  1. Looks like our new focus is on finding the next Steven Naismith, not the old one, and that suits me. Buying pedigree players for the main positions is beyond us without straying into the ‘past it’ bargain bin. So the only solution for me is to bring our own through or buy prospects like Naismith once was.
  2. He’s got a similar 180 degree turn to Mols, Pre-Kahn.
  3. I’m not even angry. I’m disappointed. Really really disappointed. We have no strength in depth. Without Jack, Dorrans, Wallace, Alves and Miller, that’s half a team of strong characters and we have nothing in reserve. Summer recruitment was shite, so we patiently wait for the next window and our new scouting team to work their magic.
  4. No problem for mine tonight. It’s smooth through the iPad to Apple TV.
  5. There are obviously still be a few questions that need answered about the search for the new manager. Is the pool just not good enough (McInnes excepted) or are we in dialogue with someone with a view to coming in at the end of the season? I think it rules out all of the out of work managers. In the meantime I’d say it’s about time we rallied behind Murty and get some siege mentality going. Murty is well aware of how the club works and can only get better as a manager. He has done a fairly good job on limited experience and hopefully the support he brings in is of the mentor variety. I am going to stop listening to the MSM who will sow all sorts of seeds of doubt and support this move. Park the speculation and get on with it now.
  6. For the record I support Eck coming back but I know not a lot of people agree. I think your post might not be directly aimed at me though ?
  7. Ok. Flo was a spectacular failure but winning a treble and having great runs in the CL is no failure no matter how much he was allowed to spend. His record compared to Brenda’s at this stage stands up very well. There’s no doubt he was a check book manager but he only spent what he was allowed to by Murray, and as I said, the signing of Flo was bad but he signed some great players who gave great value to the team for years. Blaming Advocaat for our financial mess is harsh when Murray is clearly the culprit. His final season was poor, but what about Walter’s final season after 9IAR? Does that make him a spectacular failure?
  8. If you think Dick Advocaat failed spectacularly, you have very high standards!!
  9. Aye he’ll definitely clean the place up.
  10. This will only become an issue if he goes on to manage Man Utd for the next 30 years! I have no fear for our situation!!
  11. It was great to see the defence do its job. Every time they went up the park, cue the butterflies in my belly, but they were strong. McKay-Steven should have scored right enough so we got away with that one. My main observation is that we weren't trying to put the ball through the parked bus this time. We will still struggle against the smaller teams if they park the bus. I just don't think we have the magic to open those defences up. Elton certainly won't have that space to maraud into against the likes of Killie. If Aberdeen shut up shop a bit at the weekend, it will be painful. Back to the positivity, we went toe to toe with our nearest rivals and when they tried to beat us, we destroyed them. I love it. Major kudos to Murty. He changed things up and got the result!!!
  12. I agree that it’s not easy to tempt those kinds of managers. They are used to EPL budgets. Who are the Scottish equivalents? Eck, Davie’s, Roberto Martinez (not Scottish but there’s a link)...
  13. There is no hiding place now for this board. We will see some direction early in the week or even over the weekend. What that direction is remains to be seen. Personally I hope it’s an experienced manager who has dealt with senior players before and if I’m honest, that sounds like Big Sam, Pardew, or someone like that. I want to see a steadying influence on the current players and a couple of good quality additions in January. There is a half decent team in there, we do have a decent level of players, and bar you know who, definitely as good as any top 6 team.
  14. Ange Postecoglou has quit the Australian national team and has risen in the betting to 9/1 for the Rangers job.
  15. I agree. This is something that could have been done weeks ago. Still doesn’t change the fact I’d be happy with Eck. I’d be happy with Gio, Carlo Ancelotti, Louis Enrique, Louis Van Gaal and Zidane, but we can only dream. Eck is realistic for me at this point in time, and a better option than McInnes.
  16. Iv always been comfortable with the idea of Eck coming back. I’d have had him in when we took PC. It’s not a sexy appointment in the slightest.
  17. I’ve been thinking a fair bit about this job and I was really quite keen on McInnes for a while, but that’s kind of dissipating. I won’t be upset if it is him, he might be safe and bring back some stability, dignity, etc. but I now have a sneaking suspicion that it won’t be him and I’m feeling good about that. I have no idea who it might be, but in principle, if we can attract a better manager than McInnes, someone who’s as good as Brenda (I know, who, how much, risk of non UK, and on and on...), then I think we are in a good position. DM is going to struggle to stop 10. I have been thinking about the Aberdeen situation and if DM doesn’t come to us, I can see him going elsewhere anyway and it would be sweet if we see a dolly implosion similar to the hertz when Neilson left.
  18. I’d give up our future Champions League success(es) for 55 right now ???
  19. There’s a fake Aberdeen ‘statement’ on your Twitter feed there. Hilariously tricking us into reading the BBC article on liquidation of oldco.
  20. Holy shit!!! Who needs enemies?? In no way, with an interim manager and the new guy being hunted, should we give a shit about tactics!!! These are the days when only results matter. Get a grip of yourself and enjoy that winning feeling.
  21. The fact is, if McInnes wants the Rangers job and he is our top target, then it will happen. There will be a negotiated settlement with Milne.
  22. Alves must have seen this a hundred times. I’m sure he will be comfortable with a new manager coming in. Essentially the squad have a huge amount to prove. I don’t know what the relationships with PC were but I get the impression that some of them do feel as though they have let Pedro down. It takes players a while to settle in Scotland with all the hatchet men gunning for better than average players so the new manager may see a natural bounce that might have been coming Pedro’s way. If they do bounce back, we will never know if it’s the new manager effect or it’s the settling in period.
  23. Where is the club statement? This needs cleared up as soon as possible.
