Good good. Strange that as the games get more exciting and the more important there's less interest in doing the previews.

Ps. Any errors feel free to point out. Sure there are, the numbers on the screen all blend into each other after a while.

What does this all tell us? The PFAPOTY award goes to a player from the league winners 70% of the time. However, more often (83.3%) when Celtic win the league and less often if Rangers win the league (25-50%). The SWPOTY award goes to a player from the league winners 60% of the time. More often if Celtic win the league (66.7%) and less often when Rangers win the league (50%). The SWMOTY comes from the league winners 80% of the time. More often when Celtic win the league (83.3%) and less often when Rangers win the league (75%). (The above points suggest we get a fairer ride from the press than the PFA). Rangers have been given the SWMOTY and SWPOTY once each (16.67%) when Celtic won the league. Both were last year and due to us winning both cups, reaching the UEFA final and losing the league on the final day and was some turnaround from what the squad Smith had inherited had achieved. When we win the league the SWPOTY award is equally likely to be given to a Celtic player as a Rangers player. The reverse is not true. (50:50 compared to 83.33:16.67). When we win the league Celtic are more likely to win the PFAPOTY. (25-50% compared to 75%). The reverse is not true (Celtic win the league and PFAPOTY 83.33% of the time). When Rangers have won awards but not the league it has been due to last year's unprecedented (apologies for the repetition) quadruple attempt and Amoruso winning 1 PFAPOTY award. Celtic have won numerous SWOPOTY and PFAPOTY awards when we have won trebles and doubles, with no other outstanding achievements by the Celtic squad. (Great waste of a bank holiday , was going to do some analysis for the earlier post but was being lazy.)

Good news. Hopefully no Dailly next week.
-
I meant not play 4-5-1 though, certianly don't want Hemdani playing either. :box:
-
McCulloch and Dailly will both be ahead of Brahim for that role, hopefully Walter will suprise us.

Been procrastinating and wasting time again. Some facts for your edification: - Of the ten completed seasons of the SPL in the current format, Celtic have won 6 titles. Rangers 4. -Each year the football writer’s manager’s award has gone to the league winning manager, except in 04/05 when Rangers won the league and Mowbray got the award and last year when Smith got it for our remarkable quadruple attempt. -The football writer’s award has gone to a Celtic player 6 times and Rangers 3 times (similar to the number of times each has won the league. However, twice a Celtic player has won the award when we won the league (on one occasion a treble! The other a double). Cuellar got it last year when Celtic won the league and only the league, largely due to our attempts to win 4 trophies. They also gave it to Gordon when Celtic won the league in 05/06. -The PFA player’s award has gone to Celtic 8 times!!!!!!!! (Inc. one shared). Rangers have won it a mere twice plus one shared. Considering the award winners often come from the league winners this seems odd. When we won a treble in 98/99, Larsson won the award. When we completed the double the following year, (winning the league by 21 points) Viduka won the award. In 01/02, Celtic won the league, but we won the double and Amoruso scooped their award. When we last won the league (+ League Cup) Ricksen shared the award with Hartson. The 6 seasons Celtic won the title they got the PFA players award 5 times. The four times we have won the league a Ranger has taken the award once with one shared. Disclaimer: Not complaining, just pointing out what a farce they are.

I remember watching Frings and Ballack as a central pair for Germany in recent years and they had the balance perfect. Whilst Ballack was the one who got forward more with Frings holding, when one went forward the other was able to sit in and cover. So i'm not sure you can blame Fergie fully. Midfield players should be able to contribute to the attack and the defence. Unless of course the managers tactics dictate one must only sit in, say like the Makelele role at Chelsea. I'm not advocating a return for Fergie. Just pointing out a more fluent midfield where the (usually) 2 central players can read the game well and cover each other would be more effective.

Surely must be a taker for the Old-Firm? I'm on a slef (and Criag) imposed ban from doing those games as I'm a jinx.
-
Just a result of the number of players missing through injury/suspension. Wont be in the squad next week.
-
You know what, i'm not worried about Edu. I'm worried about the senior players playing beside him; Davis, Mendes and whoever plays on the left. He's the only midfielder I'm entirely comfortable about playing.

Rangers v Hearts ââ?¬â?? Match Report And Players Ratings
Super_Ally replied to CammyF's topic in Rangers Chat
Agree with Jonny. Showed pace and direct running but a lack of end product. On another day he could have really hurt us though. Interesting point about Boyd's recent goals. Hadn't realised they had come mostly when Velicka had gone off. Feel like i'm in some parallel universe where Boyd has turned provider for Velicka, assisted 3 of his 4 goals. -
Last year's decision to give it to McGeady over Cuellar is the biggest mistake of these awards in recent memory. Quite simply dumfounding.
-
Velicka 6 starts, 2 sub appearances. 5 goals. In the 8 games Velicka has been involved in we have won 8. 100% win record.
-
MOTY Strachan POTY Brown YPOTY McCarthy GoalOTY Mendes As much as we slag our "impartial" press they usually make a better fist of this than the players. Sports Writers picked Cuellar last time, while the players picked McGeady.

Been reading through a thread with some comprehensive Boyd stats elsewhere and came across an interesting one.

Rangers v Hearts ââ?¬â?? Match Report And Players Ratings
Super_Ally replied to CammyF's topic in Rangers Chat
Don't disagree too much with your ratings. Had Boyd up there with Edu as the top performers though. Boyd didn't just play the ball back into the danger zone, he picked out Velicak for his goal. Dailly comfortably the worst player on show. For the second week in a row. Hope Papac is back next week. -
Update from the first post: 4 games in the last 4 for Velicka. 6 in 6 for Boyd. 8 in the 4 they have started as a pair. Miller looking effective from the bench. Scored as a sub the other week, assist for the clincher today. Lafferty making his return today. The forwards are all hitting form and fitness at the right time. Boyd and Velicka might not be pretty to watch at times. They might not show much in the way of pace and ability. But they don't half win you games.
-
Yes they were.

Read your post, then check what I "quoted".

Aye as appalling as newcastle are, Hull might yet prove their saviours. Whichever one stays up will be very lucky. Middlesborough still in the mix too I guess.
-
Fixed that for you.

Switched to Liverpool. Want Eck to get promoted but also went to revel in Newcastle's demise.

Smith has shown an ability to make excellent signings for the centre back position; Weir, Cuellar, Bougherra and even Ehiogu. So whislt I am not totally enthused by this latest rumour, if it were to come to fruition I would allow Smith the time of bedding the big Icelander in and seeing how it pans out. No doubt most fans will be irate at this rumour and I Can well see why. But if Weir, Dailly and Hemdani all move on at the end of this year it might not prove the worst transfer, particularly on a free. I would prefer however a slightly younger player who could hopefully build a partnership with Boogie for a few years.

Birmingham score early against Reading.
