He got rid of half the crap from the old board, is installing something of an overhaul. I am pleased with everything apart from Gordon Smith as Sporting Director or whatever his title is. I honestly don't know what to make of that one given his mess at the SFA.

Thought this was worth its own thread. According to the Sunday Mail, apparently, Bougherra has told them he may play out the final year of his contract so he gets CL football. How do you all feel about this?

I honestly don't hold it against him that he's chosen more money and a better league. But I really cannot stand it when this happens AFTER a player has espoused the virtues of playing for Rangers, how much they want to join, how important CL is to them, how they love our manager and want to play for him. Why can't players just shut up unless they are going to make good on their word?

Sorry old boy, can't agree with a word of that. He was a dithering wreck of a CE and should never have been given the job. I didn't see him handle ANYTHING remotely well while there.

He was absolute agony as CE of the SFA. I honestly do not know what I make of this appointment.

Ignoring the rather undignified manner which he's walked out his last 2 jobs... Eck seems to have the same effect on every club he goes to. He gives them a new lease of life which lasts a season or two, before a downward spiral into a pit of oblivion. It happened with Hibs, us, and now Birmingham. He wasn't at Scotland long enough to go downhill. I can't say I'm terribly fond of the way he conducts himself these days, and I remember how agonising his media performances for us were when things started to go awry. Add to that the fact I really don't like Villa and I hope they go down. But he'll probably have a good first season as he usually does.
