  1. Keep the entries coming in folks... Honestly, well worth a quick pm to be in with a chance of a copy! Other competitions coming up include the following prizes: Ally McCoist: Portrait of a Hero (John Blake Publishing) The Rangers Miscellany (Vision Sports Publishing) Rangers' Cult Heroes (Know the Score Publishing) Sent Off At Gunpoint: The Autobiography of Willie Johnston (Know the Score Publishing) The Encyclopaedia of Scottish Football (Know the Score Publishing) The Autobiography of John Wark (Know the Score Publishing) Something for everyone there.
  2. JCD looked a decent player when he first arrived last season. Any time he was injured most of us were disappointed as his pace, touch and strength were extremely useful. Unfortunately these injuries, coupled with a dreadful run of form, means it's better for us all that he leaves sooner rather than later.
  3. http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/news/article1902396.ece Not surprised that Chick hasn't picked this up at the BBC but it seems Celtic will once again be protesting this weekend against their club's decision to wear poppies on their shirts. Utter, utter scumbags.
  4. Nope, he went to Villa I think - Guzan? Mark Brown will deputise. EDIT - I see they do have another American lad there - Cervi? He's not eligible for the CL apparently.
  5. Apparently the UEFA Delegate downplayed the incident - suggesting it was just a bit of fun...
  6. Didn't he say the other week he didn't want to go back to France as he loved it here?
  7. He didn't mate....
  8. BTW, I'm going to move this into the Footie Chat section which we keep separate...
  9. It's not one bad game mate. He's now been guilty of a few mistakes and his confidence levels generally look very low. Obviously dropping him may not help but we have to ensure all players are at the top of their form. McGregor isn't.
  10. It is quite incredible. Gascoigne (and later Healy) play the flute as part of some harmless banter with opposition fans. Both are made to apologise and vilified throughout the media for 'inciting sectarian hatred'. Boruc makes rude hand signals in front of women and children and invites the Copland Road to 'come on'; and he's the innocent victim defended by his club, church and politicians. Sums up the ridiculous double standards in this country perfectly.
  11. Celtic and their stewarding company really need to be taken to task for this... Not only do people appear to be able to throw things without punishment, they can now run on the pitch and remonstrate with or assault players. I would have some sympathy for them if they had tried their utmost to clamp down on this but - as with their 'political' chanting; they don't.
  12. Hmmm... I think I'd rather they went out as they don't seem to have any problems dropping points before/after Euro games anyway. FWIW, I think they may even finish second now.
  13. Notice this is working again... Thanks for fixing Barry-boy!
  14. Well said gordy.. It seems we're not allowed to have our opinion and are to rely on mischief-making liars like Spiers for our sports and social coverage.
  15. Rangers donate £7500 to PoppyScotland http://www.rangers.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/NewsDetail/0,,5~1445399,00.html
  16. Indeed. Expect frees for Hemdani, JCD and Burke then...
  17. We did go on a good run last season around this time so we'll need to do the same - including a win at Ibrox against Celtic in late December - if we're to really contest this title. When we play well we are more than capable of doing so but we just seem to lose concentration and confidence inexplicably as well. Welcome to the forums btw!
  18. Agree with TB... Generally he's had a good season - his distribution is usually especially sound - but he had a nightmare against Utd. Seems to struggle a wee bit against more physical players. We've rejected a £3million offer from Marseille for him so it may not matter too much what we think if they up that by another couple of million...
  19. Everyone can enter mate... You shouldn't be penalised for being lucky. I'd urge everyone to do so as this really is a superb book and the odds of winning are very good. All for free!
  20. Negative but unfortunately also extremely realistic appraisal mate... Slight good news is that we have played a settled team for the last couple of games and the football has been pretty good at times. Only terrible defending has let us down really. However, the under-performance of a few players in midweek means, that settled nature may not last longer than last Tuesday night.
  21. Also coming soon - a full review of the book! EDIT: Anyone interested in reviewing Rangers books for the main site, please pm me. We've got a few competitions coming up and the reviewer will obviously receive a free copy of each book to write their article. A great chance to build up your Rangers library!
  22. http://www.gersnetonline.net/newsite/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=694&Itemid=2 In conjunction with our friends at Breedon Books, we have a couple of copies of the following fantastic book available to win. Temple of Dreams: The Changing Face of Ibrox By Iain Duff http://www.breedonbooks.co.uk/ For more than 100 years, Ibrox has been the home of Rangers Football Club. It has been the scene not only of some of this sporting institution's greatest triumphs, but also of two of the worst disasters in British football. An imposing ground that is rich in history and tradition, Ibrox also boasts state-of-the-art facilities that rank alongside the best in the world. Its wood-panelled entrance lobby and famous marble staircase evoke memories of a distant era, while the glittering trophy room inside the magnificent Main Stand tells the story of the club better than any words. But although Rangers have managed to preserve the traditions of the famous old stadium, much of the Ibrox of today bears little resemblance to the ground which opened in December 1899. This book charts, in words and pictures, the history of Ibrox, from the early days, through the creation of Archibald Leitch's stunning Main Stand in 1929, with its Masonic imagery, to the present day five-star facilities. Using official records and eye-witness accounts, it tells the story of the two Ibrox disasters that claimed a total of 92 lives, and tells how the second tragedy in 1971 resulted in a complete overhaul of the stadium and the creation of the most modern football ground in Britain, years ahead of its time. As well as the many football triumphs, the stadium has witnessed dozens of other events over the years, including the famous annual Ibrox Sports meeting created by the legendary manager Bill Struth. On one spectacular afternoon, seven world records were broken in one race on the Ibrox cinder track. The book also reveals the part played by famous figures like Buffalo Bill Cody, King George V, Winston Churchill, Eric Liddell, Billy Graham, Frank Sinatra and Elton John in the history of the stadium. Ibrox, which holds the record attendance for a League match in Britain, would of course be nothing more than a pile of bricks and mortar without the fans who breathe life into it every other Saturday. Here, supporters recall their memories of the stadium, from starting bonfires on the vast terraces to keep warm in the depths of winter, to donning customised hard-hats as protection from flying beer bottles in the 1960s, to the spectacular Champions League nights of the 21st century. A fascinating journey through the history of the club, Duff's absorbing narrative is charged throughout with the passion of the fans and the red-hot atmosphere in the ground. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Temple-Dreams-Changing-Face-Ibrox/dp/1859836690/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1225965439&sr=1-1 To win, just tell us who designed the stunning Ibrox main stand - pm me with your answer and you'll be entered into the draw to win one of the books! Entries accepted until midnight on Thursday 20th November. Admin decision is final.
  23. Welcome to the forum mate - please note, I'm going to move this thread into Our Welcome area in the Bluenose lounge...
  24. Thanks for that mate - it is an excellent article. It is often too easy to be down in the dumps after such a poor result but it was a good game, we did play well in patches and we were unlucky at times. But (sorry there had to be one), the defending was dreadful (Thomson, McGregor and Davis in particular) and the fact remains we can ill-afford to drop many more points if we're to regain the title.
