  1. 30k a week for a former CL winner plus Chelsea and Barcelona and Iceland int'l is not as high a wage as I would have expected.
  2. These things take time. Guys like Davis and McGregor are assets and will expect a reasonable wage rise - but I'd hope they'll be tied down within a week or two.
  3. If things go badly for McCoist, will he be afforded leeway or will it spell the end as it did for PLG? Personally I am excited by the new era, excited by all the potential new signings and the new ownership. Plus continued participation in the CL (hopefully). By the end I trusted Walter and his judgement implicitly, so even if I disagreed with a selection, I always bowed to his superior knowledge. Ally doesn't have that luxury, and if he produces questionable teams, we have no reason to trust his judgement yet. End of the day, he is the manager, and I assume we will all back him completely. I just hope it goes as well as the early promise suggests.
  4. Oh, they're prepared to go up to 1M for a player who cost us £2M? They really are taking the piss.
  5. I've tweeted a little reply to his cynical Cuellar post, suggesting that a Scottish Times hack wouldn't know what Cuellar is being currently paid. We will see if I provoke a reply.
  6. Yes, I've just read the quotes. Truth is we all know he left because he wanted to play for Spain. It was a betrayal, but one I'm willing to forgive as he did it for football reasons. And now wants to come back for football reasons.
  7. Yohan Benalouane plays for Cesena.
  8. Is the second part on at the same time next Tuesday I presume?
  9. I'm staggered that Arsenal would want Bougherra.
  10. A Villa fan I know rates Cuellar as the best CB at Villa. Basically, it's all dependent on their new manager, whoever that will be, and what they will want to do. But I reiterate - he left first chance he got, why is he suddenly so keen to come back? Is it because he knows he'll never win anything or play for Spain?
  11. Phil Jones joining Utd from Blackburn for 17M apparently. It's the going rate for footballers in England these days. I suppose you could argue smaller clubs in the SPL look at Rangers and Celtic and think we're as bad for spending £4M on one player. If you go by correlation, there's a hell of a lot more money in England and they can, conceivably, afford these monstrous amounts.
  12. He hasn't as yet replied to me. I'll try a couple more times...
  13. Do you mean a certain banned member?
  14. We really have lost a truly incredible manager. Ally has an insane amount to live up to.
  15. Every tweet I see from him is pretentious, immature, and comes across like a complete attention seeker desperate to be provocative. And he keeps calling people 'obsessed' about him. I would rather he hadn't featured on the football years last night.
  16. It brought back a lot of memories. A much higher quality show than we're used to seeing on STV. Also interesting to hear Walter admit reluctance to make changes near the end of 9iar and regret over that decision. Only quibble was they didn't really focus on our 92/93 run as much as I'd have liked. They mostly discussed the Battle of Britain with Leeds.
  17. Albeit I'm reading the offer was less than £500k. No chance.
  18. Wonder why Carlos is so keen to come back? Maybe he realises his dream of playing for Spain is never going to happen, and he's out of favour at Villa, plus he's injured. So he might as well go back to where he was utterly loved. And I don't see too many fans against the idea. Also see the Bursaspor interest in Whittaker is stepping up. The fullback positions are weaknesses for me, and while I thought he had a decent season last year, he's never really improved at Ibrox. If a good offer came in, I'd take it and try to find someone a bit better tbh.
  19. He's hardly Hutton. He's done well enough I suppose but if a good offer came in, I think we could replace him with someone better. Bit like Papac on the other side.
  20. I remember Newsnight Scotland a few weeks ago discussing the sectarian issue, and asking if there was really a problem with it. After all, statistically we have a much bigger problem in Scotland with racism, but it never makes the headlines. Because the OF are so big, it's made out that sectarianism is too, but it isn't.

  22. If I am honest, I would like to see him leave with his head held high. He has done wonderfully overally at Ibrox, but we are making big changes and I feel his total departure should be one of them.
  23. I despised Cuellar for the way he left, but I'd take him back in an instant. The best defender we've had for years - he was absolutely imperious for us. Him and Wilson in the middle would be an absolutely great partnership.
  24. Ok, 5 goals in 15 appearances apparently in Turkey. Kinda mediocre really.
