    We have one marquee striker. We don't have a second. Previously we had Boyd Miller then Miller Jelavic. Now we just have Jelavic and a bunch of rotatable players alongside him. Admittedly there's Naismith but he'll most likely be mostly a winger again.

    Oh yeah, another rumour flying around that a midfielder is set to sign today. The name Gennaro Gattuso has been mentioned. I believe this rumour to be another load of hokum.

    Because we're going into the CL with a rookie manager, any draw will be a tough one. Ally just isn't experienced yet and may find that level of competition a bit too hard. But we'll see.

    Rangers have agreed a fee with Aston Villa for Carlos Cuellar, who will now decide whether to return to Ibrox. "We're examining what's best for Carlos. He likes the idea of returning," said his agent on Sunday. I'm clinging onto that small quote. Please Carlos, like it enough to do it.

    After the initially agonising results of preseason and the almost complete lack of new signings, I felt Europe was almost a dead rubber. But on second thoughts, given the quality of opposition we need to negotiate to get into the group stage, we should at least manage 10 matches in the CL. ANYTHING beyond that is a bonus. I'd have had more expectations had we made more signings and we weren't going into it with a rookie manager.

    When Walter was in charge, Ally was the assistant and iirc, Kenny was the first team coach or something along these lines. Is it Durrant or McDowall who's been promoted now to assistant manager? Personally I'd much rather have had Ray Wilkins than either of them, but hey.
