Aye, great minds and all that. I thought he was absolutely terrific and it was plain to see why the French almost forced Dominech to pick him.
-
Player of the tournament would have to be Cannavaro with honourable mentions to Frings, Lahm, Miguel, Ribery, and Zidane. I'd personally put in Tevez too but he didn't get enough playing time. Disappointments would be for me: Ballack, Ibrahimovic, Toni, Pauletta (as usual), and, yes, Riquelme. He wasn't awful, but he didn't shine. EDIT: Can't believe I left out Ronaldinho and Adriano.
-
Well he was runner up in young player so it's not that a ridiculous a suggestion.
-
Oh he's gonna cost them a pretty penny through wages, around about £100k a week I think.
-
Understood. It was just your final sentence which led me to think you were misconstruing what I was saying as an unnecessary argument and that I was being a nuisance, that's all. I don't mind opposing viewpoints - good rational debate is all about that.
-
You seem to be agreeing with what I'm saying here. I don't dispute he's cheating. I'm just saying he's a very, very good player as well.
-
Why do I detect some slight hostility here?
-
Chelsea got him for free Gersfem
-
He needs to clean up his act, no question. I just hope he does and the boo boys get off his back.
-
A tad harsh? So are you disputing my comment that he's talented? When he plays the game in the right spirit, he's world class. Absolutely terrific against France.
-
I don't agree everything Germany did went through him. It's curious that their best 2 attacking performances (Costa Rica and Portugal) didn't feature him. Also curious that the BBC analysed his passing against Argentina and it was really poor.
-
Raul has always been a very talented goal scorer for Real Madrid and anyone who thinks otherwise is ignoring his record. He doesn't quite do it for Spain though I admit, but his 'Golden Boy and Untouchable' for Real does his ability for club a real disservice.
-
He was ok, which is nothing more than mediocre, reasonable, average... He just doesn't light up matches the way a player of his reputation should. He's supposed to be the pinnacle of German football, an iconic player. He doesn't come close imo. And as for Zlatan, well his ass is unable to cash the cheques his great gob comes up with. He thinks he's brilliant. During the WC he was anything but. I'd be fine with his arrogance if he could show it on the pitch. But he doesn't.
-
2 players... Money no object... Cannavaro and Tevez.
-
Thing is, he's not the only one guilty of cheating. Henry's twice pretended to be hit in the head this WC and I personally consider feigning injury to get a fellow pro sent off worse than diving for a foul or penalty. But will Henry get booed tomorrow? Not a chance in hell.

I didn't actually realise Sol had left Arsenal, I thought this was a purely speculative thread. I really really rate the player, and although we have NO chance of signing him, if we got him it would make my summer, let me tell you.
-
He has no future in England now that England are blaming him for their own demise. Sooner he's out the better.
-
Michael Ballack and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
-
I don't dispute he has a bad reputation. But he was MOTM against France even despite the jeers. The boy is very, very talented.
-
He is a diver. It is out of order. But he's just such a great player that I still lik him.
-
He's a wee bit mental but I still think he's being slightly harshly treated. He didn't get Rooney sent off, Rooney got Rooney sent off. And why on earth are France and Germany fans booing a Portuguese player after an incident against England? Bizarre.
-
I supported Portugal tonight, but I didn't begrudge Germany their 3rd place.
-
I rate him very highly indeed. We would have absolutely zero chance of signing him - plus his wage demands would be astronomical.
-
It's so difficult to choose that it's actually impossible, and I say both goals are joint top.
-
Cannavaro's performance against Germany was truly one of the all time greats.
