering of at the very least, tens of thousands of women and children, the collective punishment and declared objectives of ethnic cleansing. Putting yourself in a place where instead of protesting against such acts, you at least tacitly support them is something, IMO, beyond the pale and devoid of basic humanity.
  17. SC/2021: St.Johnstone (Lost) CC/2012: Queen of the South (Lost) Most of the European penalty shootouts have been away or at neutral venues. Dortmund : Lost PSG. : Won Fiorentina : Won Eintracht : Lost
  18. 7 of the 8 seeds (top 8 in league phase) got through to the EL quarter finals. Only Bodo/Glimt beating Olympiakos bucked the trend. Winner of our quarter final will play either Lyon or Manchester United. The only two teams to beat us in league phase.
  19. European Quarter Final Extra Dosh Never in doubt
  20. Last player to miss a penalty against us in a penalty shootout was Rogic in 2016. Since then we've lost all three penalty shootouts. St.Johnstone, Frankfurt and Celtic. Kostic (Fenerbache) and Tav both scored in the EL Final shootout. Could do with a winner before it gets to penalties, pretty please with cream on top.
  21. Pressure applied Challenging second half to come. Need to keep 11 men on the field We are still in front. Similar to the Dortmund tie. We need to regroup and take the initiative away from them.
  22. Bilbao (3-0 up) almost certainly the team that will play the winner of our tie.
  23. You should have just thanked me for pointing out your error and you would have been spared from it.
