Transfer Rumours and Deals - Winter Window 2016/17
JFK-1 replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
The business this window is good enough to secure the Euro spot we need. The Summer window is always a better time to conduct business with more contracts expiring around that time and clubs more willing to sell. A win tonight should more or less virtually guarantee a Euro spot. -
I was there after purchasing a ticket outside the stadium. One of those days. Threw everything at them and the ball just wouldn't go in the net. A horrendous mistake by Dave McPherson let them in and the look Souness gave him could have melted plastic. Think that was actually the end of the road for McPherson who was shipped out to Hearts soon after.

Red cards aside it was a decent away win after an inconsistent start in which we were all far more apprehensive about playing away at any ground. Give us a repeat on Wednesday and we're well on our way to a Euro spot with a chance at some much needed finance. -

The boy has more than a decade and a half ahead of him to make the big money. Hopefully he has wise counsel advising him that another 5 years or so at Rangers is his best option. Wise counsel wouldn't be some arsehole of an agent. -

Obviously second is the objective at this stage but the major priority is top 3 and we're now sitting 11 points clear of the competition for a top 3 spot. I say well done the manager for guiding what was an initially misfiring team to such a comfortable cushion after all the wailing from day one from without and within about being top 6 at best. The two new guys look like useful acquisitions even before they get up to top speed. I'm now more or less taking it for granted that we're going to get a minimum top 3 with the chance at the Euro league it brings and hoping preparations for getting us into that Euro league and a minimum £8 to £10 million boost are already in process. Absolutely must get that Euro league run money which will leave those below us trailing in our wake which all on it's own would make the competition for the league a far closer affair. I don't think we could realistically have expected any better than the manager has delivered given the catastrophe of the previous 4 years and the still existing hurdles in our way. In my view the manager has delivered despite the fact he himself had to go through somewhat of a learning curve this season along with a lot of other unforeseen hassle. It might be argued that he's more important for the future of the club right now than any player in the squad is. He's an intelligent man and I don't see how we could get any better than him right now so i'm also hoping moves are taking place to secure his services beyond his current contract. -

So is McGhee saying that once O'Halloran walked his team were less likely to win? Is he suggesting we are a better team with 10 men? And what's the difference between both teams having 11 men or both having 10 men? Methinks he just opens the orifice and let's flow before the brain is in gear. -
My sympathies to his family. We seem to be going through this every other week or so recently.

I would rather we were keeping Gilks but if he wants to go that's that and I too would be looking to make a profit from the deal. I don't know anything about the qualities of Jak Alnwick but at the same time the chances of him having to replace Wes through injury or suspension would appear to be quite slim. Even Gilks only got an occasional cup game probably largely in an attempt to keep him happy. Wondering if Alnwick thinks he can actually displace Wes or has simply been offered a much better deal than he currently has and is happy to take it along with the chance to be at a high profile club. -

If Motherwell actually try to play this time instead of just putting 10 men at the back we may score more. Wont be holding my breath waiting for that to happen though. It always amuses me that their fans and those of other teams are forever babbling about how 'shite' Rangers are while they lie far below us in the league and their managers don't seem to have got the message as they park the bus against this 'shite' team. -
I don't watch US sports personalities being interviewed. In fact I don't watch US sports at all. A game called football in which a foot rarely ever touches the ball and which takes around 4 hours to play with 11 minutes of actual action in it isn't my cup of tea.
-
Ever seen Garner being interviewed? It's like pulling teeth trying to get something out of him. Looks totally uncomfortable with the whole thing which I expect is why he is rarely seen doing what Waghorn is doing there. With Joe it's generally a quick couple of minutes post match and even that's an ordeal.
-
And maybe even Motherwell against us the year before. My dream scenario would be the hubz in the play offs and meeting Hamilton AGAIN and being beaten again. How sweet their tears would be.
-
Laughing my socks off. They win a cup for the first time in a century now it's "retaining" it. Though I suppose it amuses me that he builds up their support to expect such unrealistic outcomes then they're brought crashing back to reality. I hope they beat Hearts and we pull them at Ibrox to dish out a real thumping. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/hibs-boss-neil-lennon-targets-9655171

I don't know whether to take it as a compliment that they're so obsessed with our team or be concerned about the mental state of a segment of Scottish society. If this is what it's like when they're in a purple patch and we're relatively behind what's the screaming going to be like when they're put back in their place?

The league is gone so for now i'm content to be be better than the rest and from day one despite some contrary results and incoinsistency I always believed we were. Two or three good signings would put us out of sight of the rest and I trust in this Rangers minded board to do all they can in that direction. Euro money is an absolute must to put us streets ahead of the rest which also closes the gap above us and even now we all seem to agree the gap isn't so great as some would like to claim it is. -
I would guess Morton are more than happy with it.
-
A mere 20 months ago the same team were gubbing us 6-1 on aggregate. Just 2 weeks after that humiliation Warburton took over, the revolution began and now here we are sitting second in the SPL and looking good for a return to Europe at the first attempt. We're on track despite all the hurdles being thrown in our way from the likes of Ashley who is depriving us of millions gifted to him by a criminal clique.
-
It's going to take at least decade to recover from the recent events which isn't to say we can't be successful in that time. We can but this isn't something anyone could press a reset button on and instantly recover from. The manager has done everything we could have realistically expected of him at this stage. He got us back into the SPL at his first attempt and will likely get us into Europe at the first attempt.
-
Fantastic header for the first and the second was no cut and dried tap in either. The goalie did a good job of trying to narrow the angles and he had a relatively small target area to put that into. I would choose Miller to be in that situation than any other player in the squad.
-
McGhee has to say something along those lines to placate the simple minds among their support but the reality is they largely did nothing but employ a park the bus strategy devised to be anti football. Even their support were hoping for at best to snatch a draw with their anti football strategy and take it to a replay at their own dump. Anyone who thinks that strategy truly merits any better than a narrow loss is either as simple minded as some of the support or being deceitful. Which if those two McGhee is I wont speculate on. It wasn't a totally convincing display by all accounts but the better team won. If they weren't the better team he wouldn't have come there with that strategy in the first place would he. The best he can say if he were honest is that they almost got lucky but their luck ran out in the last ten minutes. Outplaying us and losing in the last ten minutes would be a career disappointment. Luck running out is not.
-
I have said this before in a flippant manner that maybe we should give them all a goal of a start to create some urgency. It's not the first time this season we have gone at them and scored after falling behind.
-
I had no dislike for them either until that play off debacle then the incident with the ass throwing the ball away from Wallace clinched it. As for them i'm baffled as to why they would hate us. What have we ever done to them aside from beat them? This is a quote from their forum just today.
