  1. That is imperative for a 4-5-1 that you have speed to change to attack, That has been the much loved Ajax system for years. The difference is that you have to have two wingers that are willing to trace back and not two midfielders that struggle to get forward.
  2. Agree fully Craig and i will go further to say Whittaker is not a good buy for midfield. Just as a thought what about turning it round, Hutton in front of whittaker. Hutton has the pace to hit the bye line. Hutton is not the best passer in the world and that may hold him back but i would like to see Hutton given the freedom to race forward with whittaker taking over at RB.
  3. In the end it was a good move for ten Cate and Ajax. I think Ajax are happy he is going and they will recieve about 8mill euro's for him. ten Cate is a hands on coach good on the training field and may think he will become head coach one day.
  4. Dnipro 0-0 ABERDEEN was 1-1 Gribz otherwise it would have been penalties. Just the name AC Milan sounds immense but i think beating Lyon away is a bigger scalp.
  5. Fergie had an off day as well but the reason for that was that the material man strangely used persil instead of Ariel. You can't get a good material man any where these days.
  6. I don't want to question Walters managerial ability at this moment but even at the amateur level that i have played and coached it is known to play 4-5-1\4-3-3 you need a striker who can hold a ball up and midfield players who can break at speed. Walter even said that himself during the week. Why the hell did he then play a slow player as striker who can't hold on to a ball? Why did he play two wide men who are just as slow and also lack in technical ability as attacking players? I hope it is not to say see i was right to leave Hemdani out and Hemdani is made the scapegoat for this result. Walter you showed atrocious managerial skills today and against Hearts, I hope it was two bad day's at the office because these are real schoolboy level faults in my eyes. Why did it take so long to change things? The radio commentators were saying after 20 minutes that the team shape was wrong we had to change things. I will agree with Walter on one thing that we have three players on the bench every week that have no chance of playing is a joke and helping no one
  7. Obviously not leaving our best players sitting on their arses for the big games.
  8. 1-0 Villa. Sorry Gribz
  9. Yes i have heard his name mentioned but i think they will try and get Co Adriannse first. Co is from the Ajax school and plays the system Ajax want to play.

    Good News!

I can understand that as i work on a large work floor. People used to smoke at their machines or work place and there were no complaints. Now 10-15 people stand in one area smoking and the smoke in that area is overwhelming. My boss brought in cabins where two people fit in with a built in extractor but lets everyone sit around them which makes them a waste of time. There are also many complaints smokers now have more breaks than non-smokers as some smokers are there for 5-10mins per half hour.

    Good News!

I agree with you but as a person who has never smoked i do think that smokers should be given an area where they can enjoy a cigarette if they want. If people have a ticket then opening a few turnstiles at half-time to let smokers out and in surely isn't a big problem. An area within the ground would be a better option..

