  1. Going by a bit of Blue Heaven I saw, even Adam thinks Blackpool's a small club. They're hardly really in a position to say we are.
  2. My guess is he took £18M out of one of his companies and put it in Lloyds, meaning it is he personally/his company that is out of pocket. Which is not Rangers' FC's problem - as long as he has hard cash to invest in the team too.
  3. I'd agree, but we've made quite a few Premiership signings in the past 5 seasons; Davis, Mendes, Weir, Ehiogu, Beattie. Not all brilliant but EPL calibre. There are players to be had - just a matter of negotiating reasonable wages.
  4. I think Barry's time at Ibrox is a thing of the past. I'd be beyond shocked if he moved. He'll probably be happy to play out his career for Birmingham.
  5. They might let him go for £2M tbh. He isn't wanted there and he's a good player, so they'll want a return on their investment but without blocking the kid's future. I'd take him back as first choice CB alongside AN Other.
  6. I've not seen much of him since he left, but if he's done so well in the Championship, well good right wingers are rare commodities and if he'd be on a free then it's not the worst idea ever. But why is he not part of the Scotland setup?
  7. Some of us are still glad he did.
  8. If he was on, say, £15K, and his play deserved a rise which we couldn't afford, even the biggest dyed in the wool bear would find it hard to turn down a £50k a week offer. Fans on a mortal wage never see things in the same way as footballers who are used to earning thousands weekly.
  9. Yes, he allegedly effectively 'stole' from Rangers, so badly we were run that we didn't realise what he was up to. I'd like him gone, and if guilty of theft, punished by the law.
  10. Lord knows I hate Johnston and am glad to see the back of him, but he claims that he was going to resign 2 weeks after the takeover but Whyte asked him to remain on for another fortnight instead before apparently changing his mind and asking him to resign, which Johnston refused to do on principle and as such was removed. Whyte hasn't confirmed or denied this, and ultimately it doesn't really matter. Johnston was always going, it's just a pity he's taking potshots at Whyte now. Smacks of sour grapes.
  11. Yes, I heard that Adam was overlooked for this. I saw an interesting post on another forum saying that Blackpool's own fans don't love him, we don't really love him, and it seems the only ones who think Adam is worth £10M+ is the media.
  12. Their city rivals Villa have also released a bunch of players including Reo Coker, Pires and Carew. There are definitely players, EPL quality players, to pick up.
  13. Alexsandr Hleb, Matt Derbyshire, Obafemi Martins, David Bentley Seb Larsson, Kevin Phillips, Lee Bowyer, Maik Taylor, Martin Jiranek, Marcus & Stuart Parnaby. All apparently out of contract and now available. In a fantasy land I'd take Hleb, Martins, Bentley, Larsson and maybe Bowyer. Are any of them feasible?
  14. I've heard he's beyond keen to come to us. I don't know much about him other than he seems to be on the fringes of the Wales team, and looks a bit odd. Is he actually any good?
  15. We've already got quite a few inadequate youth players. Hope these guys are a little better.
  16. A completely late reply to this thread. I am undecided on Miller possibly coming back. On one hand he was absolutely fantastic for us and winning the GB after only half a season gives some idea of his form, albeit he was absolutely mince in the CL. One the other hand he showed zero loyalty and left to get more money. Now, it's true that what we offered was clearly inadequate, and we couldn't afford any more, so he was arguably left with no option. A fit and fully up and running Miller Jelavic partnership could be absolutely electric, or might not work on any level. This is one rambling inconsistent mess of a post. Like I say, I can't decide.
  17. I know we've only signed two youth players, but seeing all this speculation is much more exciting than previous seasons when the lack of transfer targets was deafening by its silence. We're not going to get linked to Messi so let us accept we're in a financially stable position, in a shitty league, but who have the carrot of CL to tempt players with and we might pick up a few £2M level players. Plus perhaps a gem or two here and there.
  18. We'd have been in no position to keep him had this issue arisen prior to take over, but we can afford to give him either the same wages again or a reasonable rise. While he had an average season, the split showed what he's all about. Absolutely one to hold onto, plenty international and CL experience and the type of player we need to build this club around.
  19. One to keep. Clearly happy here and hasn't really ever been linked with a move away.
  20. Got bored after 31. Basically it's name every Man Utd player since 1991 bar Giggs!
  21. ignore this post.
  22. Johnston is really taking potshots at Whyte in the press now.
  23. You cannot have it both ways. You don't want today's information public, but you want questions answered? I feel your stance is really contradictory tbh.
  24. I don't think the club can win either way. If it doesn't tell us what's going on, we moan we're being kept in the dark. If it does, we complain of dirty laundry being aired. I don't really see how any of this could have been done without informing the supporters anyway. We'd have asked why Bain was being suspended, why Johnston had been removed instead of resigned. Instead I'm seeing a hard core on this forum who seem displeased with this new regime and are starting to lean towards preferring the old one. That's the way it looks to me.
  25. I don't see this as negative, I see this as winds of change.
