I see Lazio,Ajax and Celtic as the main contenders. Ajax because they have just lost Sneijder and need to adjust to that. They now have 18 mill in the pocket but could lose 10mill if they fail to Qualify.

I certainly have no complaints about McGregor i think he has done really well since he came in. Yes he did have a few flaps at crosses last year but what keeper does not have that. Someone said a good keeper is worth 15 points a season and i think McGregor saved us in at least 5 games last year.

Rangers 1 : 0 Red Star - Player Ratings and MoM Poll
pete replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Broadfoot was terrible for the first half-hour but thankfully he did improve. I disagree a bit with JCD i thought he played well and worked hard and was always a danger. I rated him higher than Broadfoot and Fergie, A 7 for me for him. I am still totally impressed with Carlos Cuellar he did make one mistake today to allow a good shot at goal but he really looks solid with excellent tackles. -
It has been posted before but i was killing myself laughing just as much now as the first time i heard it, CLASS!!!

They played like they were wearing it.:fish:

I am going to be pessimistic going on what i saw last season and what i saw on Sunday. We have done totally nothing in the motor of the team and i just don't think we are good enough in that department. From what i saw on Sunday i was impressed by Cuellar and McCulloch but it ends there. I saw an amateur mid-mid giving our midfield more problems than we gave him. Honestly i think we will again struggle against the Calley's, Motherwell's etc, simply because we lack imagination. With Cuellar i believe we are far stronger at the back and he looked impressive on the ground and in the air winning all high balls thrown at him. In saying that, that is the difference between an amateur team and a prof team, one foot in jumping strength and a couple of yards in speed. I hope i am wrong but i fear we lack the capacity to break down defences, I hope for a treble i fear for another bad year.

Positives from the tour for me are Cuellar looks really strong and classy. McCulloch looked good in the Lippstadt game and gave us an aerial goal and hopefully more power in that dept. Apart from that i see no new impulse to our system or our play, To be honested i don't see Naismith changing much either if he comes. I was positive last year and got a negative, now i am negative hoping for a positive,

As i said in my report of the Lippstadt game even an amateur was giving Fergie problems. We really need a mid mid that can run a game and is inventive going forward. IMO Barry has got lost in thinking he is bigger than anyone, and he is the one everyone has to give the ball to. He thinks he has grown bigger than all other players. He is definitely a case of less may be more.

I have heard someone has been illegally importing sun cream with a too high browning factor.:fish:

Have a few drams Jon and it will start spinning.

Funny how a mediocre player could make it so big, I guess he was in the right place at the right time and marrying Victoria didn't do him any harm.
-
That would be a tragedy for him and for Rangers. I hope it is a rumour and no truth in it. Scott Nesbitt comes to mind.

Murray started at RB with Papac at LB Cuellar and Webster as CB's. Murray moved to LB when Hutten came on. Murray just didn't know how to get near to his player, although i admit having Sionko in front of him never helped him. I for one won't be sorry to see both walk out the door but especially Sionko. I could have done more than him yesterday.

