NOW YOU KNOW: Derek Parlane was on the bench in Rangers' 3-2 European Cup-Winners' Cup Final victory over Moscow Dynamo in 1972 DEREK PARLANE became a fans’ favourite at Ibrox at the tender age of 18 after scoring in Rangers’ historic 2-0 victory Bayern Munich in the semi-final of the European Cup-Winners’ Cup at Ibrox in 1972… SEAN (Kinning Park) – Can you tell me how many goals Derek Parlane scored for Rangers and Scotland, and did he play in the 1972 Cup-Winners’ Cup Final? Derek Parlane was at Ibrox for 10 years (1970-80). In 202 appearances he scored 80 goals, the most famous being Rangers second goal in the Cup-Winners’ Cup semi-final in 1972 against the great Bayern Munich (Franz Beckenbauer, Gerd Muller, Uli Hoeness, Sepp Maier, etc) in only his third game for the first team. Derek was on the subs bench for the final which Rangers won 3-2 against Moscow Dynamo at the Nou Camp. Derek became known as the ‘King of Ibrox’ and was inducted into Hall of Fame in 2010. In his very successful time at Rangers he won three league titles, three Scottish Cups, three League Cups and the European Cup- Winners’ Cup. Derek had a varied and far travelled career, taking him to England, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Belgium. He played for several teams including Leeds United, Manchester City, Swansea City and Airdrieonians. He earned 12 caps for Scotland scoring once against Northern Ireland at Hampden in a 3-0 win in 1975. http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/15562941.NOW_YOU_KNOW__Derek_Parlane_was_on_the_bench_in_Rangers__39__3_2_European_Cup_Winners__39__Cup_Final_victory_over_Moscow_Dynamo_in_1972/

India is an old British colony and there are already many Indians in Britain so I doubt if they would be behind Korea and Japan for adaptability.

Charlton boss Karl Robinson says forward Joe Dodoo has not done enough to merit a start for the side. The Ghanaian, who the League One side on deadline day, has struggled for a starting berth. The 22-year-old scored on his debut against Oldham but has seen since limited opportunities. admits Joe Dodoo has not done enough to warrant a start for the League One side. And Robinson said: “He’s come on in the last few games and when you come on, you have to have an impact. “So you bring Tariqe Fosu off, who’s probably one of our best players. You bring one of our leading goal scorers off who’s just scored a worldie. “I felt what we had on the pitch was enough to win the game. But it wasn’t to be. “I feel there’s more to come from Joe. There’s a settling in period that every player goes through. “He needs to settle down, get used to the club, what we’re trying to do, travelling and playing games again. “And then he’ll be a better player for that. But at this moment in time, I feel that what we’re doing is right and at the end of the day it’s my decision.” http://ghanasoccernet.com/charlton-boss-karl-robinson-explains-loanee-joe-dodoos-bench-warming-role

Thanks mate a great read as always. I have to admit I know nothing of Hamilton. I can't remember ever being there. The only change I think will be is that John will be playing instead of Hodson. -
They were by far the better team and thoroughly deserved the win. It hurts to say it but it is true. Anderlecht were absolutely terrible.
-
I don't know what he has been up to but I think I am probably still ahead on points.
-
The best bit with him was when he was saying the Americans were nowhere near Bagdad when you could see the American tanks on the other side of the river. classic

When I moved over to Holland even although I worked with all Dutch people it was always a large British group I went about with at the weekend. That is really what kept me in Holland as it was party time. I will say though there certainly could have been a few photo's of me with a beer in my hand. It was good I was not a football player then.

Funny how it is when you bring in players from a different culture that the problems seem to happen. Dutch Swedish Germans etc seem have virtually the same culture and seem to fit in far easier. There is also an individual element as well of course. This is just my opinion and not a statement of fact.

TRO: Rangers must start winning or a big question will need answered
pete replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
The Parks have been involved with Rangers for years as far as I know. Would they really put Pedro before Rangers? I think even they would admit they may have got it wrong and put it in the past. -
Yes funny really why Celtic didn't get the Sunday date given they have no game the following Wednesday as far as I know. There will be a sneaky reason somewhere. Rangers was even the first name out the hat. Strange!
-
We will never be on a par with Celtic I hope.We are better than them and always will be. A football club is not just about 90 minutes.
-
He should send a copy of this over to Ibrox.
-
He is saying something else is insinuating that he isn't, saying he believes it or it is a fact per se.
-
No problem mate it is good to laugh at yourself sometimes.
-
Certainly proves it was far from bullshit that you were shouting about. I may have been generous using the word most. How many points were we behind Aberdeen when Warburton left and how many points did we end up behind them? We had also played both Celtic and Aberdeen away in the first 7 games last season. At this time last season we had played 4 away games and 3 home games and this year that is reversed so all is not black and white that we are doing better this season. I will admit we now have a goalscorer who can score and that will certainly make a difference hopefully

Unfortunately if you have any good youths they are lured away by money before they get near the first team
