  1. Granted I'm only applying to Sports Science or Strength & Conditioning jobs but in my experience of elite sport sometimes you don't even get that and rarely get longer. And then you are lucky if you get a full week to prepare for interview. Probably different at that end of the food chain though.
  2. Some merit in that last point Waltersgotstyle that I hadn't thought of before. Would maybe be a bit like when the 5-nations expanded to 6. Year by year Italy improved and became more competitive. Even if they are routinely in the bottom two they dont disgrace themselves like people may have thought and have achieved victories against most teams (barring England? who they have run close on a couple of occasions). It wouldnt happen overnight but these lesser teams who would probably have been getting spanked off us and them would become as "competitive" as the other dross at the foot of the SPL.
  3. If a good CV is the basis on which previous holders of the post were appointed then perhaps we need to try a new tact.
  4. Somehow the whole seems less than the sum if it's parts.
  5. I think it is quite clear that the post refers to the time since we started t the bottom. On the field at least we are undoubtedly stronger than last year.
  6. Ok I see where you are coming from and largely agree. Can't agree Black should be rotated out for Peralta just for the sake of rotation itself. Black has surprisingly been one of our key performers this season even if he has had the odd bad ame. We don't really know whether Peralta is a right mid, right back or centre mid. What we do know is that he has been poor to fair in terms of average fan ratings whilst you would get almost unanimous agreement that Black has been at least good at centre mid. Can't justify throwing a poor right mid in for a good centre mid just because we hope the right mid may perform better there.

Rangers fans. We can complain about everything!
  8. I think Little should be in the team but are you advocating dropping Black?
  9. Hard to judge them on sat night due to so many first choice players missing out. But ever since arsenal stopped winning trophies they have seemed to have a mental fragility and an inability to win the bg games when it really matters. Maybe their excellent early run this year will give them greater self confidence. Winning after Arteta was sent off last weekend looked like they may have developed greater confidence and mental toughness. Hopefully a largely reserve team loss in a minor competition won't affect them.

The Scottish media seem to have more interest in things ROI related so would surely be well up for supporting this.
  11. I agree that players like Templeton who are rumoured to be unhappy need to do the business when they get a chance but that was not the game for anyone to look good. First half Peralta was atrocious. Mohsni was the worst i've seen him - simple passes into touch, hashed clearances, rash challenges (almost kicked a guy in the nuts). Clark and Daly were anonymous but mostly due to no service. Black and Law looked the least assured i'd seen them. Thats just off the top of my head. I dont mean to single anyone out but they were the standout issues to me. Foster was typically poor too. I could do this to every player on the park tonight. So for Templeton to come and get 25 or 30 minutes or whatever it was, well it was unlikely he'd be able to do much by himself. Unfortunately for him it just means he'll continue to be benched as he didn't give the manager a decision to make by having a more influential performance. Typical of our spell in the lower divisions. Crap game, played awful. Could have scored 6. Normally i'm one to take the positives but I struggled with that tonight. We hit the bar 3 times, Daly missed a sitter, stone well pen turned down, Law had one off the line and then we had 3 or 4 crosses flash across their goal that just never quite fell to a blue shirt. On another day we would have scored 6. The weekend was symptomatic of the realities of Scottish football for us as well. First half at the weekend wasn't too dissimilar to today in that it was fairly dull, uninspired 0-0 but we were never likely to do anything other than win. Start of the 2nd half they score an own goal, a few minutes later Daly scores a header and in the blink of an eye its game over. Yet really the football was no better or exciting than the first half. Still I do just love to see my team winning. Maybe looking forward to getting a top league team in the cup to give us a bit of excitement back to the games though. The pressure of thinking we might lose, that the opposition provide a challenge and that we hate all those cunts and desperately want to be victorious.
  12. Thanks . Is being shown online on BBC website too but I assume will still be Gaelic mumbo jumbo.
  13. Kinda to be expected when 18months ago we started a pre-season with 6 players.
  14. I can understand people saying they disagree with tactics, formation etc but not pretending to not see what is going on each week. "Preferred" tactics etc vary for all managers and teams across a season but we can all se the managers current preferred selections.
  15. Ah, I misunderstood you I think and largely agree.
  16. The idea that we would struggle for top 6 in the SPFL is farcical. Most our players have either played in the SPFL for a top 6 team and acquitted themselves well, or shown themselves to be better still than that standard. Bell would start for most teams in Scotland. Wallace is probably the best left back in Scotland. Mohnsi hasn't played in the top flight here but has played Championship or league 1 down South and everyone routinely states how these leagues are far stronger than our own. He was courted bu the likes of WHam and QPR (I think) and would most likely start for most teams in Scotland. Jig would start for most SPFL teams. Our right back options aren't great but Foster has captained Aberdeen who sit top 6 and I dont think most teams in that league would knock him back. Law and Black were in the top few performers for "big" SPL teams. McLeod is a star though maybe not a left mid. Right mid like right back we're not exceptionally strong but again most other clubs in that division would likely take our options. Daly was a key man for DUtd in the top league. Little was banging in goals in the SPL when we were still there. Guys like Templeton and Shiels on the bench were also star performers in that league. We probably still have the strongest squad outwith them. Its a joke to say we would struggle to be top 6.
  17. I don't think your point is to knock PLG but I wouldn't be holding him up as an example of anything other than piss poor management (remember man management is an enormous part of the role and his was honking).
  18. The only reason it "harms" commercial opportunities ( if indeed it does) and Scottish football's reputation outside our own borders is because Timmy and our media have turned a molehill into a mountain. Tiny problem best ignored not inflated and exaggerated.
  19. Ignoring all the pc stuff and whether or not we should be singing it you couldn't beat 50,000 belting out TBB.