Just back from the game, After driving 2hrs 15 mins in 30 degrees plus we entered the ground and headed directly to the bar. In the bar were two beautiful waitresses. That alone made the two hour journey almost worthwhile. The game started with the thermometer on the broadcasters box reading 36 degrees celcius. In the beginning both teams were cancelling each other out in the midfield. Then Sebo got on a one on one race with a defender about 35 yards out and with his speed a muscle jostled his way past and tucked the ball inside the right hand post. The home team scored an excellent goal with a shot from outside the area on the right, high inside the left hand post leaving Smith --with little chance. The second goal was made and finished Nacho as he had moved to the left wing and got past three defenders to get pulled down in the box. He got up and after a short discussion slotted the penalty in the right corner with the keeper going the wrong way. A few minutes later Sebo from a cross from Fergie pulled off an overhead kick that was sending the ball into the top right hand corner when the keeper who had done nothing but drop the ball until then pulled off a fantastic save pushing the ball over the bar. The second goal for Lippstadt was also a beauty with Nacho losing the ball about 30 yards out on the left and the player from lippstadt curled the ball inside the right hand post. Lippstadt looked actually stronger for me at this time in the game although Nacho came eye to eye with the keeper i think twice and failed miserably to put the ball in the net. Half-Time. Back to the bar and goggled the two lovely waitress's for 12 minutes. We moved to the end Rangers were shooting at in the second half about level with the 18 yard box but to be honest most of the game was being played around the half way line. I started to notice the Nr 8 was having a big influence in the game. As i don't see the players that often i was wondering who he was. Then he broke from the left and forced his way through the middle and put in a shot that the keeper should have saved if he didn't fumble it into the net. Over the speakers came the scorer for Rangers is Nr 8 Charlie Adam. I thought then, that is not right but when you see players in the flesh they look different as on the telly. Then he scored heading from a Nacho Novo corner and again came the broadcaster with the scorer is Charlie Adam. Then the Nr11 went off and i said to my mate that is Charlie Adam but there was no broadcast of the substitution. After coming home i now know it was McCulloch as i thought that scored the two goals, My Assesment: Smith --Didn't do much except pick the ball out of the net. 6 Murray-- Does this guy understand the game 3 Cueller--- I have read since, that the first goal was his fault but i didn't catch ---------that. I thought he was excellent. Strong in the air and super cool on ----------the ground(First half MOM for me)---------------7 Webster--- Done his job well -----------------------------6 Papac--- He was there, it was warm 6 Sionko----Guy could have sat next to me and had more influence on the ----------game ----------------------------------------2 Fergie--- The Mid mid from Lippstadt played better in the first half and barry ---------struggled to get near him He did better in the second half but if this --------is the man to take us to a higher level i have my doubts. Charlie Adam-- Nothing special, he played.------------5 Nacho-----Is Nacho! Fights for everything and gives 110% but if he comes -----------eye to eye with the keeper he shites himself---6.9 for the fight. Lee McCulloch---To be honest i don't really know how he played in the first ----------------half but he did stand out for me in the second half. ----------------He also scored twice but the first was a blunder from the -----------------keeper. Man of the match for me. Sebo!---------------- What can i say, good goal excellent overhead kick -----------------unlucky not to score, and flipt his top with Nacho in the -----------------second half when he made a brilliant passing movement that ------------------left his defender stone dead and was virtually free on goal ------------------when Nacho picked the ball off his toes. He let out a ------------------scream that you possibly heard in Glasgow. Hutten-----------Looked good when he came on getting into attacking -------------------positions-----------------------6 Shiinie------------Done nothing in my eyes---------2 Fleck-------------Only on for a few minutes but looked like he could be ------------------good,----------------------------4 My total view was that the football was poor but it was a friendly played in hot conditions. Hello, Hello was sung regularly but mostly by guy's with an English accent. There was a little boy called Coisty. The Broadcaster was crap and gave Adam the goals. I loved being a part of the Rangers support again. The waitresses were beautiful.

I hope i can meet you mate. If there is a social club there i will be in there just before the game and at half time. After the game i don't know as it is late and the last time the players went straight to the bus. Not worth waiting for. I have a 2 hour drive back. I am like a wee Wain waiting for his chrissy pressy
-
It means they go on sale 2 hours before kick-off. So you can still make it. I believe Steve will be there and someone was back-packing to the games, i hope i meet them perchance.

Thanks Ally, the first URL didn't work but i have been listening to many songs from the second url and getting in to the mood. I am making a CD for playing in the car to brainwash my son and my mate.

It is a good suggestion but i think there may be copyright problems unless Setanta allow it for advertising purposes. -
Beasley will be electric!!!! He will be heating the bench most of the time.

The club have also signed Austrian midfielder Marco Michetschlager, 17, from Admira Wacker on a six-month loan deal and he will go into Billy Kirkwood's Under-19 squad. I can't see this posted anywhere but why would we loan a 17 year old player if we were not interested in signing him. I guess this is actually a trial for him.

Sunday's weather forecast is 30 degree's Celsius. Good for getting a sweat going just watching.
-
I went to see Rangers in the Advocaat years at an amateur game in Holland. I sat later in the social club waiting for the players to come in and was horrified to see the players hoarded on to a bus and leave. I am still thinking of going on Sunday but i have a mechanic coming to fix my boat on Thursday and it depends on what i have to pay him. IF Possible i will go.
