  1. I will agree that Bougherra would be the biggest miss of all. I agree with Craig's assessment that we would be badly struggling without him. I would then contend that Boyd would be the next biggest miss. If Mendes went, we would have Davis, Thommo and Edu for CM. Same if Davis went. In fact we've shown an ability to cope somewhat without most of them. Who would score Boyd's goals if he went. Sure Miller and Lafferty might get a few more each, but I don't think we'd make up the shortfall in the goals for column and hence drop more silly points. Of course selling one player does not mean we will definitely not win the title. But selling one of our key men, particularly with such a small squad, would make it a hell of a lot more difficult.
  2. Good point but Rothen comes with a far higher pedigree than Djordjic. Though his reputation does seem to have fallen in the last few years. Hopefully he'll recapture his best form. Certainly a far bigger name the mhankies have attracted recently.
  3. Sounds promising. Cole is a name i've noticed in a while. What happened to Elfideldo, Frankie?
  4. Aye, prob true.
  5. No one is saying that. You're just getting all upset because its Boyd. There are about 4 or 5 players who if we lost (and we wont replace them) it makes it infinitely more difficult to win the title and hands the advantage to Celtic. Guys like Boyd, Bougherra and Davis are integral to our title bid. Losing any one of them weakens us and hence weakens our title challenge.
  6. It's not that we definitely cant win it if we sell him, but it's a damn site less likely.
  7. Has the deal gone through yet then?
  8. Fuck off Martin O'Neil.
  9. Saw that last night. Shocker.
  10. Whenever Beasley is mentioned I always remember that you were not keen from the outset and that obviously you probably get to see more dutch football than your average British fan.
  11. I've read it actually closes at 5pm tomorrow. Was supposed to be tonight but extended because of bank holiday down here.
  12. You may be right Shroomz. May.
  13. I really hope some of the English press pick this up and hammer them for it.
  14. I pretty much agree with that.
  15. Gotta say I agree with Shroomz here. Short term selling Boyd now makes godo financial sense to the club (not me) and Smith obviously thinks, of our few saleable assets, he can do without Boyd. Should he stay this window, he has no value to the club in forthcoming transfer windows unless we extend his contract.
  16. That's the key to it all for me. Integrity, that's the word I should have used. How can they justify commenting on Eduardo but not McGeady.
  17. What else should I have said?
  18. Reply: Gordon's not having fun anymore. All joking aside though, clealry they are not that arsed about stamping out cheating and yet again people are afraid to or refuse to speak out against Celtic.
  19. Aye, his frustration and annoyance at me was very evident in the last one. I had been trying not to be too offensive as well to ensure a response. Think he's had enough though. No response as of yet. That might be it.
  20. Why was his last response reminiscent of a biased journo? "We'll discuss issues at length unless it's Celtic who are in the wrong". Decided to try and avoid the bait of getting into an Old Firm tit for tat argument, at least I tried.
  21. 1. Yes. Last night though. Suffering today.
  22. Whether it was football or business reasons the point still stands. They are happy for Boyd to go.
  23. Edit: Noticed another error I made in editing my email. I really should proof-read these shouldn't I?
  24. You're not the only one Durrant. Unfortunately the manager and the board don't seem to share your views.
  25. I had thought about the first point you made but could not quite think how best to word it so thanks for that. Dunno how I didn't pick up on the Lafferty point! Double standards surely. We'd be incredibly paranoid if a former Celtic player made these same comments in Smith's position. Seems to me, as Frankie, said he's hiding behind the "laws". Though that does not seem to get in th way at other times?
