Agree to an extent Darthter. But surely requires a compliant media once more. Celtic state Boruc, Brown, McGeady etc are 10mil plus and the press just repeat it instead of mocking them. Yet would happily value superior players at half that for us. Also are other clubs managers, chairmen and scouts that easily duped?

Was reading elsewhere where a Bear suggested only Naismith had been a relative "success" of the players who jumped ship when the old company was liquidated. Now, dont read this wrong i'm not attempting to say they are world beaters but actually there are a few players holding their own in the premiership are there not? Naismith gets semi regular football for a decent Everton team. McGregor is performing well at Hull prior to injury. Whittaker has played in half of Norwich'e league games this year and a couple of league cup matches. Davis is captain at Southampton. Before people start jumping off the deep end and saying this player or that player is crap or e.g. Whittaker hasn't played in the other half of their league games bear in mind that it still clearly shows that he must be a better player than he is given credit for by even our own fans, opposition fans in Scotland and our media. I'm pretty sure Whittaker's goal was typical of his time in Scotland beating 2 or 3 men with a driving run before finishing well from at least 12 yards. A display of pace, athleticism and agility. Those players were part of an era of Rangers football where we competed with Celtic on a much smaller budget yet these players delivered 3iar. Yet it is still always Celtic players who get championed for £5m, £10m,£15m pound moves. Yet I can think of even fewer Celtic players from the last 4-5 years who have gone on to be successful in a better league. Maybe McGeady (don't watch much Russian football) and perhaps Wanyama will show himself to have quality in England? Hooper has struggled for goals thus far. 3iar, more of our players being competitive in tougher leagues. Yet you rarely here of our players being touted for ridiculous sums (not convinced McGeady or Wanyama went for their reputed fees). Just why are our players generally held in less high regard in Scotland even when we are more successful or our players move on to England etc and are more competitive (if not necessarily more successful) then former Celtic players down there. Does this tactic of having their media luvvies bumming up their players values really bring them more cash when it comes time to sell?

Recent evidence suggests quite the opposite in Scotland. Look at the perma-offended. So little gets said against them compared to what should because they complain like fuck. From fan to the boardroom.

I'd rather drop a few points here and there then pay Miller a few grand a week for the next 2-3 years. We cant complain about a lack of forward thinking on one hand then welcome Miller as a stop gap on the other. Just too old.

RANGERS’ new chief exec is a former bigwig at English Premier League giants Manchester City, The Scottish Sun can reveal. Graham Wallace was chief operating officer at the 2012 champions until March. City sources said the 52-year-old Scot, will be unveiled by Gers next week after shaking hands on the deal with chairman David Somers last Wednesday. A source said: “There was a huge response to the advert for a chief executive but Wallace’s credentials blew away all the competition.” Chartered accountant Wallace, from Dumfries, saw off rivals including Dundee chief exec Scot Gardiner, who was also interviewed. He held top finance posts at a string of entertainment giants including MTV Networks Europe, Viacom, Nickelodeon, and IMG Media. Wallace, who lives in Buckinghamshire, was chief financial officer at Man City from 2009 to November 2010, then chief operating officer. He stepped down after the arrival of new chief executive Ferran Soriano, and has been doing consultancy work in the City of London since. The City source said: “He was waiting for the next top job and this is it. His skills and experience will help build Rangers’ global reach.” Wallace’s appointment is part of the current Ibrox regime’s attempt to shore up the board before a shareholders vote on who runs the club at Rangers’ AGM next month. Investment banker Norman Crighton, 47, was announced as a director yesterday.

Not even sure who Michael Hector is tbh. Young lad who seems to have been on loan to about 12 different lower league teams in England. Doesn't preclude him from being a good player of course. But I doubt it. Russel Anderson was a decent centre back in SPL terms before he went to England and largely flopped. -

Was on the BBC Website and noticed a headline for one story about WIllo Flood being unavailable for upcoming games for Aberdeen and it brought this thread back into my mind. Before this weekend and their defeat to Hearts, Aberdeen were sitting second. As I am not trying to say that we are currently better than Celtic, but that we are more than a match for the rest then comparing our teams to possibly the second best team in the SPL seems fair. Against Hearts, Aberdeen lined up: Now granted I don't know exactly how they lined up. I cant find out from twitter, the BBC website or the Aberdeen website. Apparently the four defenders listed are all centrebacks (must be copying Walter and Ally ). And they have 3 midfielders and two wingers listed in addition to the forward Zola. They may well have played 4-5-1 but at home to a struggling Hearts side I doubt it and probably one of McGinn or Pawlett played upfront with Zola. Looking at the above as among the best of the rest of what that division has to offer are we really unable to compete with that already? I think they would bite our hands off for McCulloch, Mohsni, Wallace, Law, Black, Daly. I haven't seen Langfield since we were last in the topflight but he was a reasonable keeper back then and we were reportedly interested in him. Still i'm happy with Bell who is at least as good yet younger. Our right back position needs improving but I would be surprised if their centre back playing on the right is any better than Faure. Our wide midfield positions also need seriously looking at. Templeton could come good on one flank but I will never be really comfortable with Peralta at right mid. Clark showed signs of improvement this weekend and is getting in good positions. When he gets off the mark again he could really fly. I think the spine of our team is easily better than what Aberdeen or even ICT can field and that we are 3 players from being clearly superior in every position. I cannot fathom the mindset that says we should fear playing these teams. -

Clark not looking like a guy who scored 40 last year. Incredibly unlucky but I think sometimes h just needs to leather it. A few shots placed on goal as he lacks confidence to put hs foot through it?

Bit frustrating to once again be going in 0-0 at HT. I think it would be less frustrating today had it not been a continuation of the norm in that respect. A bit groundhog day. The difference today is with better finishing we could be 4 or 5 nil up. Daly, Clark (2) and Wallace have all had decent chances where they could or should have done better. On its own todays performance is not a big issue. But as a continuation of our inability to take advantage of dominating a first half it is a bit of an annoyance. We haven't been poor. Nor have we ever looked like conceding. But we could still be doing better.

Only just realised Roma drew last weekend and so Rangers are the only team in Europe with a 100% league record. A little while back Barca and Atletico Madrid boasted the same record until a draw and a defeat respectively. Sky sports had a wee graphic up showing the 4 clubs records a number of weeks ago but now it is just us. Granted it doesn't really mean shit but just nice to see that we are the only team maintaining that run. Not comparing the achievements in any way.
