I know you're trying to dismiss my clearly wildly inaccurate post, but look at what you said again. You said the value of a player is defined by the buying club, not the selling club. THEN you said it was defined by the buying club offering money, the selling club increasing the price, then the buying club accepting the new price. Do you see how you have totally contradicted yourself here?

The one credibility I will give this 'in'credible story is that it's saying Whyte is going to hand the money over from now on, justifying the generally shite offers we've been making till now. But I just cannot swallow us having �£15M to play with. That said, Ally did say we're working on 7 players at the moment, so maybe the incredible is indeed credible. I want to believe.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight, so Whittaker is worth the �£300k Bursaspor offered? Miller is worth the �£400k Bursaspor paid? By your logic, Spurs would have sold Modric for �£22M to Chelsea because Chelsea decided that's his value. I don't think you put a lot of thought into your post.

I honestly think the esteem you're holding him in already is completely over the top. And you're not alone. That's why I said he should be used carefully as a sub. Yes, there is a chance that he could thrive if thrown straight into the lion's den, but there is much more chance that the pressure of first team selection will be too much for a young player who's inexperienced at that level. Basically, you seem to be jumping in at the deep end with this guy without really a lot of basis.

IF we had �£18M to spend we'd have spent more than �£500k already in this window. I also don't think we'd only have offered �£300k for Wallace and �£400k for Rodriguez if we had more convincing sums to spend.

And if he doesn't do very well we can't get anyone else in till January. I don't like putting pressure on young players who have barely played 2 matches. He should be eased in as a sub in competitive games in a careful manner, rather than having to take on the responsibility of performing because we decided to save money and put expectation on him.

Hemmings looks promising, but it's absurdly knee jerk to jump to the conclusion that we don't need to bring in any other strikers, be it Miller, Goodwillie or anyone else on the basis of a couple of pre-season performances. Or indeed competitive performances.

Whenever it was penned, this is fucking depressing news. I actually yelled 'aw naw' when I read the headline. I know some guys on here will be wanking themselves silly over this story, but I'm not. But like I said elsewhere, I feel there's a Barry Ferguson-esque immunity now about Weir. That management feel 'obliged' to select him, that they felt obliged to offer him a new deal, and that somehow the rules of selection don't really apply to him. For as long as he wants to continue, he will be accommodated. And I feel the comments about not being guaranteed a starting slot and competition being rife were made just to appease fans who don't want him playing any more. He'll feature in every fucking match he's available for.

I do feel a little better after this match - first half sounded pretty shocking but we really sorted it out in the second. Let's hope this is the kick start we needed.

So we haven't made contact with Bursaspor about Miller, we are waiting to hear from Cuellar, Lafferty's staying, and Espanyol are ignoring us.

At his age he's done it all tbh. This appears to be a move purely based on being closer to his family. There's nothing really left for him to realistically achieve in football. Let's face it, he ain't winning the EPL or CL any time soon.