    Juninho Escapes

Agree fully Craig the booking should automatically drop as it simply was not a yellow card. If the UEFA can use video evidence against you, then you must be able to use it in your defence. Rangers must put in an appeal against this or take it further to other courts if UEFA don't accept it. MR Platini wants to cut out diving now is the time to start.
  13. LYON captain Juninho will escape punishment by UEFA for his blatant dive in last Tuesday's remarkable Champions League match - because it did not have a serious effect on the match. Davie Weir wrongly cautioned in LyonThe Brazilian midfielder conned Norwegian referee Tom Henning Ovrebo at a crucial stage in the game when he dived as Davie Weir went to challenge him just outside the box in first half injury time. Ovrebo not only awarded a free kick, he issued a yellow card to Weir. Juninho then took the free kick and came within inches of levelling the match as his shot hit the underside of the bar. UEFA have insisted that they are trying to eradicate "simulation" from the game but they have told rangers.co.uk today that they will only take action in a more serious situation - ie when a penalty is awarded as a result of deception. This happened recently, of course, with the two-match suspension handed out to Hearts player Saulius Mikoliunas for his blatant dive to earn Lithuania a penalty - which they scored - in the 3-1 Euro 2008 defeat by Scotland.Weir and Thomson celebrate the 3-0 win over Lyon Weir has no avenue of appeal against his caution - even although it has been proved to have been issued as a result of deception - but he had the last laugh as Rangers humbled the French side with their historic 3-0 victory. A UEFA spokesman told rangers.co.uk today: "There will be no case according to a preliminary analysis by a Disciplinary Inspector. "The player's action did not detoriate the regularity of the match as it resulted in a yellow card, which cannot be protested against, as well as a free-kick. Only serious acts of deceiving the referee are prosecuted such as diving resulting in a penalty." The fact that Weir now cannot appeal is absolutely scandalous. Again an innocent player is punished for something he never done and the perpetrator gets away with it. UEFA make decisions to suit themselves.
  14. He is not ready yet by a long while and to be honest i would rather he managed a smaller club first. If he remains as assistant for another 5 or 6 years then we may be able to take a chance on him, but i feel he is a bit too much of a clown(in the best sense) to be taken fully seriously. i have never seen him coaching on a daily basis and Walter does and he seems to trust him, and will have a big say on that decision i would imagine.
  15. Personally i think lady luck has a lot to do with it. On another day our shots could have missed and Lyon could have scored 3. I am not saying it is all luck but if you look at the Rangers Bayern game when Mols was injured, if we had a bit of luck that day we would have won easily. Yes tactics are important and for me if you have the right players a 4-5-1 becomes 4-3-3 with one pass as we did on Wednesday.I think 4-5-1\4-3-3 is the way to go in the League as well but Whittaker certainly won't fit as a midfielder then. Has Walter improved? i think we are always learning so he possibly has improved but i think he was too loyal to the old guard first time around and he did have a lot of ill luck in Europe.
  16. Signed for Chelsea this morning as assistant trainer. I feel that is a step down for him although financially better i suppose. Co Adriannse to take over at Ajax??
  17. Smartass! I meant of course between us and the tims as i think at the end of the season they are the only contenders for the title.
  18. Are they all in the UEFA? Shit i hope we stay in the Champions league with the easier teams.
  19. Saturday, 6 October 2007 _____________________________________Time_____TV Dundee United v Motherwell_____________15:00 Hearts v Falkirk________________________15:00 Kilmarnock v Inverness CT_______________15:00 Rangers v Hibernian____________________15:00 Sunday, 7 October 2007 Aberdeen v St Mirren____________________15:00 Gretna v Celtic_________________________15:00____** Looking at the fixtures, we can see that it is Rangers who have the most difficult fixture again this weekend, with a visit to Ibrox of third placed Hibs. Hibs have been playing well of late with a win over Celtic at Easter Road the most noticeable result. Away from home they have mostly recorded draws with only a win at Tynecastle on day one giving them three points. Rangers have yet to drop a point at Ibrox and their confidence will be sky high after Tuesdays 3-0 win in Lyon. Lets hope it is confidence and not complacency. If Rangers are going to be real title contenders then we have to take these matches in our stride. Rangers should take the three points but it wont be easy we will have to come out fighting from the start. Rangers win. Dundee United and Motherwell cross swords at Tannadice on Saturday. Motherwell are probably showing the best form in the SPL at the moment with a draw against Rangers last week, and a 4-1 win in the CIS cup against Hibs a few days earlier. United had the chance to top the league a few weeks ago, but two defeats in their last two games see them in fourth place on the same points as Motherwell, with United having a better goal difference. I fancy Motherwell to keep their good form going and get the win. Motherwell win. Hearts welcome Falkirk to Tynecastle and will be hoping that there recent run of form will continue against a Falkirk team that have lost their way this season. Hearts have in fact only beat Rangers at home this season with a loss to Hibs and a draw against Gretna the other scores. If Falkirk are wanting to avoid a relegation fight then they must start to find the form that gave them so many plaudits last season. I would think Hearts will come out on top on this one and continue to climb the league. Hearts win. Kilmarnock and Inverness meet at Rugby park and is in my eyes is the most difficult game to predict. Inverness have hit a vain of form winning their last two league games. Kilmarnock have been the strongest of the small teams for the last few years but they have been showing poor form of late, mostly lacking imagination to break down defenses. Apart from Hibs scoring four goals against Kilmarnock, they have been pretty solid at the back losing very few goals. I feel this could be the goalless draw game of the week. Draw St Mirren go up to Pittodrie on Sunday to meet an Aberdeen team riding on a high after qualifying for the UEFA group stages. This also means since Aberdeen played on Thursday evening and having had a journey home from the Ukraine, they may have a degree of tiredness in their legs. If I was Gus McPherson I would tell my team to keep the tempo of the game high, in the hope that Aberdeen tire. St Mirren are hard to break down and with Aberdeen having heavy legs I fancy another draw for this one as well. Draw, Celtic travel to fir park to take on bottom of the league Gretna and why Setanta have chosen this for their live game I will never know. Surely Rangers- Hibs or even Dundee united- Motherwell would be far better viewing, I suppose it is that Irish thing, Celtic are Also on a high after their win against AC Milan and will probably give some of their fringe players a place to rest other players. They may wait until they are a couple of goals up to make some changes though. I dont think even the most optimistic amongst us think Gretna can get anything from this game. Celtic Win
  20. Congratulations with your little princess Frankie. I hope they are home shortly.
  21. I hope no one betted on Ajax tonight they are getting pumped 3-0 at home after extra time.
  22. I am still wondering if the guy was arrested. If it had happened at Ibrox there would be a debate in the Scottish parliament tomorrow.
  23. Word is he will be taking over as field trainer in the next few weeks. The Ajax coach has had talks with Frank Arnesen, and they are now working on the financial side. Chelsea want the same structure as Manu with Avram Grant as manager and ten cate as field trainer.( Alla Fergie and Carlos Queiroz). A money move for me, trying to get Ajax back to the top as the big boss appeals to me more than playing second fiddle at chelsea.
  24. I didn't know the dick was Brazilian. I hate them too!!!! That prick Juninho yesterday. Rivaldo or whatever his name was, and now Diddy. Hing'n isnae good enough fur thum.
  25. Gav Rangers supporters make more sense.
